depression

Avatar m tn After many years of tackling treatment-resistant depression, I gave into my doctor's advice and tried Zyprexa, an antipsychotic. Three days later, I felt normal again...a feeling so wonderful I can't put it into words. Give them a try and you may be surprised. Antipsychotics ara not just for "psychotic" people...they have many uses. Good luck!
Avatar n tn Also, I should add that the Zyprexa dose is only 1.25mg nightly. Does weight gain depend on the amount you take?
401554 tn?1270213756 I am on Zyprexa 2.5 mg for depression. It has practically cured me but my heart is beating out of synch all the time now. I was diagnosed with a harmless heart arrhythmia a year ago and the Zyprexa is making it much worse. My cardiologist and psychiatrist said it was nothing to worry about but I'm scared. Risperdal also had the same effect, too. I tried Abilify but It made me way too jittery. Has anyone else out there experienced this?
5093508 tn?1390543931 Are you on an antidepressant by chance? Sometimes, this class of med (an antypical antipsychotic) CAN be used in conjunction with an antidepressant to help with the effectiveness of the AD and help with symptoms of anxiety and depression. Maybe that's her thinking? It won't help directly with any physical w/d symptoms, but if you're on an AD, it may help the emotional symptoms you're dealing with. I think you're smart to be concerned.
874521 tn?1424116797 seroquel will not worsen his depression for sure, he may only feel lethargic if he is given high dosage. But as IL said valporate is good for mania and weak for depression. There is an alternativce to give him (ask your pdoc) an AD good for anxiety too like lexapro but for a short while only because all AD's run the risk of bringing mania, and stop. Already he takes zyprexa which is strong enough to cover the AD if given.
Avatar f tn Being on Pristiq and Zyprexa has kept my depression in check, but I have low energy and no motivation to do anything. Any ideas as to how to get my energy and motivation back?
Avatar n tn It has been almost two weeks since I withdrawn from zyprexa and it looks like it is getting worse everyday. I have used this medication for 1.5 months and my highest dosage was 10 mg that I took for 7 days. Im feeling very weird, not alert or not conscious at all. It feels like Im some kinda zombie without emotions. I can´t even sleep well at night, Im a sleep but awake at the same time. I get panic attacks because Im scared I will be like this forever.
Avatar m tn I have had four months of nausea and dizziness because my dr. took me off Zyprexa and put me on another med. I thought my symptoms were from withdrawal but he said that I shouldn't experience withdrawal from Zyprexa, especially since the new drug, Seroquel, was in the same class. So I was told I had an inner ear problem for the last four months and have been suffering through these symptoms.
Avatar f tn I had anxiety and I was on Cipralex 20mg & Zyprexa 5mg I was doing fine. I got a viral infection for which I used leflox 500mg antibiotic 2 times a day. The viral infection got cured but I got anxiety. My doctor has gave me a plan to temper zyprexa as it was giving me brain fog and has added wellburtin SR 150mg. I am asking him to give me some benzodiazepines he does not gives as he says that Cipralex & Wellburtin are enough. He says that give wellburtin 3 weeks to work.
1082697 tn?1260064616 i am taking citalopram and zyprexa for depression. i am on vicodin for shoulder pain. since i have been on the pills i have not needed my pain pillls. i am wondering if anyone has experienced this. did the depression cause my pain? i have not had any bad side affects on the zyprexa. in fact i have so much energy now. i tend to get into deep depression so bad i can hardly get out of bed. i have been taking the zyprexa for about 4 weeks now. the doctor put me on since my citalopram needed a boost.
Avatar m tn Can anyone give me some info. on zyprexa? Has anyone been given this to help stabalize their mood, during withdrawal? If so, please share with me if you benefited from this, and is this addictive as well?
874521 tn?1424116797 I know for a fact that the zyprexa causes drowsiness. I have been on 10mg for over a year and it makes me sleep well through the night and into the morning. I'm not sure about the other drug, but the one thing I am sure of is don't let him just get off the zyprexa "cold turkey"!!! Read on here under zyprexa withdrawls about what most of us feel when we are coming off of this drug. You will be surprised on what it does to someone's well being....
Avatar n tn t respond to OTC medicine. I am on 40mg Prozac, 1200mg lithium, and my doctor just put me on 5mg Zyprexa because I am scared and isolating at my job. I guess I just want to know if this med combination makes sense. I also am concerned about the headaches and the constant drowsiness I feel. I told the doctor, but there was no apparent concern about these symptoms. She wants to target the severe anxiety I'm experiencing. I feel like my whole life is haunted.

Avatar n tn He was diagnosed with Major Depression with psychotic features. He has been on 20mg of Zyprexa, 100mg of Wellbutrin, 60 mg of Prozac for three years. Is this a normal course of treatment?
Avatar m tn • Other antidepressants- Wellbutrin (made me angry), Anafranil (Helped control obsessive thinking), Cymbalta (no effect), Strattera (no effect) • Antipsychotics- Zyprexa (works slightly, weight gain), Seroquel (doped me up, no help otherwise), Risperdal (no effect), Abilify (made me jittery, helped depression), Latuda (combined with zyprexa, no effect), Lithium (no effect except a rash), Geodon (slight effect, less than Zyprexa) • Benzos- Valium, Librium (anger), Xanax, Klonopin (doped me up),
789911 tn?1368636783 Withdrawing too soon can lead to symptoms such as insomnia, hallucinations, and delusions. In order to reduce your risk of severe Zyprexa withdrawal symptoms, your healthcare provider may decide to slowly decrease your dosage.
1082697 tn?1260064616 Zyprexa can be effective for depression when combined with an antidepressant. My Psychiatrist was thinking about it for me, but I told him no and that he would have to be more creative with his meds. (I'm just not a big fan of any anti-psychotic drugs for depression and anxiety) I had my Psych prescribe me a strong Tri-cyclic and 900Mgs a day of Lithium then added Klonopin for the anxiety.
Avatar f tn I was on Zyprexa for over 15 years after doctors had tried numerous anxiety/depression medicines without positive results. I was convinced that it was a bad drug and I should quit taking it a year ago even though I was happy and just newly married. I thought life was good so I went off cold turkey...Boy o boy. The horrible withdrawals made me feel like I was doing the right thing and that it was a horrible drug. I have been spiraling downward since then.
Avatar m tn I cannot remain on anything that makes me as tired as zyprexa or seroquel anymore, it’s not helping with the major depression.
Avatar f tn After very sever psychotic depression (so bad I couldnt hold down water) three years later I have made a good recovery. I just need 2.5 mg zyprexa to live my life. It prevents relapse. But the weight gain is hard. Has anyone found an alternative that works as well as zyprexa but without the weight.
616450 tn?1228433627 I've been taking Zyprexa at bedtime for the past few nights, per Endo #3, and I feel a lot better, folks. As a matter of fact, I felt better almost immediately after taking the first dose. It seems to act quick, like Xanax, but stays in the bloodstream longer or something. Dr. Pretorius was concerned that I was getting a little too used to Xanax, so he wants me to try to gradually come off of that and he'll increase the Zyprexa dosage.
