Avatar f tn i was also given zyprexa for recent breakdown and hasnt helped any of my symptoms depression and anxiety.
Avatar n tn I've been put on zyprexa for depression. I've never had a manic episode. I was also put on zoloft. The zyprexa @5-10 mg calms me but I feel a bit zoned out, zombie-like. My ears are also chronically plugged. I've been on it for a week. I would prefer to just do the zoloft and the doc has said that would be okay. I'd like your opinion as well. Also, if I go off zyprexa after just this week of using it, will I experience any rebound effects?
Avatar n tn 6 months of depressive symptoms. Psychotic symptoms required admission. Zyprexa for 1 year. Recently Epival added. Stopped Zyprexa. Relapsed with depressive symptoms. Your condition consisting of affective symptoms with psychotic elements recurred after stopping Zyprexa, an antipsychotic, indicating that you NEED Zyprexa and are required to taken it for another period of time, the length of which is to be determined by your psychiatrist.

Avatar n tn I've been taking 2.5 mg of zyprexa for about 12 years for anxiety, along with Nardil for depression& some things for sleep, etc. Every time I try to get off the zyprexa I get the same wierd physical symptoms, in addition to regular anxiety symptoms that I can recognize. This time I took 3/4 of the 2.5mg for 1 week, and went down to 1/2 for a week, and then dropped it.
Avatar m tn After many years of tackling treatment-resistant depression, I gave into my doctor's advice and tried Zyprexa, an antipsychotic. Three days later, I felt normal again...a feeling so wonderful I can't put it into words. Give them a try and you may be surprised. Antipsychotics ara not just for "psychotic" people...they have many uses. Good luck!
Avatar n tn In 2000, I started to feel severe depression and insomnia. In 2002, I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and was given Zyprexa. Zyprexa helped somewhat, but triggered diabetes and seemed to lose effectiveness after the first month or so. Over the past year, on the advice of doctors, I have tried several other antipsychotics, SSRIs and MAOIs,including Effexor, Paxil, Risperdal, and Wellbutrin - nothing seems to have helped as much as the Zyprexa did.
Avatar n tn Also, I should add that the Zyprexa dose is only 1.25mg nightly. Does weight gain depend on the amount you take?
781963 tn?1236476713 1st day on zyprexa that i feel ok
581283 tn?1217970892 I started taking Zyprexa in the morning today. Even though I'm taking two diabex/day now (as of several days ago), I'm still eating and snacking badly. I'm really getting concerned about my weight gain, and I know that will make me even more depressed than I already am. I might try taking one tonight too. Dr. Johnstone is still away, so I can't ask her advice right now.
Avatar m tn Currently I have been diagnosed as sufferring from depression and psychosis. I have been off and on on Zyprexa and other medicines for last couple of years. After taking medication for few weeks I get fed up and I stop it cold turkey. I then leave home and start wondering around the streets not knowing how to take care of myself, land up in the hospital, take zyprexa, get released take it for few weeks and again quit. This cycle has been going on for last couple of years.
401554 tn?1270213756 I am on Zyprexa 2.5 mg for depression. It has practically cured me but my heart is beating out of synch all the time now. I was diagnosed with a harmless heart arrhythmia a year ago and the Zyprexa is making it much worse. My cardiologist and psychiatrist said it was nothing to worry about but I'm scared. Risperdal also had the same effect, too. I tried Abilify but It made me way too jittery. Has anyone else out there experienced this?
Avatar n tn he said he would start cutting him back next time we saw him. i read in a book on depression that he sould have only been on zyprexa for a short time.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with postpartum depression. I have never had any problems with anxiety or depression. I was started on lexapro and had really bad anxiety attacks. My doc stopped that and started me on zoloft and I had the same problem. I was having racing thoughts and anxiety and my heart would race. My doc then put me on Zyprexa I was on it for a wek and a half and I was slurring my speech and could not finish a single thought and kept having muscle twitches.
Avatar n tn I was hospitalized in sep09 for suicide threat and they put me on meds. they said I had MD and gave me remeron and zyprexa. I quit both and ever since have had weird mood swings of energized to depression where i cant even eat for days. was the high energy anxiety phase only caused by the surgery and would it last a year? also the surgery was for seizures in the right temporal lobe that came with fear auras.
Avatar n tn I have been on a half tablet of 2.5mg of Zyprexa for several years. Before that I took the full 2.5mg tablet, and before that 2mg of Haldol after a psychotic break. First, is it all right to be breaking these unscored tablets in half? I was told it was ok to do. Second, I am also wondering about side effects related to long-term dosing with these meds. Third, I have been told I could try to go off the Zyprexa, and I have no idea how this will work for me.

5093508 tn?1390543931 Are you on an antidepressant by chance? Sometimes, this class of med (an antypical antipsychotic) CAN be used in conjunction with an antidepressant to help with the effectiveness of the AD and help with symptoms of anxiety and depression. Maybe that's her thinking? It won't help directly with any physical w/d symptoms, but if you're on an AD, it may help the emotional symptoms you're dealing with. I think you're smart to be concerned.
Avatar n tn My painful question is that I have been off Zyprexa for 6 weeks, 2.5mg. I I wake up trembling, heart racing, and depression, unable to sleep at all. What is happening? Also a new Doctor suggested Geodone right away, however he has not heard my damaging history with my doctor. Also, my doctor never kept accurate medical records in all 13 1/2 years, and was already leagally repremanded for not having medical records in 1994 from another patient.

Avatar n tn I take buspar and prozac now and stopped taking zyprexa and trazadone a month ago. I am now crashing. I just found out that zyprexa is an antipsychotic. does this mean that i am psychotic. I do have flash backs. the doctor doesnt know i stopped the meds.
Avatar n tn Lee, I understand that you recently had an EEG, MRI and are experiencing tinnitus. I also assume that you are taking Zoloft, Zyprexa and Depakote and are wondering if these medications may affect EEG readings. Depakote is an anti-seizure medication that suppresses certain types of seizure activity. There is no reported characteristic EEG findings with Depakote. Zoloft a medication for depression and anxiety also has no specific EEG changes associated with it.
Avatar m tn Can anyone give me some info. on zyprexa? Has anyone been given this to help stabalize their mood, during withdrawal? If so, please share with me if you benefited from this, and is this addictive as well?
874521 tn?1424116797 seroquel will not worsen his depression for sure, he may only feel lethargic if he is given high dosage. But as IL said valporate is good for mania and weak for depression. There is an alternativce to give him (ask your pdoc) an AD good for anxiety too like lexapro but for a short while only because all AD's run the risk of bringing mania, and stop. Already he takes zyprexa which is strong enough to cover the AD if given.
Avatar m tn I have had four months of nausea and dizziness because my dr. took me off Zyprexa and put me on another med. I thought my symptoms were from withdrawal but he said that I shouldn't experience withdrawal from Zyprexa, especially since the new drug, Seroquel, was in the same class. So I was told I had an inner ear problem for the last four months and have been suffering through these symptoms.
