Common Questions and Answers about Depression symptoms young men

depression

Avatar f tn This is probably mild depression (but just because it's mild, doesn't mean it's to be ignored or that it doesn't matter - mild depression can become severe depression). It is a completely understandable response to your situation. I would recommend seeing a counsellor or psychologist or some kind of therapist, who knows cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT).
Avatar m tn I think you need to seek the help of a psychiatrist for your symptoms and I recommend that you get evaluated for depression. I definitely see a problem with your health just as you do, but there is nothing more that can be offered to you from an endocrine point of view and no hormonal treatment is going to relieve your symptoms. I would also urge you to try meditation and/or yoga to reduce stress.
Avatar n tn Is there is good list out there somewhere of hypothyroid symptoms that MEN are likely to experience, as opposed to women? A quick search reveals many similar lists, with symptoms such as "hair loss," "weight gain," and "abnormal menstrual cycles." The first two of these are things that I would guess the vast majority of men experience later in life, and the third is meaningless. Now in my mid-40s, I have started to feel sluggish and want to sleep more.
Avatar f tn I do love him very much but most of the time he is the last person I want to deal with. Does any of ur men whine and complain like they have more symptoms than u...or anytime u say my back or head hurts there's does as well? Haha that is annoying sometimes I want attention and compassion. Got to love our men though.
1565702 tn?1295296430 Yesterday in the elevator leaving work I accidentally dropped my purse and about five packs of cigarettes fell out onto the floor, along with some of my other stuff - and the gentleman who helped me pick them up commented that I must be some kind of serious chain smoker because he'd never seen such a pretty young lady carrying around so many cigarettes. I told him I was trying to quit and he just chuckled. I was so embarrassed. But its not like I'm oblivious to what it does to me.
1130576 tn?1260154370 My story is straight. I am but one individual and the way my life went is not representative of anything but my life. I did not know I was depressed until I was 35 Mammo. I had dythsmia and thought it was normal so I just lived with it. If you didn't take note of the stats on that last link perhaps you will believe the World Health Organisation, the authority on all health problems world wide. http://www.searo.who.int/en/Section1174/Section1199/Section1567/Section1826_8109.htm.
Avatar m tn As a result, men who are depressed are more likely to talk about the physical symptoms of their depression such as feeling tired rather than symptoms related to emotions. In either case you need health insurance for your hepatitis C, liver disease or depression as these can be expensive to treat. If you don't have health insurance through your employer like most Americans than you should get a private health insurance plan.

Avatar f tn (I don't know what does this, maybe they just need to sell....). There are too many young business men out there today without scientific flesh on their bones.... For me, Remeron (mirtazapine) took anxiety away and helped me cope very well with my dperession. The results were absolutely not immediate and it only dulled down the feeling of being overwhelmed, and really: That was enough. I leant a whole great deal on the AD's and trusted them with all I had. I had no other choice.
Avatar n tn I have been to a clinic for five weeks to try to resolve some of these problems but the treatment and workshops seemed to me to be oriented to cocaine addiction in young men and little other advice. I need to find out what I can do to help myself to get through the final days of my life. I cannot work again. I have two dogs that need to be looked after for a good few years and two duaghters that I love dearly but only see once or twice a year.
Avatar m tn Consumption of fermented foods that contain probiotic organisms may have a protective effect against symptoms of social anxiety, according to a study of young adults. The study compared foods reported to have been consumed to scores on personality tests. Those who most frequently consumed the most fermented foods tended to also have lower levels of social anxiety. This relationship was strongest in those who had higher levels of neuroticism.
Avatar n tn I finally got to post!! Avatar n tn These studies have demonstrated that consuming Tyrosine enhances the production of neurotransmitters and may, in fact, alleviate certain symptoms of depression and improve alertness and focus. Also, studies performed by the military have shown that consuming a L-Tyrosine supplement may enhance cognitive performance. What doses of Tyrosine should be taken? There are no definitive studies showing what doses of L-Tyrosine are most effective.

Avatar m tn Are their specials concerns for young men looking forward to a life of treatment? My Endo started me out on 100 mcg Levothroid. Starting on a half pill for two weeks and then a full dose for afterwards.
Avatar n tn I continued to have symptoms of a racing heart, sweaty, nausea, and chest pain on exertion. Then two weeks ago it was particularly bad and my husband took me to the ER where I had a very abnormal EKG and supraventricular tachycardia. They said I needed the cath right away so I signed the consent forms and went right up to the lab. Luckily my heart is normal. The cardiologist says my EKG would be worrisome for someone with an underlying heart disease.
Avatar f tn These compounded hormones do not affect fertility, they are not for birth control purposes, but can certainly help with excessive, irregular bleeding, depression, menopause symptoms and other hormonal imbalances. My heart goes out to all you having problems with the pill. I have a 20 year old, 4 months on the pill, experiencing constant anxiety and depression with anger and bouts of crying over small things. I am helping her find alternatives.
Avatar n tn Visual and auditory hallucinations were quite exceptional and debilitating. Skin was on fire and all the rest. Symptoms lasted for three to four weeks. Even had to learn how to walk again. My choice the last time was to get someone to sign me into the psych ward at the hospital. I got help and support and am doing well.
Avatar n tn It makes the anxiety bareable, but doesn't do much for my depression. However, there has always been one thing that has relieved all my symptoms; pain medications. First I would like to say something that Im sure everyone knows; these medicines are very addictive and should not be abused. Unfortunately, they are the only things that work for me. The make me completely calm and relaxed, and not wozy and out of it like benzos do.

Avatar n tn His behavior faciliates between bouts of crying, feeling abandonded, hopeless, depressed and periods of apparent well-being where he is calm, psychologically present, reasonable. He attributes his despair to clinical depression which he has. I am sure the drugs are contributing. I am not sure if the periods of calm are immediatley following injection and the despair is withdrawal or coming down. When I confront him, I want to know what I am talking about.
Avatar f tn My worst symptoms are very high anxiety and depression, extreme fatigue during the day, doubled and blurred vision, very hard time concentrating, very poor short term memory, depersonalization (feeling like I am in a dream-like state and outside of my body, like I have been drugged and cannot come down), obsessive thoughts, I have very fatigued and tense muscles, and I have popping, cracking and grinding sounds coming from almost all of my joints, like when I get up from sitting for a long peri

Avatar n tn I've heard so often, men advising each other to hold off from ejaculation when masturbating in order to increase 'stamina' and promote a full-body sexual experience which some often associate with some misguided notion of 'tantric sex'. So many young men, including myself wish they could 'last longer' learning that most women only reach orgasm after a prolonged period of sustained sex.

Avatar m tn "T3 was far below normal for my age, I forgot what the number was, something close to 4 or 5." Is that supposed to be T3 or TSH? "...my physical therapy people think maybe the low TSH levels have had something to do in stifling my improvement..." Low TSH levels can indicated hypERthyroidism. Have you considered that as a possibility? Your symptoms sound more hyper than hypo. What further tests is your doctor ordering?
Avatar n tn As every exam and test points to a healthy heart, how in the world does my mind cause me physical symptoms like chest pain and pressure, arm and shoulder pain, along with heart flutters now and then? Can a chronic phobic condition actually produce these physical symptoms? p.s.: I'm NOT hypocondric, as the only real concern i have is heart disease, not any and all diseases of the body.
