1136436 tn?1261829761 If the medicion is helping you and you get off of it the symptoms are more likely to return just like was said above. Depression is like any other illness that is tough to deal with. But like I said if you decide to quit the medicion inform your doctor.
Avatar f tn Okay so I've had issues with depression way before becoming pregnant. And now being pregnant I of course cannot take my meds. Has anyone else dealt with depression issues before/during pregnancy? No certain reason behind them, just depressed. And does it usually cause you to be more at risk for post partum depression? How can I deal with this easier? Now and once my little man is here?
Avatar f tn She'll have all kinds of information for you about things like if SHE's ever felt that way or anyone else in your family, what she feels is normal and she would be the one to get further intervention if the two of you decide that you may have symptoms of depression. There are important things that go into being diagnosed as depressed. One of the criteria is that one must have the symptoms every day for at least two weeks straight.

Avatar f tn You are having classic symptoms of both depression and anxiety disorders. You are not unique as myself and others here can definitely relate to the stress, hopelessness, pain and frustration. You mentioned that you were seeking counseling. Is this with a psych specialist? Have you been given a formal diagnosis? There is help available through therapy and/or medication. You don't have to, nor were you meant to live this way.
Avatar f tn I am so sorry that your depression is untreatable, and with all those ECTs it has not improved. I presume no anti-depression medication has been effective in your case either. I presume you have tried them all. You certainly don't sound pathetic, I admire you for being such a fighter. Seems the doctors and psychiatrists have given up on you. Well I do not know what to suggest you do next, seems to me you have tried so hard.
1200240 tn?1289343287 Is there anyone in this community from the UK? I live in Dagenham Essex England. I have not come across anyone else who suffers from chiari who lives near me at all, but i have seen a couple of websites of people with chiari who lives in the north of England. It seems to me that this chiari condition is more rare here in the UK than it is in USA. And it seems that no-one knows anything about the condition.

Avatar f tn I have been told that my physical symptoms are likely to be due to depression and the lymphocytosis a result of having asthma. I have been taking antidepressants (60mg Duloxetine/ daily - for 12 months), although I stopped taking them 2 months ago as they had no effect on my symptoms. I don't know whether these symptoms are physical or psychological. Can depression cause the physical symptoms i've mentioned above? If so what can I do about it?
Avatar m tn Had mild depression for two years and then had some nasty panic attacks when I moved house two years ago. In the UK we have the normal tablet and then the timed release tablet. I am trying to come off by using the 37.5mg timed release in the morning then the 37.5mg normal tablet with 10% (7.5 mg) chopped in the evening, for a starter. I previously tried going one day on the 37.5 and then the 75mg and try to alternate but this seemed too big a drop for me.
Avatar m tn There is a list of about 12 specific symptoms that can indicate a serious mental depression. Are you suffering from these symptoms? It really sounds like a lot of this problem your having is situational. If it is situational than most likly just seeing a Therapist on a regular basis should help a lot. As for taking medication....
Avatar f tn I know we do have members from Ireland and the UK....and I am sure they will reply as well....but the wait time can be just as long here in the many are being DX'd with Chiari and there are far too few Drs well informed and experienced with it that we get brushed off or sent to many other Drs..we have dubbed this "the Royal Chiari Run Around"..... May I ask what symptoms u were having that u have had the testing to locate this condition?

Avatar f tn ) I have aches and pains in my neck, knees and hips, dry skin with eczema and feel very low most of the time with no 'get up and go'. I have seen 3 doctors who said my symptoms were due to depression and I have tried 2 different anti-depressants and a course of counselling none of which made me feel any better. I would like to try Amour Thyroid but I have heard that Drs and Endos in the UK won't prescribe it.

Avatar n tn I'm afraid that even though he doesn't display classical symptoms of depression, his low self esteem and threats to harm himself may cause him to do something impulsive and rash. Thank you. Your suggestions are appreciated.

3063937 tn?1352426455 I have had depression for 20+ years, and each time I take myself off my anti-depressant, depression comes back. This has happened many times. I have been in hospital, seen psychologists, psychiatrists, counsellors, etc. But I am still fighting it. I am in good place at the moment thanks to medication. I live in UK so cannot help you with residential care. Here a psychiatrist will recommend a hospital, or people pay a lot to go privately.
Avatar f tn Geodon was approved as an antipsychotic for its primary use all over the world. Geodon has some concerns such as heart arrythmia though and its the only antipsychotic with this problem (out of the ones approved in the U.S. at least). Generally out of all of the antipsychotics Abilify is the least likely to cause weight gain and diabetes and sedation. Geodon was used more for a while because of this but Abilify is generally used more now. Did you ask about that one?
Avatar n tn My psychiatrist suggested that Cytomel may help some with depression and also with the tiredness and sleepiness I have had for years.I went to internet and read about hypothyroidism and how it often is undiagnosed due to normal blood test. Well I was uneasy about the Cytomel at first but when i saw how many of the symptoms of hypothyroidism I have I wondered if that isn't my problem. I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia also and wondered if that has anything to do with the thyroid.
Avatar f tn It may be worth getting your blood checked to make sure that your underactive thyroid is under control. Suffering from depression, being under stress and anxiety can all affect the memory as well as lack of sleep and being dehydrated. Make sure that you drink plenty of water so as not to get dehydrated. With the medication that you are on, I presume that you are not drinking any alcohol.
447939 tn?1235065543 My heritage is from the UK. Wish I could visit there some day. Been to Europe (mainland), but never the UK. My grandparents on fathers side were first generation Americans, immigrating from Scotland. Do you like living there?
Avatar f tn I posted a similar message on the depression forum but thought perhaps I should post on here as well. I have sypmtoms which sound similar to both depression and bi polar. I I can swing from happy to sad to angry to irritable and everything in between within the course of a day.
Avatar f tn Chronic lung infections and sinus too. There are more symptoms but I can't think of them all right now. Depression and iritability. Please excuse spelling. Past diagnosis: Epstein Barr Syndrome, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Fibromyalgia, Migraine eqivalent, now MS.
Avatar m tn I have read and read lots of post from the general public, experts, and official sites however I I am so confused to why I am experiencing these symptoms and the I read that these type of symptoms would normally occur between 2 to 6 weeks as this was by an expert form freedom health. My question is what is the truth and would I experience these symptoms if the risk of receiving oral sex from a female HIV positive or not is 0.04 % risk to zero risk?
Avatar m tn I have been worried about my health for a long time but fortunatley I have came to a point were I have turned a corner with my anxiety and truely feel im on the long road to recovery and I now understand that the only way to get rid of the fears is to face them and overcome each obstical. As I live in the UK our national health service paid for my uselless psychiatrist and I also paid my own privet therapy which was also a load of bull.
1228164 tn?1267423226 I have suffered from depression since 1985 and after non stop antidpressants, my depression took on different and more severe symptoms and I was rediagnoised as Bipolar. I have gone thru numerous antidepressants over the years. I finally have found a p-doc that approaches my MI agressively. I have been switched to different medications every 2 weeks until we finally found the correct "cocktail" of medication to treat my symptoms. I am currently taking 300 mg.
Avatar n tn Dear friend Don't ignore the symptoms of depression, talk to your doctor for an depression assessment. I was feeling well for the 6 month and I was ignoring the depression until one day I had to go to the hospital with suicidal thoughts and so depressed that I couldn't control myself. They put me on CELEXA and now I can say I function but still have very bad days. I cry a lot and feel empty and hopeless. They even put me on psychotherapy for severe depression.
1408210 tn?1340200372 This is my first post on this topic. I was diagnosed years ago with depression and I have tried all the meds available and none help, so I have been winging it on my own, so to speak. I am a 70 yr old female with a family history of alcoholism on one branch of the family tree.
