215021 tn?1224886057 I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 5 years ago and generally manage the symptoms with various pain medications. However, since the op' the joint pain has gotten worse again and I am now convinced there is a connection. I don't really understand all the stuff about the 'auto immune system' but I have been told that mine is showing signs of being 'compromised'. Specifically the Anti Nuclear Antibody test was 'positive' and my Thyroid Peroxidase was 'significantly' raised.
Avatar f tn Hi ladies In searching for an answer to this disease I'm carrying out a survey regarding oral contraceptives. If you have the time I would be grateful if you let me know if you have been on oral contraceptives or Mirena coil, when you first started with them and are you still on them. Being newly diagnosed I am very frustrated with the idea that the disease is so far incurable. Many thanks for all your input.
1832268 tn?1326819610 I would like to hear some input from others, as to what information would be helpful. For example...Breed, Age, Symptoms, Creatine, Bun, and Phorsphorus levels at time of first exam that revealed Kidney Disease, as well as End Stage Symptoms and Lab Values ( if known. ) How Quickly did the disease progress. Did the dog die naturally, or was the death assisted. I think this type of information would be very helpful to anyone and their dog, who has to deal with this disease.
Avatar n tn in family members and partners, from over the many years. Many symptoms mimic the HCV related symptoms I have become accustomed to for decades. My concern is that there may be possible extrahepatic/ non-blood based transmission taking place within salivary glands, Sexual organs, lymphatic system that ends up being CONTAINED within those body systems. The infection might not show up in serum based anti-HCV testing!!!!
Avatar m tn Let's keep up the community for this valuable real life survey. Thank you to all contributors and best wishes to all for a new start in life.
Avatar f tn The post-injection physical symptoms, awful for me at the beginning, seem to have moderated to a manageable level now (just nasty instead of bone-crunching). I have genotype 1, hence a 48-week course has been prescribed. I am trying to eat well, exercise, take Interferon and Ribavirin as prescribed and so on. Until recently, I have barely taken any medications at all, not even painkillers or antibiotics. I hate taking medications of any description.

131817 tn?1209532911 make them better, leave them unchanged, or make them worse. I honestly think you would have a good chance at getting rid of some of your issues, and since they are already a problem, and you will need to tx at some point anyway, then you might have more reason to go for it, than to wait.
Avatar f tn Bell's Palsy and depression are well known symptoms of Lyme Disease, as is a reduced capacity for stress. It can also cause brain lesions (I have 20 of them and was worked up for MS before my neuro decided I probably didn't have MS and referred me off to a teaching/research hospital). I don't know where you are, but cases of Lyme have been reported in every state in the country, far more in some than others.
Avatar n tn This relationship was filled with verbal abuse and constant mood swings from my very unstable EX-girlfriend (no wonder I self-medicaed with pot).. Currently my symptoms include anxiety/depression, irritability, irrational thoughts, and the occasional headache. The ups and downs have really begun to wear on me and I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever return to my normal self before the pot and the emotional roller coaster of a relationship.
Avatar m tn Physicians should monitor all patients for evidence of depression and other psychiatric symptoms. Patients should be advised to report any sign or symptom of depression or suicidal ideation to their prescribing physicians. In severe cases, therapy should be stopped immediately and psychiatric intervention instituted (see ADVERSE REACTIONS and DOSAGE AND 146 ADMINISTRATION)." Cheers!
Avatar f tn When nerves get overheated you have symptoms when you cool down symptoms are gone. With nerve damage symptoms are permanent. Many people with MS have a big health care team Urologist, Gastroentrologists, Pain Management, PTs , etc. Because MS effects so many things. Not everything is MS. I was throwing up and having diaphragm spasms and for two years my GP decided it was MS. Unfortunately it was Cancer. By the time her partner found it it was stage 4 so you can't think everything is MS.

Avatar n tn After four months post-tx, I continue to have lots of 'down' days, with some depression, fatigue, lack of motivation, and lots of lupus-like skeletal pain. Some days I feel great for much of the day, then out of nowhere it feels like a switch was turned on (autoimmune system maybe) and my pain flares up, anxiety hits, dizziness, and brain fog...etc. What is everyone else experiencing after completing their tx, and please mention if you are still undetected, relapsed, or other.
4190741 tn?1370181432 The study is the first in which researchers linked anxiety and stroke independent of other factors such as depression. Anxiety disorders are one of the most prevalent mental health problems. Symptoms include feeling unusually worried, stressed, nervous or tense. Over a 22-year period, researchers studied a nationally representative group of 6,019 people 25-74 years old in the first National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.
Avatar f tn I went to a councellor two years ago for everything with my dad and he told me after a survey thing that I may have mild depression, but I didn't even write things how I truly felt because i'm ashamed of the way I feel. Sometimes I think about death but i'd never do anything like that.
Avatar n tn I guess ultimately I'm asking for help on the situation, not really whether what I'm going through classifies as clinical depression. And by the way, I already know things such as I need to find a way to relieve stress, and that I really ought to move on(although I still haven't gotten a clear answer as to whether the relationship is over for good or not), that I need to build a reliable support system, that I am irresponsible and these things will grow with time, etc.
Avatar n tn Visual and auditory hallucinations were quite exceptional and debilitating. Skin was on fire and all the rest. Symptoms lasted for three to four weeks. Even had to learn how to walk again. My choice the last time was to get someone to sign me into the psych ward at the hospital. I got help and support and am doing well.
1216899 tn?1288573925 However, I've heard that vitamin D can definitely have a positive impact on mood disorders such as anxiety and depression. Hey, if after only 3 weeks your symptoms are reduced 10-15% it sounds as if you might get a lot better as your D levels rise.
139792 tn?1498589250 24, 2010) — Research suggests that religious belief can help protect against symptoms of depression, but a study at Rush University Medical Center goes one step further. ________________________________________ In patients diagnosed with clinical depression, belief in a concerned God can improve response to medical treatment, according to a paper in the Journal of Clinical Psychology.
4190741 tn?1370181432 Folkerts, a combat engineer and Ranger, was never diagnosed by the Army as having post-traumatic stress disorder, and he stayed in denial of such symptoms as hypervigilance, anxiety and anger until he was finally rated by the Veterans Affairs Department as having the disorder. Following his medical retirement, he took the advice of a friend who appeared to have climbed out of a similar “dark place” — and went fly-fishing.
Avatar n tn I will post a link below, which was kindly included below by Kalio in another thread, which is a large survey on post-tx symptoms. If you complete the survey (it is very easy and takes little time)you will then be able to view the results of the survey, and a large number of individual comments by the participants describing their own particular post-tx experiences. Here is the link: http://www.hepcuk.info/data/usercontentroot/home/treatments/Post%20Treatment%20Survey.
Avatar n tn Hi Nicobella, When they test people's pituitarys, usually it's to see if thyroid problems are secondary caused. The pituitary can have a tumor, usually benign, that can cause either lack of hormone release (ei: TSH) or excess release. So both hypo and hyper can be caused by the pituitary but is much more rare than that cause by the thyroid itself.
Avatar n tn This is the 2nd time I tried to get off of Lexapro (1st time was very unsuccesful- horrible withdrawal symptoms, including suicidal thoughts, severe irritability). It took me roughly 2 1/2 months to get off of the drug this time around.
Avatar n tn I have Thallasemia Minor and thought I was just lazy because the Drs. said it has no symptoms. I also had some depression and anxiety attacks. My dad, brother and son have it, too. They don't seem to get as tired as I do, tho. I can relate to that vision thing, too. I wear glasses, but sometimes I just have a hard time seeing clearly.
Avatar m tn I haven't had any in almost a full 72 hours and so far there's been virtually no symptoms whatsoever. I'm not substituting anything to take the edge off with the exception of one 350mg "Soma" taken before bed to help with the potential insomnia. I have to be honest here, I'm actually upset that I'm not suffering because now I'm starting to feel like I can quit anytime I want with no side effects.
Avatar m tn just as good! on the subject of depression, did or is anyone required to do a beck survey at every visit? I go to a major hosp in NY who is part of ongoing trials (i'm not part of any ) and they have an electronic device with the beck's survey. some questions are dumb in my opinion, but they use it to gauge drastic emotional changes. It is this info i think might be used in quality of life studies now that I think about it. I"m still pouting I never got a KIT from Roche...
Avatar n tn I suffer from hyperacusis (a collapsed tolerance to sound) and depression. I hear thta 5-HTP helps both. Some questions for any physicians out there. Avatar n tn It sounds as if she might have started having the symptoms 2 years post tx? If so, it would be very hard to find a correlation bt her present symptoms and the meds she stopped taking two years ago. Hopefully is not parkinson's, but a good neurologist should offer some good suggestions and medications that can keep her functioning and improve her quality of life.
