Common Questions and Answers about Depression symptoms remedies

Avatar m tn that is causing the depression. Since you have not mentioned what has led to your depression it is hard to say what might help. There are natural substances such as St. Johns Wart that have some success. Check with your local GNC and ask about natural remedies that help restore dopamine and serotonin levels in the brain. Exercise is a must. The harder you can push yourself the better. This will produce endorphines in the brain which lift your mood.

Avatar n tn Is it inevitable that fybromyalgia will cripple you in years to come, or can things be done to prevent this? I've told her to see her GP about weight loss. She's not grossly overweight, but with her being in pain she's not been exercising as much and it wouldn't hurt her to lose a few pounds to take some pressure off her joints.

885961 tn?1249583403 I was reading in another forum about depression and stress and anxiety attacks because I was looking for something to tell me that either I am normal or that I am not alone in this and noticed many people posted things that are similar to what I have been going through. Just recently in the last couple months I started experiencing Anxiety and OCD again, mild but its still there never the less. I experienced anxiety and OCD when I was a teenager about 15 years old and had an abortion.
Avatar n tn In addition, I am very overweight and tried to lose weight. On and off I will get sick of prescriptions and try a variety of herbal remedies in hopes of finding relief. By accident recently I found a herbal supplement for weight loss that actually seemed to work. It contains ephedra in the form of muhuang extract, willow bark, and something with caffeine, also chromium and a number of other herbs/vitamins.
Avatar n tn typical opiate-like withdrawal symptoms as well as atypical withdrawal symptoms including seizures[citation needed]. The atypical withdrawal symptoms are probably related to tramadol's effect on serotonin and norepinephrine re-uptake.
Avatar f tn I feel like I am dying, I have no energy, I have NO appetite, and I am having flu-like symptoms (to put it nicely). Is there anything I can do to help ease the w/d pain? Any home remedy that helps? I will be giving my next fill of nucynta to my husband for him to give to me daily so this never happens again. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Avatar n tn The remedies are all natural and based on the idea, as far as I understand, that 'a little of what ails you can cure you'. I have been treated for depression and other menopausal symptoms with homeopathy and I have always been amazed by the effectiveness.
370181 tn?1428180348 I tried taking Sam-e, Gaba, Ginsing, Ginko, and a few other home remedies. Sadly nothing seemed to work for my depression. It really sucked to try a new medicine and only finding that the side effects were worse than my depression. I went through about 6 meds before finding one that I could live with. This of course happened over the course of 4 years. Just don't give up! try therapy because it really does help a ton.
380558 tn?1309045987 alot going at home (working, kids, etc etc). I need to know if anyone here has been suffering Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome, Depression, anything unusual since they've stopped taking pain meds..
Avatar n tn I had a major depression with obsession/compulsive "confessions" for about 3 weeks when I was 11 and pubertal (no treatment) and another, with anxiety (again no treatment) at age 18 that lasted about 9 mos. Since then I have been chronically mildly dysthymic I believe, for most of my life, but no major symptoms. Family Hx: I did have grandmother who had a psychotic depression and an uncle who was hospitalized once for depression as an adult.

Avatar m tn I had energy, I could be with people socially, got a girlfriend, did well at work, felt focused and my depression was totally gone. To an extent, Tramadol still works, and I can take 12 pills in a day rather than 16 and still feel ok. The main benefit it's had on me that is that I have zero depressive episodes since I started with the drug. Now I'm quitting. Actually, when I decided to detox a few days ago, I only wanted to "take a break" and reset my tolerance.
Avatar f tn Do not consume caffeine at least 6 hours prior to bedtime. The reason for this longer depression and insomnia symptoms is because Tramadol, besides affecting the opioid receptors, has an effect on the serotonin receptors in the central nervous system. That means you may also need an SSRI antidepressant to deal with some depression that may develop as the result of your withdrawal. But it does get better and better every day if you stick with it, so please don’t give up.
Avatar m tn no sleep, depression, anxiety, numbness in fingertips and toes. Just feel terrible. Are there any natural remedies I can try to bridge the gap? Many thanks.
Avatar m tn As birdie0907 stated that my symptoms are consistent with the depression itself and yes, I know that Everyone (husband, manager, co-worker) is keeping watch, including me. If I can't beat this is another month or two, I will return to the ADs. But, I have to give it time. I tell ya - I'm never going back on lexapro though - I will try some prozac first - no withdraws that I can remember.
Avatar n tn These studies have demonstrated that consuming Tyrosine enhances the production of neurotransmitters and may, in fact, alleviate certain symptoms of depression and improve alertness and focus. Also, studies performed by the military have shown that consuming a L-Tyrosine supplement may enhance cognitive performance. What doses of Tyrosine should be taken? There are no definitive studies showing what doses of L-Tyrosine are most effective.
Avatar f tn I promise you he will have a very different view of his product and his program. Even if his natural remedies include things to address the anxiety and the pain they are no substitute for an accurate dose of synthetic medicine with the same active ingredient. Naturals are not consistent in strength. Consistency is absolutely essential in something like this. Then there is depression from GABA and Dopamine receptors emptying out.
Avatar n tn What can be done to alleviate these symptoms? We are open to herbal remedies as well as traditional remedies and anything that anyone has had success with. Thank you.
Avatar m tn I have what I consider mild depression for some time now. Due to the nature of my job [truck driver] I do not want to take antidepressants. I am taking meds for high blood pressure and the side effects from that is enough. Does anyone know of a natural cure? Do not say I need to see a head shrink, I do not believe they will help as well as empty my wallet. Thanks for any useful info.
Avatar n tn I understand the linkage between disruptive sleep and depression. In my case, a job change twice in one year, and a relationship melt down, stuffing feelings, not attending my 12 step meetings, etc. caused the disrupted circadian cycle. I also understand the connection between low sunlight (we are at Thanksgiving) and wanting to sleep through the "nesting" cycle. Sadly, the two have come together. I also understand the linkage between carbohydrates and serotonin production.
10608291 tn?1411419202 It also can be counterproductive to start some herbal remedies until withdrawal is complete. And you also need to realize that these drugs don't increase serotonin and neither do most natural remedies. Drugs that affect serotonin alter the way the brain uses it, it doesn't increase the amount any. You should also know that nobody knows exactly how St. John's Wort works, but if it affects serotonin, and it probably does in part, it doesn't increase the amount of it.
Avatar n tn But I would recommend going to a health store or pharmacy and seeing what kind of herbal remedies they have. If you live in Canada then I recommend going to Shoppers and getting Herbal Nerve. It works awesome! If not then just ask the pharmacist and they will assist you.
