Avatar n tn Without the ability to examine you and obtain a history I can not tell you what the cause of your memory problems and fatigue are however I will try to provide you with some information. Notes help, if you can remember to write them down and then get lucky enough to find them. Coping with depression is tough, too. The thing that helps me most is to socialize. Exercise, music, reading, anything to distract you from thinking or worrying about the unsolvable problem or the unbearable moment.

Avatar f tn I also, several years ago, had maintenance ECT for 18 months and after that I had 9 months with zero symptoms. The only real side effect is memory loss. Some people have little while other have more. I am very lucky and have minimal memory loss and can usually recall events/things when reminded. When you start ECT you usually have it 3 times a week for 2 to 3 weeks. Most people stop ECT then.
Avatar f tn That is one of many symptoms, but alone is not an indicator or disagnosis of major depression.

1458597 tn?1286376717 I like to feel that I have an amazing memory but when I am in a depression I can not remember much. How I found out I got depression is a long story, but its not like cutting your hand open and seeing bloody or coming out with a rash on your face... depression is in your head and unless you are totally aware of many of us simply have no idea - I did not even know myself that I had depression, I thought that everyone felt like me!
Avatar f tn You are having classic symptoms of both depression and anxiety disorders. You are not unique as myself and others here can definitely relate to the stress, hopelessness, pain and frustration. You mentioned that you were seeking counseling. Is this with a psych specialist? Have you been given a formal diagnosis? There is help available through therapy and/or medication. You don't have to, nor were you meant to live this way.

200220 tn?1361955154 Your other issues might be related to depression, cramps, stress, in other wards, once your depression, cramps, stress are treated, the others may be alleviated. There is a lot more to all this, but as you can see I have already but too much here as it is. Avatar m tn Ask your doctor about Ritaln or Concerta for memory and attention problems. These symptoms can be side effects of depression. There is also Vyvanse and Focalin. If one does not work, try another. They will help with your energy. The meds are out of your system that day; do not linger for weeks.
Avatar f tn I am so sorry that your depression is untreatable, and with all those ECTs it has not improved. I presume no anti-depression medication has been effective in your case either. I presume you have tried them all. You certainly don't sound pathetic, I admire you for being such a fighter. Seems the doctors and psychiatrists have given up on you. Well I do not know what to suggest you do next, seems to me you have tried so hard.
Avatar m tn Like ParamedFlorena mentioned, one of the symptoms of depression is poor memory. Of corse there are many other symptoms that also can indicate if you are suffering from a depressive dissorder. A proper diagnosis really can't be made online like this. The only way to get a proper diagnosis is to see a Psychiatrist for evaluation. Is it possible that you have been and are suffering from Depression? I would say yes, as your description has some of the obvious symptoms.
Avatar n tn Most of my colleagues do not see a strong connection between vitamins and memory in depression. You might ask your doctor about Aricept which has been used to treat memory loss with depression.
Avatar m tn It could also be a reaction to an associated memory. Anxiety and depression often co-exist so the likelihood of having physical complaints is high. Sometimes when we are anxious or depressed we don't recognize the emotional triggers and express the emotional distress as physical symptoms (nausea, headaches, etc). The food aversion kind of reminds me of food poisoning.
Avatar f tn Depressed people may be preoccupied with, or obsess over, thoughts and feelings of worthlessness, inappropriate guilt or regret, helplessness, hopelessness, and self-hatred. 2033435 tn?1329947108 How do you differentiate between hypo symptoms and depression? It seems to me that since I know I have a hypo issue, I am even more fatigued and unable to get out of bed. And this makes me think if the way I feel is psychological related, or if it's from being hypo. In the last 3 weeks I can hardly get out of bed and I can't pinpoint if it's just laziness, depression-related or a hypo symptom. I know hypo causes depression and no one really knows if it's egg or chicken paradox etc.
Avatar n tn Am taking medications for depression and anxiety, and experiencing some memory issues coincident w/disorders or meds. The memory problem: I can attend and event, a lecture, and the like. Be quite focused, attentive, understanding, but afterword can remember little more than what subject matter was covered. Too, experiences during the day, when recollected, seem discrete and unconnected - i.e., can't quite recall when such and such happened or whether it was today or yesterday.
Avatar f tn Disorders of the hypothalamus, chronic fatigue syndrome and psychiatric disorders like depression too cause similar symptoms. To treat memory loss, you have to find the cause first.
Avatar n tn I also have trouble keeping weight off. What concerns me most is that I have memory problems. My short term memory is dismal. Could this be a symtom of the hashimotos? Avatar n tn Dear Anne It is true that some people with traumatic experience can re-experience the emotions every year at the same time the incident had occurred. Symptoms of depression and anxiety can worsen around that time period. I am not sure how much of celexa you are taking per day. If you are unable to tolerate the medication, you may want to discuss other options available with your Psychiatrist.
