Common Questions and Answers about Depression symptoms in men test

Avatar n tn Since the beginning of my illness everything I read regarding the disease, when I stumbled across the stats of men getting it, I read through it. Dx is rare. specially on sub clinical Hypo or Hyper thyroidism in men. I believe this b/c men are less likely to see a doctor when they have symptoms. and if they do go and get Dx'd - most do not have the patience and stay on top of it.
Avatar m tn While these bumps are only visible if I really look for them, they are demarcated and easy for me to locate if I'm close to the mirror (unsure if this is the early stage of wart formation). I also noticed a depression in that part of my face as well. Now its been about 9 days after my encounter and the redness on my face has nearly gone away but the bumps and depression remain.
Avatar m tn Also because my thyroid test results in the past reflected normal thyroid function, they were not complete panel test. I went back in and told him about how the medicine didn't help (like yours didn't help you, please don't take a medicine if it doesn't help you and tell your doctor about it!) and he referred me to my endocrinologist that I love who fixed my health. Sometimes you can take t3 for depression instead of antidepressants and it works when anti depressants do not.
572651 tn?1531002957 I too think women are dismissed very often. But, as we know, it absolutely happens to men. I also think that there is a lot of advertisement where women's health is concerned, warning signs, commercials, etc., however, when you finally decide to go to the Dr. for it to get a good check, it's as if they've not been see the ads, read the articles, etc., (especially where the heart is concerned). I don't understand it, but it does seem disproportionate to me. Why is this?
Avatar f tn I am currently taking Wellbutrin (now for about 3 months) is not relieving my depression symptoms in the least. Talked to my doctor (psychiatrist) this afternoon and explained the situation to him. My symptoms read from the pages of a textbook....feeling depressed, feeling restless, difficulty concentrating, crying jags, unfounded feelings of worthlessness, feelings of sadness, loss of interest in normal daily things and things I used to enjoy, forgetfullness, easy mood changes etc.
Avatar f tn Depression can be a symptom of hypothyroidism, and may indicate a need for adjustment in your medication. Many of us have suffered depression/anxiety when hypo. I, personally, was on anti-anxiety med for about a year; no longer need it. Please post your most current lab results, so members can better assess your testing/treatment. You should be getting test from Free T3, Free T4 and TSH every time you have labs.
1211508 tn?1343083205 It could be depression but you really need to get in to have some testing done. Hormones can drop in men as early as their 20's. A blood test will let you know if this is going on. If it's not the cause then you should think about therapy.

Avatar n tn Trich is hard to find in men, and most often doesn't give symptoms. I'd be surprised if that's what was causing this. A UTI is a possibility, as is MG. Here's some info on MG - - the new test is called the Aptima Mycoplasma genitalium Assay. Your doctor may not know about it.
Avatar m tn 5 grams per day with breakfast) also reduced cortisol levels and improved responses in one test associated with anxiety and depression (measuring attention to positive and negative stimuli). These effects occurred with the use of a galactooligosaccharide prebiotic (Bimuno®-GOS) but not with a fructo-oligosaccharide prebiotic. However, neither prebiotic affected other aspects of stress or anxiety, nor improved working memory and executive functioning (Schmidt, Psychopharmacology 2014).
Avatar f tn So it is possible that getting the Thyroid levels in proper order MAY solve the depression like symptoms. It is however possible that depression is truly present in which case that has to be dealt with as well. It all depends on how sick/depressed she is. But I personally wouldn't like taking mind and mood altering drugs as a first step. I would try to be patient and wait for the Thyroid meds to start to work. This may take up to 6 to 8 weeks.
Avatar n tn These studies have demonstrated that consuming Tyrosine enhances the production of neurotransmitters and may, in fact, alleviate certain symptoms of depression and improve alertness and focus. Also, studies performed by the military have shown that consuming a L-Tyrosine supplement may enhance cognitive performance. What doses of Tyrosine should be taken? There are no definitive studies showing what doses of L-Tyrosine are most effective.

So, my question is: With consistent use of Zovirax and a lack of outbreaks, are the mood symptoms still active??
Avatar f tn Um, duh, I'm in excruciating pain and have all the symptoms they tell you to check out for OVCA, idiot!!! But....... alas, I have some awful cysts on both ovaries right now and about to head out to the ER as I can't stand the pain. Although when I went to ER last year the doc was sure it was diverticulitis; I bet him upon CT that it was a cyst - guess who was right? Me, my own advocate until the onco made me feel like a baby! I'm actually scared to get involved with any more gynos/oncos.

If the test will be in proper lab then it is ok otherwise lab test interpretation cause a huge hurdle. The word uses as “normal” stage where it should checked thoroughly that whether that blood test was in last year or not. Because doctor use functional ranges when working with their patient’s blood.

In one study, twenty-one women and two men responded to an advertisement requesting volunteers "who feel depressed and don't know why, often feel tired even though they sleep a lot, are very moody, and generally seem to feel bad most of the time." The subjects were placed on a caffeine- and sucrose- free diet for one week.
Avatar n tn You see, IBS is probably twice as common in women as compared to men and it’s been noticed that the symptoms of IBS tend to flare up during the menstrual phase and it has something to do with the changes in the hormones that happens during the menstrual cycle. It is also important to know that anxiety and depression, the two common underlying reasons for IBS are also more common in women. I am not aware of IBS leading to an intermentrual bleeding.
Avatar n tn They had to put in a foley. I wanted to leave but they said I had to have the test and then just started putting in the valium. I don't remember the wire going up but was aware at one point of really strong palpitations. My cardiologist didn't say I needed any other tests, just to take his prescription and come back in four months. I was quite happy to just get out of there.

My heart goes out to all you having problems with the pill. I have a 20 year old, 4 months on the pill, experiencing constant anxiety and depression with anger and bouts of crying over small things. I am helping her find alternatives.
Avatar n tn How accurate are stress tests in women? I have heard they are less accurate than in men. When you get a supposedly normal one, how do you accept that it's normal if the test throws a high number of false negatives? I had a nuclear stress test two months ago and it was considered normal. I still have palps, weird chest sensations, arm pain from time to time, shortness of breath (also have asthma). My chiropractor says that it's from my horrible back(nerves being compressed).
Avatar n tn It makes the anxiety bareable, but doesn't do much for my depression. However, there has always been one thing that has relieved all my symptoms; pain medications. First I would like to say something that Im sure everyone knows; these medicines are very addictive and should not be abused. Unfortunately, they are the only things that work for me. The make me completely calm and relaxed, and not wozy and out of it like benzos do.
