Common Questions and Answers about Depression symptoms emedicine

Avatar f tn Goodman, I wonder if you have any information about how Depo-Provera can change the symptoms of ovarian cancer v. ovarian cysts? I have been on Depo-Provera for two years and it seems that it would mask all the symptoms that are most likely to identify a cyst vs. a tumour. Do you know anything about how the two would look different in the presence of Depo-Provera?
Avatar f tn I'm scared that I will get antipsychotic-withdrawal-induced tardive dyskenisia. What are the symptoms of withdrawal and how would withdrawal TD manifest itself? Can anyone who has tapered-off antipsychotics tell me about their experience? I am also afraid that I might not be stable enough with only lithium, which would make my psychiatrist want to put me back on Seroquel, which I DO NOT want.
Avatar f tn From Emedicine/WebMD Grading of the symptoms of hepatic encephalopathy is performed according to the so-called West Haven classification system: * Grade 0 - Minimal hepatic encephalopathy (previously known as subclinical hepatic encephalopathy). Avatar n tn The literature suggests there is no "cure" and that the condition is permanant. Nevertheless my "little one" developed such symptoms at age 99, when I discontinued her psychiatric meds. The symptoms gradually disappeared and ceased to exist when she was 102 years old She is now 106 years old.
Avatar n tn Your search leading you to info about adrenal insufficiency causing certain symptoms to worsen if you start thyroid med, without first correcting it, is same info I first found. I also ordered home tests from "" for morning and midnight cortisol/dhea levels. Over a year period, I took 4-diff. saliva tests and 1-urine test(24hour) and all five were either low normal, borderline low and clinically low.
Avatar n tn I would need to know what symptoms she would get, and also if there could be a particular reason why she got this disease (took the wrong pills, got stung by a bug or something like that). It would also be good if you could tell me what test one would have to run to diagnose the disease. The critera the story has is that a) The illness must be require a long hospital stay b) It can't be contageous.
Avatar n tn EndometrITIS is not endometriOSIS. It is a infection of the endometrium, which is why you took antibiotics to clear it up. antibiotics do not work for endometriosis. Endometritis is cause by previous birth or IUD, or by infection (certain ones including clymidia and BV) and a few other factors. You can go to emedicine and search endometritis to read more. It should not have a lasting affect on you. Good luck!!!!!
Avatar n tn That was actually supposed to read maternal depression, harsh parenting, etc. And the maternal depression they refer to is related to serious neglect, etc. of the child.
Avatar f tn The insomnia if it is a short term withdrawal symptom should pass in time and if the apathy has the same cause it should as well. Withdrawal symptoms (I have experienced them myself when changing medications too abruptly which is something I don't do anymore) will go away in time but you could discuss this with your psychiatrist for a full answer.
Avatar f tn My daughter is a recovering drug addict and has also suffered from an eating disorder and depression. Over the course of 2 years she was hospitalized 4 times and was put on various medications. Some of the medications she was on in a 26 month period were Lexapro, Trazadone, Risperdal, Celexa, Prozac and Adderal, I am sure there were more but it has been 3 years. While she was on the Risperdal she started having some involuntary movement of her jaw and would make odd sounds with her throat.
572651 tn?1531002957 He says even people who sleep well can have anxious moments that manifest themselves in physical symptoms. He thinks it is anxiety and I should start a drug for that and his recommendation is what he is sending to my PCP. He asks am I under stress - to which I said, yes of course I am. I had a heart attack, I have MS and I'm not supposed to be stressed? He says, well yes, but that stress is causing my anxiety and the anxiety is causing my chest pains.
505363 tn?1211210560 it's all there on the emedicine symptoms of Hepatitis C page. i was shocked. it all makes sense. it just confirms that i do/did have this Hep C. it's just my liver tests have been normal for 6 years (once a year for 4 of the years i was tested), and yesterday i got normal results again. how could i have End Stage Liver Disease, if this is the end stage "reverting to default normal due to liver so bad the tests don't show anymore" sign? sorry to go on.
Avatar n tn The term postcholecystectomy syndrome (PCS) describes the presence of symptoms after cholecystectomy. These symptoms can represent either the continuation of symptoms thought to be caused by the gallbladder or the development of new symptoms normally attributed to the gallbladder. PCS also includes the development of symptoms caused by removal of the gallbladder. Two types of problems may arise.

61536 tn?1340701763 And yes, some patients' have depression and anxiety issues that may cause some of their symptoms. Physicians' are also responsibile for ruling out those conditions before any other diagnosis. 147426 tn?1317269232 The fact remains that the psycological effect of this whishy washy criteria is devastating to those of us suffering from this uncertainty. Not only dealing with the symptoms but the depression. What can we do to change this? Thank you again Quix and Dr Kantor for your time.
Avatar n tn 9 years ago had unprotected sex with a coworker. Within one or two days, 2 very prominent symptoms started. #1 a flakey (almost scaley) round lesion on tip of penis head on the left side. Did not really itch or hurt and no burning or pain in urination. #2 very loose stool. Not diahrea just very very loose and tough to wipe clean. So I within a week go to my doctor and she does absolutely nothing. Go back and again does absolutely nothing.
Avatar f tn I do know that I had many of the standard symptoms of schizoaffective disorder from difficulty relating to people (negative symptoms) to psychotic thoughts (positive symptoms not as in good but as in things that shouldn't be there that are) and trouble processing and understanding ideas (cognitive symptoms) before my current recovery from schizoaffective disorder (and still experience some of these concerns). I also reacted differently from one medication to the other.
Avatar f tn I guess it's not that big of a deal. No one is coming on here saying my symptoms were their first major symptoms, so I'll just let it go and see another doctor if new symptoms form, which they probably won't. Thank you for indulging me a bit, all. I wish you all luck with your health and well-being.
Avatar m tn After that, if other signs are present, a doctor should run a stress echo and do a doppler of the heart to determine if there are any dangerous blockages causing the symptoms. If none are found then the only thing doctors can do is treat the symptoms and watch for progression. Unlike television, medicine does not cure all ills, and it is not infallable.
Avatar n tn I am a hypochondriac myself and know that you can go online and find any disease to match your symptoms. To a normal person their fatigue means they are tired to a person like you or me it means leukemia or lymphoma. Just remember that these doctors have spent years or even decades researching and studying the human body and know what they are doing. It is understandble to get a 2nd opinion but when 4 or more doctors all tell you the same thing you kind of know its in your head.
198419 tn?1360245956 I think this visit he might say only come back if it gets worse as I seem to be stable, although I get symptoms I am now thinking this is migraine. He has done 3 MRI in two years, but only one brain MRI, which was my first one. My latest exams seem to be the same as the first one but he seems to concentrate on strength, balance, and babinski, and my reflexes, he hasn't made me do the face thing again but he always checks my eyes. I see him on Monday and I like him, he is a MS Specialist.
Avatar f tn The current drugs cause of host of other ill effects such as lowered immunity, high blood pressure, thyroid issues, depression and many others. Of course there are other drugs to treat those issues. My head is not in the sand, I am just standing up to Pharma Cartel because there "cure" is worse than the cause.
Avatar n tn I don't have any problems breathing, nor do I have any other symptoms, like coughing, raspiness or wheezing. Just this persistent urge to breathe deeply. A lot of posts I've seen on related symptoms seem to think this is anxiety, but I really don't think that I have a lot of anxiety right now. Any ideas? This discussion is related to urgency to take deep breaths.
Avatar n tn I have the exact same symptoms. It feels like someone is putting a hot water bottle on my calf. It lasts for about 15 to 30 seconds, but has been happening several times a day. Please let me know if you have any info.
Avatar f tn I have not been able to distinguish a common thread for the cause besides the symptoms and the temporary relief from ice. I hope there is a doctor out there, or a team of doctors, that is aware of this and will take the time to find the cause and cure of brachioradial pruritus. I've read that it is caused by one of two (or both) things: prolonged exposure to sun, and /or something with a nerve in the cervical spine.
