Common Questions and Answers about Depression symptoms checklist

Avatar m tn I still feel terrible, even worse since my original diagnoses. My current TSH is 98.40 mIU/L. I'm a 46 yr. old male and have most symptoms. The worser ones are depression, fatigue, 60+ weight gain, extreme dry/leathery skin (I even have bad patches that look like psoriasis), ear ringing, and I can't walk without my legs getting heavy and extreme lower back pain.
428506 tn?1296560999 Sure, worsening symptoms are a reasonable cause for some situational depression, but when my symptoms act up I feel as though I get depressed beyond what I'd expect for the circumstances. I think I cope with this pretty well, I never make (or even contemplate) major life/work decisions when I feel like this, and I distract myself with a lot of humorous shows or silly movies, etc.
Avatar f tn I am sure my husband suffers from depression! I have checked the symptoms and he ticks 19 out of 21. He is extremely negative and fault finding, low in energy, irritable, with mood swings, tired but working all the time, lack of focus, sensitive to noise, low tolerance and easily turning things to negative even when there is nothing apparently wrong and we may be having a nice day.
Avatar n tn I agree, check the thyroid. "google in" thyroid symptoms checklist and see how many symptoms exist. Also, "google in" subclinical hypothroidism and read about that. I was told my thyroid was perfect (for 15 years) I knew it wasn't and my doctor wouldn't agree to try and treat it. I went to a naturapathic doc specializing in thyroid who did extensive tests and matched them to my symptoms (I had all the symptoms).

Avatar n tn both of which are treatment resistant. The physical and mental symptoms of my anxiety and depression are horrible. I have taken almost every single anti-depressant and anti-anxiety medication out there...SSRIs, SNRIs, atypicals, etc. My internist actually has noted that I am allergic to a number of SSRIs because of the extreme aggression and disorientation it they have caused me.
Avatar m tn The reason I chose 8 instead of 10 is that the study that I have mentioned showing the correlation of FT3 to symptoms, included only 8 symptoms. They referred to those as the most typical 8, and got the study participants to subjectively give each of the 8 a numerical rating. Then they added all the ratings for a given patient and used that total symptom score in the study.
770296 tn?1244389441 I am just back from my doctors after being told the same thing, he did take test for antibodies but when I asked if could have free T3 tested as advised on here, he looked at me as if I was stupid, shook his head and said my thyroid test results are not that abnormal and it was depression causing my aches and pains, fatigue etc. I asked if I could have a copy of last 3 results, he said his printer wasn`t working so could not but that my TSH levels were low???
432411 tn?1206475709 I was recommended to a doctor who specialises in hormonal medicine. He had a 13 page in-depth checklist of symptoms which I completed. His diagnosis was hypothyroid despite the tests (I have heard false negatives mentioned a lot when researching this Depo/hypo topic!). He said my symptoms were way too clearly pointing at it. I was put on NATURAL THYROID EXTRACT RATHER THAN SYNTHETIC and experienced incredible change once I reached my therapeutic dose (for me it was 3.0 grain).
Avatar n tn acknowledged the sexual side effects but said that the withdrawl symptoms were due to my depression still being presant, not quitting the drug. I'm sure he knows more about it than I do but it really doesn't matter what the reason, it was not pleasant.
938326 tn?1300882404 Then in June of the same year I had the exact same symptoms, wasnt taking any prescriptions at all. I went to the emerg where they treated me for heat exhaustion, I had been in the sun for a few hours that attributed it to that. I owned a boat the for yearsand spent my whole days laying on it and sun tanning fishing etc. I never once had heat exhaustion or heat stroke.

Avatar n tn Even if you don't feel sad or upset, it wouldn't hurt to go through the depression/anxiety checklist. Also, maybe try exercising (not later than 3 hours before bedtime), taking your mind off your symptoms, or doing some yoga or relaxing stretches to help quiet your muscles. If any of these things works, it will be cheaper and less stressful than putting yourself through tons of medical tests.....
494594 tn?1212971528 If you really want to find out why your child is having certain symptoms that may be affecting him or her at school and at home, we need to understand how the child learns, processes information, rule/out learning disabilities, and make sure that anxiety or depression is not creating these symptoms.
1618236 tn?1408075814 It is certainly possible. Although your labs do not suggest that your thyroid status is much outside the "normal" (in fact different doctors would say different things about whether the isolated elevation in your TSH is significant or not). One useful way of assessing this is for you to find a checklist of "hypothyroid" symptoms to see whether and to what extent your physical symptoms suggest that your thyroid is possibly causing you problems.

Avatar n tn My symptoms first started around 1998. I got extreme nausea attacks that could only be remedied by lying down on my back. If I stood up, I got nauseated. The nausea attacks would hit at any time of day, not traced to eating, etc. I then started to get panic attacks. Something I have never had before. I only vomited one time, and when I went to the doctors, the first thought I had the flu. Then I went through all of the medications: Prevacid, etc.
Avatar f tn My doctor thought I had fibromyalgia but I had a severe magnesium deficiency. Magnesium is one of the many reasons for depression. My main reason for depression and fatigue however was due to vitamin B12 malabsorption. Since only 1% of magnesium is in the blood, a deficiency may be missed. The easily way to see if your symptoms improve is to start trying chelated magnesium supplements. I noted improvements in the first week. By three months I was free of my 50 + symptoms.
1266429 tn?1270330546 She didn't even look at my checklist of symptoms, but she agreed to order the tests. She ordered a TSH and a CBC to check for Anemia. I asked her about the T3 and T4 tests but she said they weren't needed, that TSH was enough to let us know if something is wrong with my Thyroid. To add to that, she said until then perhaps I might want a referral to a psychiatrist. I didn't know how to take that as from the beginning it felt that she was talking to me like a hypochondriac.
Avatar n tn My previous doctor basically said all of my symptoms were psychosomatic because of a paper she had me fill out, it was a checklist with various symptoms. So from this little checklist she determined that ALL of my symptoms are probably psychosomatic and wanted to put me on depression pills. I don't feel that a checklist is sufficient enough to come to that conclusion at all!
Avatar n tn I really hate to say this, but those are early signs of Parkinson's Disease. I have listed the "checklist" of early warning signs below. I hope this is not the case, but the earlier it is diagnosed the better, When a reader of my blog asked about the early warning signs of Parkinson’s Disease (PD), I was caught off guard. I know what full-blown PD looks like, but I’d forgotten what PD might look like before it may even be diagnosed.
Avatar n tn Each day your son brings from the teacher a simple checklist about whether or not he has complied with the rules. If he has, he should have access to his privileges. If not, he should not have his privileges. Each day begins anew. The most effective version of this plan is to bring each day an index card rules into two halves: one for the morning session and one for the afternoon session.
1736482 tn?1311619609 Back to Top of Gluten Intolerance Symptoms It may help you to have a more succinct gluten intolerance symptoms checklist. I will try to provide you one here, but keep in mind how there are over 250 documented symptoms of a gluten sensitivity and their manifestation varies greatly from person to person. With this list I think I have isolated both the most common symptoms and the most important symptoms you should know about right away.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am a 19 year old male, I suffer from depression and anxiety. I haven't seen the doctor yet for it, so I haven't been diagnosed with cronic depression, just recently I had an experience that led me to fear that I have contracted HIV!

Avatar n tn Then it just went back to normal one night. Then when I was 22 I got sick again same stuff as the first but more symptoms. I developed more vision problems , a few small blind spots and very choppy field of vision, a tingling or burning in my head and some down my neck and spine. My thoughts were jumbled ,I had confusion, I couldnt hear my thoughts in my head as well.So I was scared as hell.I went to the doc and same thing anti depressants and no diagnosis.
Avatar m tn I was hospitalized last year, and no one figured out after a million tests what my problem was, and the symptoms are back. I have really bad pains in both of my hands and sometimes other joints. When I am not paying attention my hands fold up weird. I have nausea, fatigue, and diarrhea as well. Ten years ago, when I was 19, I saw an orthapediic surgeon for back problems, and he told me that I had the "bone structure of a 60 year old women".
