Depression medication vyvanse

Common Questions and Answers about Depression medication vyvanse

Avatar m tn There's a blurb in the drug insert about developing depression symptoms while taking Vyvanse. You need to call your doctor and tell her what's going on. Whether or not you have adhd is something you'll have to discuss with your doctor, as she's your best resource. Some people try one medication and it doesn't do a thing for them. If Vyvanse does nothing for you, except make you depressed, then perhaps another medication may be worth a try.
Avatar f tn I have been switched from Cymbalta (weight gain) to Fetzima (weight loss) and additionally 50mg of Vyvanse for adult ADD. My symptoms of depression have subsided. I do not notice any huge difference in my attention span and still feel distracted when reading, unable to focus. I also feel tired and appear to crash about every afternoon regardless of when I take the medication, which is in the morning.
Avatar n tn he refered me to a psych. my psych told me that vyvanse would help my add and my depression. he started me on 30mg and had to move me up to 50mg after 2 weeks because it was wearing off half way through the day and i would get extremely tired. when i first started taking the drug i noticed that i was more clear headed and driven through the day. at the same time i noticed that my appetite had decressed,my throat stayed dry and i was having trouble falling asleep.
Avatar m tn I have no intention of ever taking this medication again, and I do feel ok now, but i have read that vyvanse overdoses can lead to death, and i just want to make sure im actually OK.
Avatar f tn My 20 year old son recently gradually weaned off 60 mg/day Vyvanse so that he can join the Marines (must be off for 1 year - military rules). He is having a very rough time. Extreme fatigue, totally unmotivated, extreme focus issues. He says he feels like a totally different person off totally off the med. Appetite is high too but he knows how to control that. My question is are these symptoms temporary - does it take a while for his body to adjust to being off the med?
Avatar f tn and a mild degree of depression when the medication is wearing off (because depression is something I would have to learn how to think positively and exercise and read scripture and pray myself out of anyway--and also focus on helping and showing appreciation to others). *** I described all these legitimate reasons for limiting or avoiding amphetamines because there are some misinformed reasons for avoiding them.
Avatar f tn I have a question about Vyvanse. Currently, I am on 70mg. The problem is it wears off after 4-5 hours and I experience the worst crash and depression! I have experimented and taken 2 Vyvanse 70mg in one day.. one at 7am & the other at 1pm. That dosage lasted me until 9pm that night. I have read tons of articles about this wearing off on ADHD websites & forums.I also read where doctors are prescribing up to 210mg of Vyvanse. The most common high dose is 140mg.
Avatar n tn I tried welbutrin and it knocked me out, provigil did the same. I've been on the new Vyvanse for a few weeks now and it is too good to be true. I feel like the person I always wanted to be: Alert, funny, not compulsive with food But now the fears begin. I'm terrified and obsessed with the idea that this is a honeymoon period and it will all wear off. I constantly search the boards for a confirmation of this fear.
Avatar f tn so I talked to my doctor about it,and man what a difference in down from 16mg suboxone to 8mg after starting the vyvanse,at first I never thought I would ever come off month going to 4mg and so on until I'm off.the best thing about it is I don't hold my vyvanse so I can't abuse.laugh if you want but Dr brought my mom in made her sign contract that she would bring it too me every morning,I also had to sign for drug test .but it has been well worth it.
Avatar n tn Wellbutrin Prozac Lithium Klonipin Topamax Vyvanse I also want to get off my meds. It has been 2 years since my first major depression episode.
1666464 tn?1303228958 I don't know it's really weird but here's how it usually works when I try to go on some sort of ADD/ADHD medication. Also mind you that I've only been prescribed Adderall and Vyvanse so I can only reference the symptoms that I receive from these. Usually when I start taking the medication everything's fine. It works out well and about 2 weeks from when I began the medication I begin to start noticing side-effects.
Avatar m tn I am taking Vyvanse and Prozac, and I'm having trouble getting myself to eat. I am still in a healthy weight range, so I'm not worried about that. But I've been weak, fatigued, and dizzy at times because I'm not eating enough. Are there any protein shakes I should try, or something like that, so I can be getting the nutrients I need? I hate most protein shakes because I can't stand the texture, and they're usually gross. But I have to do something.
1447814 tn?1284739057 No one wants to medicate their child it isn't the easy way out that ignorance and misinformed know I talks who don't understand the true science behind it and I pray they never have to see a child suffer the way I did before I finally put myself and my ego aside and allowed the medication to balance my child. Tell all these no medication people that when or if they get diabetes that they cannot have insulin try a better diet. That's ********.
Avatar f tn I can't help you much, but I think the others before me did a pretty darn good job on explaining ADHD medication and their side effects. I have only been on Concerta and Vyvanse. All that I really know is Vyvanse is the newest of the group. It is what I am currently on, and love it. It really is great... it is also a stimulant, which is perfect for me, since I suffer from insomnia. I know everyone is different, but if your doctor suggests it, I highly recommend that you try it.
Avatar f tn He then prescribed to me the amphetamine, Vyvanse (30mg). I was to take it the very next morning after breakfast. I have had very few problems with the my other medications, like the antidepressant, Zoloft (50mg), and the antihistamine, Zyrtec (10mg). But I have started to notice some very disturbing and confusing side effects the same day I started taking this. On Friday, I had taken one pill in the morning and left to go to school (I had taken my other medications the night before).
Avatar n tn i have started to back off the vyvanse. i am opening up the capsule and taking about half of the medication. i would like to quit it all together, but have been told i need to go slowly off of it. has anyone else started having problems with an ADHD medication after taking it successfully for awhile?

Avatar f tn I agree with Sandman2 that you are taking too much. The first medication the doctor tried on me was vyvanse. I started on 30 mg which didn't last long enough. I was in college when I was taking it and took it at 9am and it was gone by 3-4pm. She increased my dose to 50 mg which was too much for me.
Avatar m tn Some of the psyc's I have read question treating the depression without also treating the ADHD (since it could be causing the depression). Tend to agree with you on the Zoloft. And if you are bipolar, its really nasty -
Avatar m tn He is taking meds that I feel couter act one another....reperidone.25mg 2 x day, vyvanse 30 mg 1 x a day, zoloft 1/2 25mg a day, and methyphidate 10 mg 1 x a day in afternoon. Help. Does these different medicines seem necessary. He is still have concentration issues.
Avatar f tn Depression is a very common co-disorder of AD/HD. A lot of the time its the AD/HD that is the reason for the depression. And for good reason. If you don't understand what ADHD is doing to you - you are going to be depressed. By the way, anxiety is also a common co-disorder for the same reason. So yes, there is probably a very good chance that you are depressed. Vyvanse can last 8 to 12 hours. Too small a dose will not last as long.

Avatar f tn I was put on ADHD medication at 6 years old. I was on it for many years and it gave me disabling depression because it causes damage to the fragile dopamine system. I was a normal happy kid with way too much energy. Now I'm adult who can't work and struggles to get out of bed because of what this drug did to me.
Avatar f tn I would venture to guess that the weed/Vyvanse combo set something off. I've smoked my fair share in the past and absolutely cannot on Vyvanse or similar drugs. My brother in-law had a similar experience when he was about 16/17. He mixed many drugs and his brain sort of snapped. He has a family history of bi-polar. Some people have a genetic disposition for disorders and they lay dormant until something activates it, like a weed/meth combo. I know you are scared.
Avatar f tn At the moment I take long active 25mg(which seems pretty high already), but I'm starting to think I should change my medication, because when I take it I can feel: loss in appetite, fatigue, moodiness, dehydration, mouth dryness, increased amount of pee, my eyes seem to move slower, tiredness, and my major issue is that it can make me often feel depressed or negative about my life which make me anti social and etc....
Avatar m tn What the drug targets ect. Even if I had experience with this drug, you are different. Please take the medication with an open mind and a positive attitude. Give the pills every chance to work for you. Everyone knows cutting out sugar, soda & junk food helps depression. Exercise too. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Im a 19 years old boy and i have tried vyvanse which did miracles at first at 20mg until the effect decreased and had to go up to 60mg with no effects except the bad ones and went back to my old self(lazy, tired, unmotivated etc.). I am now on concerta 36mg and it seems like working but not all the time and clearly not as much as first time vyvanse.
Avatar m tn Ask your doctor about Ritaln or Concerta for memory and attention problems. These symptoms can be side effects of depression. There is also Vyvanse and Focalin. If one does not work, try another. They will help with your energy. The meds are out of your system that day; do not linger for weeks.
Avatar f tn Latuda is a medication known as an atypical antipsychotic that is used to treat symptoms of schizophrenia. The drug is also sometimes prescribed to treat depressive symptoms in bipolar disorder." It is not recommended for children unless they have bipolar depression or for adhd! What kind of a doctor prescribed this? I really need to know what she has tried to be more helpful. So here is a link to the most commonly used meds..... http://healthlifeandstuff.
