Avatar m tn I am taking Trazodone. I Was prescribed 2 100 mg tablets. I started with 25 mg at bedtime. I can see that as I increase the nightly dose to 50 mg or more it will help with sleep and the other stuff. I am concerned about the numerous side effects of the med. It is an older med. Is there a newer med that will help with my sleep & depression & anxiety, & social anxiety that has less serious side effects?
Avatar f tn I had a baby 8 months ago and had a very difficult pregnancy dealing with anxiety and depression. I took medication during it but was afraid every day of the effects of the medication. Once I had the baby I was like I'm going to tackle this problem once an for all. My major problem is anxiety, next is restless and agitated sleep, next is depression and maybe a little OCD.
1618236 tn?1408072214 I am currently taking Haldol 0.5 mg twice a day, Trazodone 50 mg and Doxepin 50 mg for my anxiety and depression symptoms, can you please tell me if these are all okay to take together and am I suppose to take these with food or milk? Is Haldol a dangerous drug combined with the other two medications?
Avatar n tn Unfortunatly, I don't know a heck of a lot about Trazodone. Isn't it an anti-anxiety medication? If it is then I really doubt that would be the one causing your elivated anxiety level. As FMXSMKR mentioned, Effexor (Venlafaxine) is known for it's "pick me up" sort of properties. I would also have to lean toward the Effexor as the med that may be causing you the increase in anxiety.
1915001 tn?1322662784 Trazdone is a medication used for depression and to relive anxiety. Your body has a natural rhythm and sleep cycle. The body can become dependent on the drug to the point where your does not secrete the natural hormones to induce real, natural, quality sleep which in turn causes insomnia and anxiety. BTW what kind of stuff are you WD from?
1041243 tn?1375230520 I have ocd, gad, and moderate depression (all have been formally diagnosed). A week ago my psychiatrist stopped my 200 mgs of zoloft and started me on luvox 50 mgs a day for the first two weeks then 100 mgs a day there after. A couple days later I started expiriencing major withdrawal symptoms, severe anxiety and panic (more so than usual), insomnia, and some slight agoraphobia (I don't like to leave the house, but I will if I need too) and even stronger ocd symptoms.
Avatar n tn Trazodone, just wondering if anybody that takes this medication has erections during the night, kind of annoying, not prolonged thuough to the point where you need to go to the ER just an erection that lasts a litle while than goes away and comes back later. I took it lastnight slept for two hours woke up with it, fell back asleep for another 2 woke up again with it, waited and it went down. havent taken it since kinda freaked me out... not sexually active but I do masterbate 3 times a week.
Avatar m tn I've had problems sleeping for years and have had job related stress adding up over the past 3 years. I have start experiencing anxiety/panic/jittery feelings. I have been off work for a month trying to seek therapy. I've been taking 75mgs of trazodone for 2 weeks, but haven't felt a change in m daily jittery/nervous feelings. It has help with sleep. Am I on the right course with trazodone?
Avatar f tn My wife took 100 mg Trazadone every night before bed as a sleeping aid, an off label use. I tried it myself and it didn't work as a sleep aid. I was also looking form help with stress caused depression, it didn't seem to help me in that area either. I switched to Sertraline (Zoloft) not sure if that will help with depression or not. I find the generic Ambien doesn't help me sleep either.
Avatar n tn anyway, he has a hard time sleeping, ambien doesnt always help, and he also has some depression, so we thought this might be a good medication for him. thanks in advance.
Avatar f tn I've been taking trazodone. Does anyone know if trazodone makes you gain weight? If so, is it because of increase appetite or the pill itself that makes you gain weight?
Avatar f tn Sleep doc wants me off paxil b/c of its effect on REM sleep. Could I take trazodone for anxiety with the wellbutrin? Or something else for anxiety that doesn't affect rem sleep?
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever tried Lithium, Trazodone , Abilify all together? If so how has this been for you?
1654177 tn?1319838494 5 pills, not the recommended dose of 2), sometimes Benadryl. Anyway, my primary care doctor prescribed me Trazodone. I am waiting to hear back from my hep C doc to check on drug interactions. Anyway, I feel like the OTC sleep aid will be hard on my liver and renal system if I take them every night for the next 5 months. Does anyone else take a sleep aid? What are your thoughts or experiences? Does Trazodone have wierd side effects too? Thanks guys and gals!
Avatar m tn I called the pharmacist and he insists that these types of symptoms are extremely rare so it is extremely unlikely that the symptoms were caused by the trazodone... it seems bizzarely cooincidental to me. He has stopped taking the trazodone (was prescribed to help him sleep, and it didn't do a particularly good job at that anyways), but is now worried about taking a prescribed medication he may not need. Help?
Avatar m tn My psychiatrist just bumped me up to 150mg and I took the first of that dose tonight. He also prescribed me trazodone for my insomnia that was most likely caused by the zoloft. I've been averaging 3-4 hours a night these past few months and it's been pretty miserable. But I've never taken a sleep aid before and I'm a little scared. I was told to take it an hour before I wanted to go to sleep. It's not like I don't trust my doctor, he's been pretty good to me.
2010625 tn?1329372056 If you are diagnosed with depression then it's possible that this particular medication doesn't work for you and you may need to try a new one, or that your dose needs to be upped. If you're diagnosed with bipolar then it's possible that you need to be on both a mood stabilizer and an antidepressant.
Avatar n tn I am trying to wean off of wellbutrin and start trazodone for depression and stay on zoloft for anxiety. If someone can help me I would greatly appreciate it.
Avatar n tn As for your medication Lexapro is an SSRI used to treat major depression and generalized anxiety disorder. Trazadone is a tricyclic, which is older medication used to treat major depression. Different medications work differently foor different individuals and produce different side effects. If cost is an issue, I would discuss that issue with your doctor who can provide you with valuable advice about alternatives. A pharmacist is also a good resource.
Avatar f tn hello i am currently take cymbalta for 2 months ago, is a good medication for major depression but i actually experiences some side effects like insomnia and sexual side effects, like orgasm problems and no genital sensations. insomnia can be treated with other medications like trazodone..
Avatar m tn I have been on 40 mg of Celexa for 8 months, but was still having bad anxiety so today my doctor prescribed me 37.5 mg of Effexor XR. He was going to prescribe me Welbutrin, but I had been on that in the past and it didn't work so instead he prescribed the Effexor.
Avatar f tn Adderall you can stop any time with no problem. Trazodone needs to be tapered off - "Your doctor should be recommending that you reduce your dosage by 50–100mg a day every 3–5 days if you need to stop taking trazodone." Trazodone is an anti-anxiety/depression med and helps a lot for sleeping at night. Adderall is a standard med for ADHD. You do want to see if the Adderall is wearing off too soon. Does he do better in morning classes then in the afternoon, etc.
Avatar f tn I am researching safe depression medication to take when I go on the treatment for hepatitis C. I am on Wellbutrin now and I am finding myself crying now and I have not even started treatment because I already suffer from depression but not badly (normally). Life will change now as I do not know how I will respond to the effects. I would love some input on what effects others are having with the treatment and I am really happy to have found this site to have people to talk to.
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed trazodone 100mg (I think it said mg) for my insomnia that I have suffered with for the last 15 years due to a thyroid problem I had years ago. I took it for the first time last night, but I did not fall asleep or even come close to falling asleep. I took it at 8:30pm and went to bed at 9pm, but ended up getting out of bed at 10pm because I could not sleep. The only difference I feel is a huge headache this morning.
