1915001 tn?1322666384 Trazdone is a medication used for depression and to relive anxiety. Your body has a natural rhythm and sleep cycle. The body can become dependent on the drug to the point where your does not secrete the natural hormones to induce real, natural, quality sleep which in turn causes insomnia and anxiety. BTW what kind of stuff are you WD from?
Avatar n tn This pertains to my first question about the multiple depression medication. Do these cause memory loss as well, for I have told my partner a lot of things about myself in just a matter of 3 months and she doesn't seem to remember most of those things. She also seems apathetic about what and how her kids talk to her. I don't know if this is a result of this medication or not.
Avatar n tn dear, amysue, i don't know what strattera is, but maybe you need more meds to control your depression and agitation. you need trazodone for your agitation and a good depression med. talk to your doctor about this. i went to a therapist and they try to get you out of all this with no meds. its not right. depression is a physical illness.try it and let me know.
649598 tn?1239120815 I am about to start taking trazodone for depression and panic attacks. I am also taking 0.25 mg's of digoxin for supraventricular tachycardia. I have read that trazodone can cause increased absorption of digoxin. Is it possible to be on both at the same time? Would it solve the problem if my dose of digoxin was lowered to counteract the increased absorption?
Avatar f tn In this way, Cipralex helps relieve depression, panic and fear. Trazodone is an tetracyclic antidepressant medication. It is thought to increase the activity of one of the brain chemicals (serotonin) which may become unbalanced and cause depression. It may also be used for relief of anxiety disorders (eg, sleeplessness, tension) and chronic pain. Trazodone is used to treat depression.
Avatar n tn Hi im a 20 year old male, I take 40mg celexa, 2mg xanax and I was just given a perscription for trazodone 50mg at bedtime, ive only taken it once because I wake up a few times thruout the night with a very erect penis, its not painful and it goes away after a little while, It does help me sleep and stops me from worrying so much which kept me from sleeping so I feel I can benefit from it, but that side effect is freaking me out. Should I discontinue or is it safe to be taking?
Avatar m tn My psychiatrist just bumped me up to 150mg and I took the first of that dose tonight. He also prescribed me trazodone for my insomnia that was most likely caused by the zoloft. I've been averaging 3-4 hours a night these past few months and it's been pretty miserable. But I've never taken a sleep aid before and I'm a little scared. I was told to take it an hour before I wanted to go to sleep. It's not like I don't trust my doctor, he's been pretty good to me.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Trazodone 100mg at bedtime for 2 weeks now for depression. The last several night I noticed that I had an uncomfortable feeling in my throat but it wasn't that bad so I ignored it. Last night the feeling was much worse. My throat feels tight and uncomfortable. I am not going to take the trazodone tonight and will follow up with my psychiatrist tomorrow (it is the weekend). Has anyone has this experience? How long did the sensation last after stopping the medication?
Avatar m tn I am surprised your doctor offered such a potent medication for mild depression. Trazodone is a psychoactive compound with sedative and anti-depressant properties. Your correct in thinking that counseling and support groups are the first thing that should be advised. Chronic pain Pt's do tend to have depression issues and some more prominent than others. I would definitely try the counseling and support groups before medications.
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed trazodone 100mg (I think it said mg) for my insomnia that I have suffered with for the last 15 years due to a thyroid problem I had years ago. I took it for the first time last night, but I did not fall asleep or even come close to falling asleep. I took it at 8:30pm and went to bed at 9pm, but ended up getting out of bed at 10pm because I could not sleep. The only difference I feel is a huge headache this morning.
Avatar n tn _ Dear Lara, Trazodone is an antidepressant medication that is used for depression and often helps with insomnia. It was first marketed in the U. S. in 1981. Patients receiving constant dosages show wide variations in blood levels and in clearance of the medication from the body. Trazodone's half-life is generally between 5 and 9 hours.
783281 tn?1259695031 As for ambien it never really worked that good for me and it has the potential to be much more habit forming than trazodone. I would give the trazodone some more time to see if your body starts to deal with the hangover effects a little better before you go back to ambien cr. In the past one thing that did work for me was remeron(mirtazapine 15-30mgs), along with melatonin.
Avatar f tn I am researching safe depression medication to take when I go on the treatment for hepatitis C. I am on Wellbutrin now and I am finding myself crying now and I have not even started treatment because I already suffer from depression but not badly (normally). Life will change now as I do not know how I will respond to the effects. I would love some input on what effects others are having with the treatment and I am really happy to have found this site to have people to talk to.
711224 tn?1344775287 The depression sets in again and I am scared to death, I just hate being in the black, dark hole.
Avatar n tn I was wondering since the medication trazodone can cause drug induced hepatitis would it be bad for me to take it if I already have viral hepaitis c?

Avatar n tn I really need Zopiclone at the moment, and don't intend to stop taking it, and intend to continue Trazodone as it is my primary treatment for depression at the moment. I do however, want rid of Tramadol as soon as possible, so welcome this as an option. Thanks so much for reading, I hope somebody can help.
Avatar f tn I had a baby 8 months ago and had a very difficult pregnancy dealing with anxiety and depression. I took medication during it but was afraid every day of the effects of the medication. Once I had the baby I was like I'm going to tackle this problem once an for all. My major problem is anxiety, next is restless and agitated sleep, next is depression and maybe a little OCD.
1041243 tn?1375234120 I have ocd, gad, and moderate depression (all have been formally diagnosed). A week ago my psychiatrist stopped my 200 mgs of zoloft and started me on luvox 50 mgs a day for the first two weeks then 100 mgs a day there after. A couple days later I started expiriencing major withdrawal symptoms, severe anxiety and panic (more so than usual), insomnia, and some slight agoraphobia (I don't like to leave the house, but I will if I need too) and even stronger ocd symptoms.
1618236 tn?1408075814 I am currently taking Haldol 0.5 mg twice a day, Trazodone 50 mg and Doxepin 50 mg for my anxiety and depression symptoms, can you please tell me if these are all okay to take together and am I suppose to take these with food or milk? Is Haldol a dangerous drug combined with the other two medications?
Avatar f tn At this point I could care less what they want to label my problems as. What I do care about however, is finding a medication that will help with my depression. None of the usual antidepressants have worked- Prozac, Zoloft, and so on. I tried Lamictal for several months and was at 200 mg a day and still felt absolutely no effect other than a slight decrease in anxiety. I tried Vivid as well and also felt no change. My mood swings range from extremely depressed to only very depressed.
2010625 tn?1329375656 Is it common to have a bad reaction or get bad side effects at the lowest doses of almost every psychotropic medication tried? I have tried 6 different antipsychotics, I had bad side effects at the lowest dose, and can't take them. 4 SSRI antidepressants, bad side effects at lowest dose, can't take them. I also can't take Welbutrin, Depokote, Effexor, vistaril, This can't be normal right?
1039200 tn?1314915608 After a rotten winter full of depression I was so relieved to have a spring hypomania which I have largely managed to control myself I now have to admit it is starting to get a bit much. My last question described a collapse after a week of non stop activities /driving hundreds of miles on a handful of hours sleep where what I diddnt say was that I did many outrageous things.
Avatar n tn As for your medication Lexapro is an SSRI used to treat major depression and generalized anxiety disorder. Trazadone is a tricyclic, which is older medication used to treat major depression. Different medications work differently foor different individuals and produce different side effects. If cost is an issue, I would discuss that issue with your doctor who can provide you with valuable advice about alternatives. A pharmacist is also a good resource.
Avatar m tn Hello. I haven't posted in some time, but I have talked about depression medicine and alcohol problems on this website before. As it stands right now, I am still struggling with my drinking, and still struggling with depression, anxiety, and also problems sleeping. I have had zoloft and subsequently paxil both prescribed to me in only 2 separate doctor visits, and after a very bad reaction to zoloft, I was too afraid to even try the paxil.
Avatar f tn I have suffered from depression for most of my life. I have gone through various medications and cocktails throughout the 80s and 90s as well as psychotherapy. I was scheduled for ECT when effexor came on the market and it made quite a difference for years. I started taking it in May of 1996 and have continued taking the maximum dose as well as trazodone for sleep. Now I am in a downhill spiral and do not really know what to do.
786881 tn?1236560228 I'm noticing more pain in my knees again, and this is the first time that I can say that I might being experiencing depression as well, though it's a very different type of depression than I was expecting. I am due to go back to my new Dr and do labs with her and a pap exam in a month and a half. I should probably go ahead and go back earlier for the blood work since from the sound of it, this really is the depression people speak about being associated with Hashimoto's.
