Common Questions and Answers about Depression medication stopped working

depression

Avatar m tn The first couple weeks my wife and I both noticed a big improvement with my symptom of ADD. Than all of a sudden it stopped working. I told my doctor, he changed it to Bupropion 300mg XL. Its been a week and a half since its been changed and no improvement. What happened to make it quit working? Will it start if I give it some more time?
Avatar n tn dear dr., i'm 37 yr women with hashimoto. 2 years ago i had severe breakdown with depression and anxiety. i had been taking zoloft for 9 years for a depression in 95'.the zoloft worked great until this. i startd major hypo symptoms after partial hyster. in 2001. of course it took going through 13 docs to find out was wrong with me even though i had all hypo symptoms.this past april i started comounded t3 and it helped me function again.
Avatar n tn I am on it for bipolar depression, and it is working very well for me. I am not psychotic, nor does my psychiatrist think I am.
Avatar n tn I thought I had gotten really lucky with trying this medication first, as I have never taken any medication like this before, other than the one Lexapro pill I took 2/29/08-then did some research and realized I wanted to fill my Bupropion prescription the next day. Well, Target Pharmacy only had 14 pills from Teva at the time so I took those home, and went back a few days later to pick up the rest of the pills, also from Teva according to the label.
Avatar f tn working out, meditaion, breathing excersizes etc. Ive done it before and i know i can do it again. Well the day after i stopped it i started my mentral and have been a little extra moody and emotional and i dont know if its a side effect of getting off lexapro or just my woman issue??? I assumed taking only 5mg of lexapro wouldnt be that difficult getting off of, am i wrong?
Avatar f tn i started lexapro two weeks ago on 10mg and I felt great!! i felt the best I have ever felt after the initial anxiety side effects. i upped my dosage to 20mg two days ago and it just stopped working?? I'm back where I was before; irritable, depressed, down in the dumps. i don't know what to do. i was the happiest I had ever been and now im back. I'm terrified and frustrated and panicking!!! I was finally happy and free and able and it's gone. What do I do?

1842569 tn?1320917441 THE HAVE STOPPED THANKS TO MEDICATION :D
Avatar n tn It worked for like 6 months, then it stopped working. So I went back to the doctor, and he told me I have bad allergies, and its nasal drainage, and he gave me allegra, nasacourt, and some more aciphex. That didnt work so I go back 3 weeks later, and he gives me Zyrtec, and leaves me on the nasacort, and aciphex. Then I kept throwing up, and I went 7 days without eating something without throwing it up.
Avatar m tn I have been on 40mg of celexa for the past 3 to 4 years. The doctor prescribed it to me because I was going through a depression and decided that I wanted to take this medication. I haven't seen this doctor nor am I able to since I am out of college, where I saw my doctor. 3 weeks ago I stopped taking it cold because I ran out. I didn't think anything of it since I was feeling fine. The past 3 days I have been feeling bad.
Avatar f tn I am concerned. I have a family member that stopped taking their antidepressant medications. He feels that he is okay without them, and that he can manage with some OTC herbs. He is not doing well with the herbs. He is clearly having issues at work, and is very stressed. Any suggestions on resources for him on how to cope or me on how to guide him to help? He hates the meds for how they feel, but he is clearly worse off them.
Avatar f tn when I stopped i went into the worst bout of depression ever imaginable to me - nightmarish. Went back on abilify to taper off for 1 month. When stopped suffered panic attack consecutive for 2 weeks, with sever sense of lonliness, and despair. I then saw a psychiatrist, who increased my zoloft dose to 100mg and changed brands. My heart stopped thudding two days ago, but still have sense of despair severe. no eating, severe diarrhea, can't get out of bed.
1709162 tn?1314084832 This continued for about 4 to 5 weeks at which time the medication had built up in my system to where it was working effectively. The jitteryness and increased anxiety went away. You need to give the medication a good 4 to 6 weeks to really see if it is working for you. You should see an improvement as you go along those 4 to 6 weeks.
Avatar n tn You have received good advice already, and take note that Effexor does have a stimulating effect, and most anxiety and depression is a mixture of both, so Zoloft or some other medication may be your answer...as for memory, it's hard to diagnose from this information because it could be from the heightened anxiety..did you try therapy along with medications..if not, you can try the self help therapy I have pioneered at www.myvirtualshrink.com.
Avatar m tn It's not time top stop going then. Therapy can't be rushed. It's also possible the therapist you chose isn't right for you. It's possible CBT isn't the right form of therapy for you -- it's the gold standard for anxiety, insofar as there is one and there really isn't, but depression can be a different can of worms.
Avatar m tn Decided that i wouldn't be able to handle full time work at the moment and started the process to put in an insurance claim. While i am scared of this, and it is affecting my anxiety levels, i know it will best for me. I took 200mg of Modafinil this morning instead of the 100mg normal dose.It really made me scattered all day. Felt very jittery and on edge. It was not pleasant at all, and did not help with the alertness or other cognitive issues.
222417 tn?1241564300 My opinion: The meds have not stopped working; rather, the meds are what are making you feel lousy! I cannot state this emphatically enough! I had been using SSRI's since 1994 along with "benzos". Prior to that I used Trazadone along with "benzos". I became so lethargic and fatigued that I was convinced that I had Chronic Fatigue (as was suggested by a neurologist who diagnosed me as having Fibromyalgia).
411641 tn?1215974641 i've read that carbamazapine won't cause weight gain but since i've been prescribed 400mgs a day i've put on a stone in weight in a year...i'm on a healthy diet, i walk to and from work, i go to the gym, mainly swimming.... i know i'm not over eating... i've even tried weight watchers... the weight is going up and up.... i'm going to ask my psychiatrist to change my meds to topamax....
Avatar n tn The injections have greatly helped me, (until they just stopped working as well after getting them for 2 years). Very unusual for them to stop working as well. The injections can work for up to 3 months or longer. It's well worth a try for you to ask about getting them. They were approved for migraines by the FDA in October 2010.
