Common Questions and Answers about Depression medication mer

Avatar n tn If I have even a single glass of wine or beer, at some point the next day I will probably experience a short 'burst' or 'wave' of a very intense, debilitating depression. During that depression, I can't move or speak. If I'm doing something in public, like walking in a store, I'll probably slow down and stare at the same box of cereal on a shelf for a minute. But in about 30 seconds to a minute, it's over, and it's like it never happened- I feel back to normal, I resume walking, whatever.
Avatar n tn I was prescribed 37.5 mg of Effexor to replace the Paxil. 9 months ago when the depression started, I was only taking Paxil. I was upto 40mg a day and I didn't feel that it was working as much as it should, plus many many side effects (mainly sexual and weight gain). Thats when I weaned myself off Paxil and had no problem (I took it very slow, slower than my doctor suggested) until I hit 5mg. When I stopped the Paxil for a few days, I was in hell.

Avatar n tn As a result, I daily take replacement medication to replace what the body would normally (i.e. adrenal glands, thyroid, and hormones). After 3 years or so, I was prescribed Effexor 75 mg for depression that had set in. I never experienced any additional weight gain on the medication. In approximately 2001, everything seemed to level out and even though I was still taking approximately 150 mg of effexor, I had even manage to lose some weight and get into good shape.
Avatar f tn I realize that this could also just be middle age slump, gallbladder, or depression, or anything else. My thyroid still falls in the normal range level, although at the low (hypo) end of what is considered normal. My Dr. gave me an opportunity to try the Synthroid low-dose. I did try it, but I didn't like the way it made me feel either. It made my heart feel racing, I was nervous as all get out, like jitters. And yet, I didn't get a whole lot more energy out of it.
Avatar m tn PS, I am 32, things started getting really bad about two years ago.
Avatar m tn First off, what are you taking all this medication for? It seems like alot of stuff, you will definitely need a taper program with all these meds, and you will want some time alone when you get completely off. Im just telling you what ive experienced, like i say, its just my opinion but I didnt take that much and I didnt want to be around anyone. The thomas recipe helps tremendously but you will have some bad days, like lulu said at least 3-5 for sure.
151263 tn?1243377877 My weight ran amuk after 35 and I atribute that to the chronic fatigue and subsequent depression / giving up activity ...wonder why most loose weight with HCV and I gained. Beer...I love beer with my tacos and pizza. I gave it up when I learned of my HCV status. (, tacos and pizza were never a staple of my diet...
1797925 tn?1341099804 My thinking seems to be clearer, the depression has lifted and my spirit is soaring. Before starting treatment I was constantly and utterly fatigued, bloated, nauseated, and just generally miserable. My family and friends cannot believe the difference in the way I now look and feel in such a short time and neither can I. I have 18 more days of treatment (2 pills each day at 2:30pm), and if I remain UND until November 14th, I will be considered officially cured.
