Common Questions and Answers about Depression medication generic

1134609 tn?1269275800 ----I stabilized completely last summer and I was on the brand name version of the medication. When I switched over to the generic, I started having problems and had to increased the dose from 900mgs to 1600mgs over the space of a few months. Any changes in the dosages over this time dropped me into a deep depression and I HAD to drop the dosage many times because it was agitating me. I just assumed it was because I was adjusting to the medication.
Avatar m tn Duloxetine is the generic for is used for anxiety and is also used for nerve pain in patients with arthritis and fibromyalgia ,etc....hope this helps you out some....

12182312 tn?1427687556 I really, really do not want to take steroids if I don't have to. Anyone with neuro lyme on a non-steroid medication, and if so what is the name and does it help. Thank you very much...
Avatar f tn I'm planning on going back onto medication for depression and anxiety as it's got much worse since being pregnant. I think after your first trimester any defects people claim pills can cause are massively decreased because your baby is developed much more. Just go through all options with your doctor first and any cons of pills you may take. Ask to see a counsellor as well as that may help as well.
Avatar f tn Hi, I had on medication for prozac and had stopped for 2 months. Now my psychiatrist thinks that I need it back but then due to financial problems I won't can afford it. I had reacted badly when I was due to see counselor last 2 weeks ago and earlier on I had taken the prozac for more than half a year. Do I really need the medicine?
Avatar f tn I have had depression for 20 years, and know I must stay on medication for the rest of my life. I am 69 so not so bad, for a younger person it must be a worry. Obviously you have to stay on an anti-depressant until you feel you are well enough to stop. I have stopped 3 times, but for me, the depression always comes back. You have to decide what is best for you. It is known that depression does often return. Try stopping, if you feel you want to, and see how you go. Only you can decide.

Avatar n tn I suffered from disabling depression and severe panic attacks for 20 years. In 1990, I started Prozac and the panic/depression disappeared. At last I was able to work, drive, etc. In other words, I got my life back. This past April, my prescription plan stopped covering brand name Prozac, so I was forced to switch to the generic. About a month later, I noticed I was feeling much more anxious and depressed. Now I am having what feels like the beginning of panic attacks again.
Avatar n tn She said I will know if the depression has returned, and if I feel I need to go back on anti depressants. As withdrawals can feel same as depression, we have to give it time after we stop. Withdrawal symptoms will come on pretty quickly after we stop, depression rather slower. We will know ourselves what is happening, as you and I did. Your suggestion to wonder502 is a good one.
Avatar n tn I recently[around 2 to 3 weeks] ago I started Generic Paxil. As per usual, it took awhile to for it to work, but yesterday I noticed an extreme change in my mood. A very positive one. I want to know if this is what I'm going to expect while on this medication, or if it'll eventually settle down and even out.
Avatar f tn I've had depression most of my life, but anti-depressants always helped. I'm Fe, 68, and few months ago I spent 6 days in hospital. No help. Cannot afford a phychiatrist, but my Dr. has been trying to help I take450 mg of Effexor in a day and 450mg of generic wellbutrin in a day. My Dr said the wellbutrin would help me to want to do things I used to love to do. Said it would release more (dopamine) in brain. I'm not as depressed as I was because the effexor is probably working..
1110049 tn?1409405744 If you don't react to a generic the way you did to a brand medication discuss this with your doctor or psychiatrist so they can document the concern so that you can receive coverage for the brand as generics are generally covered first within a health care provider's formulary. You can go to the website of your health care provider for more information as well.
Avatar n tn So I was experiencing depression and anxiety so I went to see a psychiatrist. She prescribed me Wellbutrin and Vistaril....I was experiencing more severe anxiety after 4-5 days. I have decided to stop taking the pills. I don't think I can handle the idea of taking medication to help with mental issues. I think therapy is better for me. So i haven't taken my pill this morning and have been feeling major anxiety and hopelessness about my future.
Avatar m tn I feel hopeless sometimes. I never had severe depression until now. Never before the medication either. The anxiety is so intense, I wonder how much longer my heart can hold out. I have to keep catching my breath. And although I have called numerous doctors and made a point of how serious this is, it seems that I can't get to see a doc right away. I can't take another day of this, it is awful. I'm temped to take the least of the two evils and start upping my dosage again.

Avatar n tn What brand and/or generic were/are you taking. Generic levothyroxine contains the same active ingredient as brand-name Synthroid and Levoxyl.. thyroid man is correct, for some it might take some time to adjust to the medication, especially at the beginning of treatment....However: Some people will have reactions against the binders, fillers, dyes, etc., in the brand of pills. Even each dose with its color will differ in ingredients. Some contain sugar and/or lactose.
Avatar n tn To save money, doctor switched to generic venlafaxine and not an extended release either, and i plummeted. So I am going back to effexorXR. Beware of generics, the drug companies are pretty much on a honor system, and the generics often don't work as well as name brand. I'm still learning about medications, and reading up on them online, like that has a drug section, is helpful. Hope you find the right medication soon.
Avatar f tn Ml is usually liquid if I remember right Baclofen is for spasms and if your pain persists, you might gently suggest neurontin or its generic version which is for pain. Many of us take them together and they synergize nicely. I agree, I wanna your gp!!! Baclofen and neurontin both take some getting used to for most people. Any doctor can prescribe one or both drugs. Are you going to be seeing a neuro later on?
Avatar n tn As for your medication Lexapro is an SSRI used to treat major depression and generalized anxiety disorder. Trazadone is a tricyclic, which is older medication used to treat major depression. Different medications work differently foor different individuals and produce different side effects. If cost is an issue, I would discuss that issue with your doctor who can provide you with valuable advice about alternatives. A pharmacist is also a good resource.
Avatar f tn At my regular check up my dr found st depression. he wants me to have a stress test I am female, 49, not overweight, no diabetes, take toprol 25 for high blood pressure which manages it. Haven't had a cigarette for 15 years do'nt drink ( a glass or two of wine a week). Eat healthy. I panic at doctors and my heart rate during the test was 93 as opposed to my normal 60. I'm very stressed and don't want to go down the rabbit hole of testing if not necessary.
Avatar n tn We are currently working on a new medication for depression, if you are intrested you can contact me @ ***@****

4753943 tn?1359938169 Alcohol is a depressant and if your already depressed than you will feel worse. Some people really do suffer from depression but are medication resistant. Meaning meds just don't work for them and they have to find other avenues. Exercising, walking, yoga, meditation etc. having bloodwork done to see if you are deficient in areas that effect your mood as well as checking your Thyroid. Getting enough sleep is really important as this effects our moods also.
Avatar m tn I have ptsd, anxiety, ocd, and suffer from depression more latley. I have never taken medication but sometimes i think its time to give it a try......just remember if one med doesnt work well try a differnt one under doctor care.
