1134609 tn?1269272200 ----I stabilized completely last summer and I was on the brand name version of the medication. When I switched over to the generic, I started having problems and had to increased the dose from 900mgs to 1600mgs over the space of a few months. Any changes in the dosages over this time dropped me into a deep depression and I HAD to drop the dosage many times because it was agitating me. I just assumed it was because I was adjusting to the medication.
Avatar f tn Hi, I had on medication for prozac and had stopped for 2 months. Now my psychiatrist thinks that I need it back but then due to financial problems I won't can afford it. I had reacted badly when I was due to see counselor last 2 weeks ago and earlier on I had taken the prozac for more than half a year. Do I really need the medicine?
1773104 tn?1314155711 Does anyone else have experience with Paxil (or generics) or Zoloft (or generics) or other like drugs? I was on a Paxil generic, Peroxatine after a very bad attack. The drug really messed with me bad and I almost lost my jobs because of how my body reacted to it. I have been switched to Zoloft generic and now I'm dizzy and feel like I'm on the edge of an attack leading to fainting. Is there anything, none drug, that can help with anxiety?
Avatar f tn I have had depression for 20 years, and know I must stay on medication for the rest of my life. I am 69 so not so bad, for a younger person it must be a worry. Obviously you have to stay on an anti-depressant until you feel you are well enough to stop. I have stopped 3 times, but for me, the depression always comes back. You have to decide what is best for you. It is known that depression does often return. Try stopping, if you feel you want to, and see how you go. Only you can decide.
Avatar f tn (1) Lexapro went generic and I started the generic and, (2) my patch was increased from 12 to 25. I can't think clearly I'm instantly angry. I have a very short fuse. I cry over everything and nothing. I've looked at the drug interactions and it seems they ALL have them (with each other). I cannot survive this depression but cannot survive the pain either. I am working with my whole medical entourage but wanted to see if anyone else is in a similar boat and has advice.
Avatar n tn which brand of generic Effexor XR is chemically closest to the brand name Drug, the drug compound & the capsule
Avatar n tn About 1 year ago, I had a physical done and my blood work was perfect. I have been taking the generic for Zoloft, Sertraline, for about 8 months now. I did another physical 3 wks ago, and it showed my TSH levels off and my Cholesterol as 276 with high LDL cholesterol also. My HDL level was high, which is great. I exercise and eat very healthy.
Avatar m tn I am still struggling with the loss of my wife of many years, and old age adds to the mental struggle with I think is depression. There is not family history of trouble, I think mine is not genetic. I tried Trazadone prescription for a year, I think it disturbs my sleep pattern. Just home from my primary care doctor and he gave me a prescription for Generic Zoloft. I will give that a try.
Avatar f tn I'm planning on going back onto medication for depression and anxiety as it's got much worse since being pregnant. I think after your first trimester any defects people claim pills can cause are massively decreased because your baby is developed much more. Just go through all options with your doctor first and any cons of pills you may take. Ask to see a counsellor as well as that may help as well.
Avatar n tn My husband das been diagnosed with depression and anxiety had been taking Effexor XR 75mgs or about 1 year however the side effects ie weight gain tiredness and loss of libido was troubling him. The switched to cymbaltor, due to high costs (even with insurance) of this medication is wanting to switch to somethig that is less expensive and that has a generic available. What about Wellbutrin or do you have any other suggeations?
Avatar f tn I started 75 mg of generic wellbutrin 2 days ago and was wondering if anyone could tell me about there experience with this i suffer from anxiety and depression. I am having really bad anxiety and i dont know if it is from the medication or me worrying about taking it. How long does it take take effect? anything anyone could tell me would be great.
Avatar m tn Drear kcfp, I am diagnosed with Severe Chronic Depression and have had it for many years. I take 3 anti-depressants - I have taken over all the anti-depressants available. The work for a while, then they do not. One of my anti-depressants is a "mind food" not medication.
Avatar n tn Generic is not for everyone. The medication is the same but the base that a generic is put in is not. Levothyroxin had a very adverse affect on me. Tired, dizzy, and then only by what I can call them, brain flashes. I could see lights without having lights on. I knew something was wrong. When I asked, the pharmacy had chosen (Walgreens) to make a change to generic WITHOUT my consent because they thought it would be cheaper.
Avatar n tn I was taking a Wellbutrin SR 150mg generic (manufactured by Teva) twice a day for approximately 9 months with good results for anxiety/depression. Then I changed from a local drugstore chain to a mail order prescription service to save money. The mail order service sent me a generic that is maufactured by Sandoz(I went from a yellow pill to a purple one).
Avatar n tn Since last winter of 2006 I have felt the depression feelings coming slowly back(the depression is worse or starts in the winter). I have recently for the last few months went into the worst depression since highschool.
Avatar f tn Had been feeling terrible when I was switched by my mail order to Synthroid instead of Levothyroxine. Dr. also said I was hypo. Recent test results TSH - 7.93 - Thyroxine Free 0.80. Can some people tolerate Levo better than Synthroid. Don't know if my symptoms of nausea, bloating, depression, hot spells are due to Synthroid or hypo. Thank you so much.
Avatar m tn Ive been dealing with depression for over 20 years. I am currently on medication and it helps (at times), but I can also get pretty down at times still. I know I need to probably be in therapy to help me, but I simply can't afford it. Anyone got any ideas or suggestions?
Avatar m tn ve had some experiences where a generic was less effective than a brand medication but but many people react the same way to both as they are basically the same as the brand medication but concerns can occur. If you have had a better reaction to the brand version of a medication than a generic it would be essential to let your psychiatrist know that. If you have always been on the generic it most likely is the medication itself but you could discuss this with your psychiatrist.
Avatar f tn Chemically, it should not make any difference between generic and brand name, as chemically they are the exact same medication. BUT, some people notice a difference. The reason for this COULD be due to different delivery methods or coatings on the medications (like one is a fast release medication and one is not, or something like that). But, if the medication is exactly the same in formula and delivery method, then the medication should act exactly the same.
Avatar f tn Depression does not have a cure, it takes treatment, which is often the medication and therapy. If you do have depression, taking the pills for a while does not make it go away. Its something that (if it works for you), you have to take every day. This is where a lot of people (including myself) mess up. Because they start to feel better so they quit taking their meds. It doesn't work that way unfortunately. I would talk to a psychiatrist in your new town and get their opinion.
Avatar n tn As for your medication Lexapro is an SSRI used to treat major depression and generalized anxiety disorder. Trazadone is a tricyclic, which is older medication used to treat major depression. Different medications work differently foor different individuals and produce different side effects. If cost is an issue, I would discuss that issue with your doctor who can provide you with valuable advice about alternatives. A pharmacist is also a good resource.
Avatar n tn I recently[around 2 to 3 weeks] ago I started Generic Paxil. As per usual, it took awhile to for it to work, but yesterday I noticed an extreme change in my mood. A very positive one. I want to know if this is what I'm going to expect while on this medication, or if it'll eventually settle down and even out.
Avatar m tn I feel hopeless sometimes. I never had severe depression until now. Never before the medication either. The anxiety is so intense, I wonder how much longer my heart can hold out. I have to keep catching my breath. And although I have called numerous doctors and made a point of how serious this is, it seems that I can't get to see a doc right away. I can't take another day of this, it is awful. I'm temped to take the least of the two evils and start upping my dosage again.
Avatar m tn The bad thing with depression and insomnia, is the meds to help you sleep can make depression worse and increase the risk of suicide.
Avatar n tn I went off Effexor 6 months ago and my doctor put me on 150 mg of the Zoloft generic and also started me on Wellbutrin generic. I find that I get the same daily trends as far as anxiety and depression. I don't know if it's related to an aftermath of my drinking or if it can be from the meds. It's always depression in the AM, around 11:30 am I feel anxiety and around 2:30 it's the worst. Around 6pm I crash and it's depression but I feel more clearheaded.
1497650 tn?1289233125 You should really express to the person giving you these medications that they're not working for you. If a doctor is the person giving you these medications make it a point that you see a psychiatrist because your medication isn't helping to solve the problem because your anxiety still exists and they're making you feel like a zombie. How can you get to the root of things if you can't think about them? I'm experiencing the vicious cycle that is anxiety and depression.
