517902 tn?1314719029 I'm so sorry that things seem bleak and you are in so much pain...but I do encourage you to call a crisis center and get help. If not, please seek help through an ER or somewhere else. There are people who care and can assist you with your concerns. I check here every day. Please feel free to send me a private message to talk or vent. You aren't alone with your feelings...we have all had them at one time or another and do care.
3063937 tn?1352426455 We must not let this illness beat us. I have read many self help books, but they cannot beat depression. Only we can do that. I have been on many anti-depressants. No they do not cure, but they certainly make life worth living. Without them who knows where I would be now. I am old, but still fighting, and to tell the truth, I feel great at the moment. The depression hardly ever pokes its head up now. That is thanks to medication.
Avatar f tn Help for what? Depression, anxiety, substance abuse? There are lots of public health clinics that go off of income and if you have no income you pay nothing at all, and if its substance abuse treatment the same thing. You have to research it, but you will find a lot of low income gov funded clinics and even rehabs.
Avatar m tn Kind of like when a child gets sick, the child wants his/her mother near by to cater to them. Does anyone know if this is a symptom of depression or something else? Maybe anxiety? Is depression intermittent? Some days I feel totally normal and then sometimes for brief moments I will get that terrible feeling. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
Avatar f tn On the other hand we do not know your genotype but since you are treating with newer meds depression might not be as big of an issue. Still it would help to know your genotype since there are could be a few possibilities of the meds you might take. I went on an AD (anti depressant) prior to treatment since I was concerned about depression and in my case it helped tremendously. Plus, the support on here was phenomenal.
Avatar f tn I have suffered for 10 years with paresthesias, dysthesias, weakness, fatigue, memory loss and now blurred vision. I have been diagnosed with everything from Lyme disease (later UN diagnosed), RSD, "I don't know, take this pill" to depression. I had Parvo b19 in 1996 and one MD thought that explained my waxing and waning symptoms. I had an MRI and LP in 2003 and was told both were normal.
603509 tn?1220307910 I was one of those people who thought depression was for only the people you saw on TV that couldn't function throughout the day or even speak! That to me was completely loony. I have never knew of anyone with this issue. So I have lived the last 16 yrs. of my life with depression and didn't know what was wrong with me. I just knew that I wasn't like everyone else certain days or months. What happened to me was that early on I would have these feelings? - I don't know why?
Avatar f tn See if you can find help? Does your doctor's practice not have volunteers who help people like you? Here the chemists also deliver meds to housebound people. I think there must be some way you can get your meds too? Have you looked into this? Is there no one at all who can help???
Avatar n tn I heard about a drug called SaMe could help with depression, anyone have any expeience with this?

Avatar f tn you'v made the right step finding out as much about addiction is the best way to help or at least understand a addict which will be a help you both it will give you undersanding that your partner has a illness but it does'nt exeuse him from taking everything you have worked hard to get for you & your 5 kids. i have stole from my mum hated myself for it then done it again.
Avatar n tn I am not condoning his drinking at all. It's a terrible addiction, just like the drugs. I will say this though...kicking methadone is hard enough to do without trying to kick alcohol abuse at the same time. It's kinda like the people on here who try to kick benzos and opiates at the same time. It's just too hard to quit one, without taking on both beasts. If I were you, I'd help him kick the methadone and then get him into some aftercare program to help him kick the alcohol. By the way..
Avatar f tn extreme temp issues, weight fluctuations - always within 10 lbs, extreme fatigue, depression, migraines, etc. I have been on 125mcg Synthroid since age 2. After much begging, my internist changed me to Armour 90mg. I have been on the Armour about 3 months now and have my first appt with an endo 12/07 - Dr. Shari Fox. I am 5'6", 135 lbs currently. I eat right and have a trainer, so health is NOT my issue.
Avatar n tn My doctor had prescribed antidepressants (Prozac) to help with the depression and anxiety. The drug did help with the depression and gave me more energy, however, my anxiety levels seemed to increase - I often felt like I was jumping out of my skin!! I also started to experience breathlessness. I decided after a few months to stop taking the medication, however, after 5 days withdrawal I couldn't sleep and was suffering from palpitations, agitation, dizziness and problems concentrating.

Avatar f tn I am a single mom with fragile diabetic son and a 3 yr old. I have (b/4 the meds too) depression and anxiety. I started taking Effexor 2 months ago but stopped when it didn't seem to be helping. I then got all the amino acids, 5-htps, etc. to quit. My dr.(not the one who prescribes the vicodin) thinks I am still taking it. I wanted to do something more natural, the 5-htp. It seems like I won't be able to tell if an anti=depressant is working while I am still using the pain meds??

Avatar m tn This all started a year ago and to this day have gotten no help with my situation. My MRI results reads that L3 is a herniated disc, L4 is bulged disc, L5/S1 is a herniated disc and annular tear. I've heard mentioned of den disc dis from the Spine guy I saw, but he didn't give me details. I have NO insurance and now I'm back out of work because of the pain. This all started LAST DEC and I couldn't work for 3 months.
Avatar f tn HI there - sorry to hear about your Dad. These attacks must be so debilitating. I am sorry that I know little about pancreatitis as I have Crohn's. However, I did meet through the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America website, a young woman in San Francisco 4 years ago and we corresponded privately, at least weekly. She had been recently diagnosed then with Crohn's but unfortunately went on to get a malignant pancreatic tumour and sadly died this past Feb at 39 yrs old.
1242045 tn?1268326425 Pain is depressing enough having a doctor who says its in your head is depressing as well. DON'T LET THEM give you a depression pill for PAIN, Pain is real and it hurts and is a main cause of people trying to diagnose and treat themselves. I can't blame them when IT HURTS LIKE HELL and no doctor is listening.

He now has mental, coognitive, emotional and behavioral issues typical of post TBI. 10 years have passed with us going around and around in US medical and legal system without any help. He has come long way from where he was immediately after the accident.
