1468734 tn?1316535897 Thats why I was wondering if any one knew of any support group meetings in my area that area like AA or NA only for depression. The only groups I found so far meet only twice a month. I need way more. Would any one know of such a meeting or organization in the Flint, Genesee county Michigan area that might fit the bill? Any how, my prayers are with you all for I know how you feel. Been to the bottom many times. Black, all consuming and empty. Bless each and every one.
Avatar m tn Are there any support groups that meet for Chiari survivors, sufferers in Knoxville, TN. My daughter had decompression surgery a year and a half ago. Since then she has been suffering from headaches and mind seizures as well as fear, depression and anxiety. She has had to quit her job and we are probably going to have to file for disability for her. I think a support group would help her feel not so all alone.
Avatar f tn Hi I've been suffering from depression my while life nand I want to get help but iw to expensive.does any one know where can I get help at low cost.

672839 tn?1305792947 To me, there are two types of groups, 1) Support and 2) Self Help. Support Groups are places to go and feel safe. Lead by others with medical conditions like ours, opinions are shared by all, and comfort is widely given while tears flow. The discussions are personal and individualized making this the place to be when your chin is on the ground. Self-Help groups relieve a different pain. In this setting professionals teach you the steps necessary to better yourself and your position.
Avatar f tn Either can help. I had a rough patch but I was lucky. I exercised my way through it.
Avatar m tn Lastly, and most importantly, while online groups can certainly help us in some ways, and even give us a sense of support, it should NEVER be your only source of help or support and should NEVER be used in place of real, in person support or help. There's no substitution for that in person connection you will have with other people, the eye contact, physical touch, etc.
Avatar f tn Yep and thats why there is these groups there are alsi ither groups out there that you can join the important thing is that dispite the feeling of being alone and not wanting to do anything... we need ti push ourselves out the door to do something every day. It helps when you have a frirnd that lives near by. One if my best friends was my neighbor 5years ago. I was pregnant with my daughter and she would call me over every day and would not take no ad an answer. She has moved 1.
1668478 tn?1303433602 I am not knocking pandamans advice, and with certain people, medication can help. However, I would strongly urge you to first try the support groups, therapist, and school councerlor before asking for medications. Very often, issues such as depression can be controlled without medications. The problem with medications is if you don't need them and therapy/group support can help the problem, is you become dependent on them.
9023883 tn?1402943375 Has anyone had PPD with prenatal depression? Its so bad that if I wasn't pregnant I'd probably not be here...if you get what I mean. I have a 6 month old and have had thoughts of giving both babies to dh and just going. Avatar m tn He needs to see a doctor asap!! Anytime someone theatens sucide you take it seriously!! Even if you think they don't mean it and just saying that to get attention, you still should TAKE IT SERIOUSLY!!! You never know what they are truly attending to do. He can seriously mean what he says and hopes by saying it out loud someone will help him. He needs help. He maybe depressed, bipolar or have social anxiety... or who knows what else, a doctor can properly diagnoise him.

874521 tn?1424116797 There is a link to User Groups on the Forums page. Just click Forums in the top nav and the link to a list of User Groups is on the right side.
Avatar f tn I think I read somewhere that you are more likely to get it again if you had it the first time around. Just amke sure you have some sort of support system in place to help you deal with it should it arise again. Don't be afraid to get temporary relief from an antidepressant. That would not be my first choice, but sometimes we have exausted all other avenues and it would be beneficial to use medicine.
Avatar f tn I am 35 weeks and 5 days pregnant, here lately I have been dealing with a bad bout of depression! And I just don't know what to do!!! I am married, but I just feel so alone all the time!! 647391 tn?1275016633 If you have a mental health agency where you live-they may have support groups for people with depression and/or bipolar; other mental health issues. Doctors sometimes have educational classes for diabetics. Health departments have parenting classes. On & on. Sorry to go on so long. This is to show you that going in and just 'babbling' is OK if that's what you need. Often-as I LISTEN to MYSELF talk-I end up with these 'Ah-HA!
Avatar f tn Your local hospital should offer support groups. Just going to talk to women that are pregnant and possibly experiencing depression will help you not feel alone. I wish you the best.

Avatar n tn You can look up and see if there are depression support groups in your area. Usually, they meet up once or twice a week. They have support groups for people who support us also, like your husband. I've been the person going through it and also the support person, and, as you know, support is great for everyone. A good support group is the Depression Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) which is found nationwide.
12693075 tn?1442246392 Im a clinical therapist and what you guys are talking about is common and you can find some relief and help. I have some clients who attend groups for expecting moms (they offer childcare too) and they are helpful. Also there are a lot of techniques that the right therapist can help you learn to lower your heartrate and alleviate anxiety. These can help with or in place of meds... depending on your needs. Are any of you in Seattle?
