Common Questions and Answers about Depression help edmonton

Avatar f tn Speaking with someone can help you find strategies to manage depression (aka talk therapy), many folks take meds, ie if they are dealing with long term stress like a dying family member. Some folks have chronic depression and require meds. Think of it like any other brain issue medically, some folks need anti-seizure meds to stop having seizures. We take anti-depressants to not only cope but learn to enjoy life again. You are St. Albert right?
382218 tn?1341185087 The study examined patients taking one of the three interferons or Copaxone, and found no significant differences in rates of treatment for depression. In fact, the % of pts being treated for depression were marginally higher (but insignificant) for those taking Copaxone (41.1%) compared to those taking Avonex (39%) or Rebif, high dose (39.4%). Those on Betaseron had the highest rate of treatment for depression, but the difference was nominal (43.1%).
453846 tn?1205858497 Welcome to our Forum and I hope that we will be able to help! I am from Edmonton so we are not too far away from each other! I have found this information regarding tremors but I think this is something that you should bring to your specialists attention! Even if you don't fit into any of the following categories, what you describe as a tremor may actually be something else! Postural tremors. A person who has a postural tremor will shake while sitting or standing, but not while lying down.
1553907 tn?1367613186 I am having to take 40mg Lasix daily for the water retention, and it doesn't help, my urine output is very poor. I am frustrated, and worried, because my symptoms are that of Hodgkin's almost to a "t". Do you have any suggestions? I'm 37, have had 3 kids, a complete hysterectomy 12yrs ago, and have Fibromyalgia.
Avatar n tn Since he needs help, I am the only one he trusts and the only one in the position to do so, so I must help him... Can anyone please help me help him? I can't afford to buy books or sign up online and pay $ to talk to someone, I just need advice from people who have experience with this... 1) How do I escape getting sucked into his irrationality when he is depressed? It usually starts off with him being irritated, not by me, but by other situations that spark him off (usually his family)..
1497552 tn?1288972957 I have a friend of my moms who has been diagnosed with a few autoimmune disorders and could not get answers in canada so she went to the states, so she will be setting up a fundraiser to help pay for me to go into the states and get help if i need too.
335728 tn?1331418012 I really do get confused about the difficulties you Canadians encounter in getting help and then even more trouble getting competent medical help. Where do your doctors come from? You have a 24/7 support group here that will do therapy with you whenever you need it. We even will give you a kick in the keister if you need it! Hopefully the white Russians went down smoothly and will help you get some rest tonight.

Avatar m tn Can't help but think I will never get better or this is something else in my body going on? My lumbar MRI just showed mild degenerative disc disease - nothing to give me these burning sensations in both of my legs.
Avatar n tn There seems to be something twitching on my at any given time. The earliest I could get an appointment is March 21st, so please help me. I'm not expecting a full diagnosis, but I am getting worried. A new symptom seems to emerge every few weeks. If you have anything to suggest, please do. Thank you.
Avatar f tn I was just wondering if you know of any exercises that someone with fibro as well as many other conditions could do to help lose weight and to get into shape. I am already doing physio for my arms and back but it doesn't seem to be enough to push my body into gear. I know I don't want to over stress my body but there has to be something I can do. I changed my diet long ago for medical reasons so it probably could use a little bit of tweeking but over all, it's pretty good.
Avatar f tn I'm from Edmonton Alberta and I was able to find out from the tech???
Avatar n tn Mary, You may want to ask your doc about CVS -cyclical vomiting syndrome or gastroparesis. Another test that may help shed some light on things is a gastric empty scan. The constipation may cause upper abdominal symptoms so getting that under control may help things? Good Luck to you and your son, I hope you find answers soon. Jeannine PS-have you gone for a second opinion, maby try a teaching/university hospital in your area.

Avatar m tn EDMONTON — A virus best known for the damage it does to the liver can also damage brain cells, University of Alberta researchers report in a new study. The research into the impact of hepatitis C on the brain is significant, they say, because it marks the first time scientists have been able to show that the virus can infect the brain.
Avatar n tn This has been an ongoing problem usually I have the severe itching for a few months then it will go away and out of the blue will appear again. I haven't changed laundry detergant, soap, lotion, etc. Please any help or insight you could give would be greatly appreciated! 1124887 tn?1313758491 to 3 different Cardiologists who all in the end thought I was half crazy, too nothing in this world that they could do to help! Well I can't just lay here, symptomatic like you would never beleive, and just let these things rule my life! So i was finally given a shot at one of the best EP's (from what people have said) in my city (Edmonton, Canada)...and was given not 1, but 2 ablations, which both were failures (and mixed complications after also..).
1323278 tn?1298126088 the temperatures are more even but are much warmer. Although if you live on the coast where coastal breezes help to cool things down, that would help. I've often thought that the San Fran area would be great as the temperatures are fairly regular, not too hot or cold and not too wet.
324911 tn?1276284982 I am thinking Jamie you probably have it in Edmonton....I got thee best nursing pillow there yesterday! 147426 tn?1317269232 During the next year I was dieting and lost 50 pounds slowly, but developed intermittent urinary incontinence. (losing weight is supposed to help that!) I also became much more fatigued than I was before, but wrote that off to being so deconditioned by spending all day in my recliner. Also, after years of living in the desert, became severely sensitive to even mild heat in my apartment. It made me weak and irrationally irritable. I was trying to get in short daily walks.
188500 tn?1207368551 The drugs used to treat hepatitis C are very expensive and they can cause severe fatigue, fever, depression, and other hard-to-tolerate side effects. But he says a better strategy than shortening treatment is lowering drug dosage in patients who have trouble tolerating hepatitis C treatments. He adds that rapid response to treatment has become as important as viral genotype for predicting response to treatment.

286034 tn?1201100440 ), OK, just an average good looking guy.. sorry can't help it. I'm in pretty good physical shape, 6' tall and 185 lbs. I was born in Maine (USA) and spent my first 18 years there. OK, but a bit cold for me, I don't like anything below 75F. I joined the US Air Force at 18 and traveled a small part of the world. I spent 6 years in the Philippines and another 6 years in Central America (Panama). I was in for 20 years and then retired. The other 8 years I spent bouncing around the US.
