5864500 tn?1380893197 If you have truly tried a lot of different meds and therapy and just haven't seen any improvement, you may have a tougher case of depression (called treatment resistant depression). Your doc could shed light on that for you, if he/she feels that may be the problem. If that is the case, and you're doing as much as you can to address it, trying different meds and working hard yourself, then it may be time to discuss treatment options like ECT or electroconvulsive therapy.
Avatar m tn Hello, From your symptoms two possibilities are coming to my mind. They are of lichen planus or cicinate balanitis. Lichen planus is an inflammatory disease that affects the skin and the oral mucosa, and presents itself in the form of papules (flat spots) or rashes. Treatment is available only on prescription and consists mainly of steroids, retinoids, hydroquinone and phototherapy. My sincere advice would e to consult a dermatologist and get it evaluated.
Avatar n tn it may be important to consider a psychotherapist in conjunction with the meds to hopefully get to the emotional root causes of her depression.
Avatar n tn I had to stop treatment because of depression. I still battle with depression almost on a daily basis. I never had trouble with depression before. I think the meds somehow changed my body. I deal with the depression by saying to myself everything is fine, be happy. I'm gettin sick of bucking myself up. I don't tell my wife about this problem because it gets old quick. Is there anyone out there who feels like this!
Avatar f tn But the vast majority, even those with the most severe depression, can get better with treatment. Intensive research into the illness has resulted in the development of medications, psychotherapies, and other methods to treat people with this disabling disorder. Avatar f tn these meds can make a huge difference in peoples lives and for many will help them get through treatment since the tx drugs can cause depression.
Avatar m tn What you have is an ordinary mental disorder, I think it's called paranoia, which some people do get that, rather a lot of folks suffer with it. It causes them to think someone is "out to get them." It is a very good sign that you have noticed this about yourself, and so you have an excellent chance of getting through it with professional help. It is a very treatable condition and you do not need to suffer another second with it if you don't want to.
Avatar m tn I know someone whose mental health care, along with hypothyroidism (which also causes depression and other mental health type issues), is handled by the state and the person does not do well at all...
Avatar n tn Often the medication takes a long time to kick in and that is what causes the time delay in having the depression. So not sure why you are asking. Do you have problems and now need to see a specialist? Or do you think you need to see one? What are your levels of TSH etc, do you know?
Avatar f tn If you feel this is all becoming over-whelming for you, then see a psychiatrist and the two of you determine what route of treatment is best for you. Depression can make it hard for us to be motivated to do anything, or even think straight, and this may be your problem. See a psychiatrist and go from there. Good luck and take care.
Avatar f tn The conculsion is the key element in the treatment. Without that there is to treatment and no help for depression. I want to let people know that ECT treatments are not like they are depicted on movies. They are very relaxing before and after. The patient is not awake for the procedure. After the procedure was done, often times patients ask if they are next. The nurse will tell them that they have already had their treatment and they can just lay there and relax.
Avatar n tn Relieving those symptoms supposedly allos us to think more clearly, identify the problems causing depression and fix those problems which in turn fixes the depression. That's the theory. Some of us have long term treatment resistant depression and even though we know what started it etc just cannot change it and how we think and react to life. For such people, including myself, a negative event is devastating and causes relapses from being OK.
Avatar f tn It's not bad enough that it's depressing to have MS, but MS also causes depression because it affects the brain. I thought i would just deal with this and be fine but I ended up needing something. I am glad I did. I tried once to stop taking it and it didn't take any time before I was back feeling hopeless. I hope you can start to feel better about things even if you don't take an antidepressant. Everyone here is so helpful. They have picked me up when I didn't think I could get up.
Avatar f tn Felt real bad with fatigue, brainfog, moodiness, headaches, forgetfulness, depression, etc. You all now the post treatment side effects. And how desperately you're trying to move ahead in your life and get back on your feet and be able to do the things you once enjoyed. I say it lasted a well over two years for me. Last summer of 2006 I went through what it felt like a bad case of the flu. Body aches, headaches, very tired for about a month and half.
901137 tn?1267629789 I have treatment resistant moderate depression. (My doctor characterizes it as "moderate" as I am able to function on a daily basis. While saying this he acknowledges that it doesn't feel moderate to me) I tend to keep the hurt to myself. I was wondering if there are others who are experiencing the same situation.
354706 tn?1279474395 My mum’s OVCA treatment went so smooth that it is almost unbelievable. Just consider this – stage 4, abdominal filled with cancer spreading to liver, colon, diaphragm and spleen. As there is no hope of optimal debulking, the doctor tried chemo first. After 2 chemo, CA125 dropped from 165 to 15. CT scan revealed that most tumors were gone/shrunk. During operation after 3 chemo, very little signs of chemo and an optimal debulking.
Avatar f tn Hi,nice for me to hear that you haven't experinced depression, because I'm going to start my hep treatment tomorrow!! and I'm very very scary.I've been eroin user for years, years ago.I've been self medication with antideppressive for long time and all that let me some kind of swing mood,so I'm scare abaut the side effect of treatment.Never hear abaut people that developed skins prob ,way don't going to see a dermatologist?
Avatar n tn A little sympathetic magic might tilt the balance in your favor, prevent treatment depression and absolutely ensure a positive outcome.
154927 tn?1205246451 Also before treatment had never had depression, at least not at all severe. Im sure i had a delayed severe depression brought on by the Meds and made worse by the Doctors trying to treat the depression with multiple Anti`s. ( i think the Paxel was the one that caused the slide or fall into Mania) Im still afraid to retreat even though i long to rid myself of the Virus. Hopeing for something less toxic to our mental health then the interferon.
Avatar f tn It's time to choose, as it is for those who use other drugs and thus negate their treatment. Smoke or get serious about treatment. It's that simple. Don't kid yourself that you can lie to a decent doc either. They'll smell it on you, see the eyes, the fingers and your physical condition. I know smoking from time to time helps me, with concentration, motivation and pain relief. But I've been on this treadmill for decades mate.
1491755 tn?1333204962 I know that Depression can be a severe and debilitating problem. It is good that you have sought treatment. I had Depression prior to treatment, as do many with HCV. I was on ADs already prior to treatment and stayed on ADs during treatment and for about 4 months afterwards. I am off the ADs and doing fine. No Depression. So I am not someone who became depressed after treatment. But I did want to respond to your question/post.
955560 tn?1250198145 Don't be afraid to go the ER if you need to. You can receive treatment there until you have the chance to see your doctor. Sometimes these attacks pop up out of nowhere, and go away by themselves. Everybody feels anxious and panicky form time to time. If they persist, or you start to constant worry about them, you might have an anxiety disorder. Your doctor will be able to properly diagnose and treat you.
1297538 tn?1278549702 Hi Guys, Seems like I've been hit really hard with depression especially in the morning lately. This wednesday will be 2 weeks since I started my treatment and needless to say... it has be a roller-coaster for me. I have felt SO horrible and like I am literally loosing my mind. Before I was dx with Lyme one of the many doctors I saw prescribed me Zoloft for the Anxiety/Depression that I have been experiencing lately. Mind you I have NEVER had any of these problems in my life until I became ill.
Avatar n tn He has physical symptoms that we have been ruling out with the doctor for physical causes (his lack of belief that anxiety/depression is the cause). He has been on med's again for 5 weeks, but they are not doing their job. The psychiatrist has boosted & changed his med's to help speed up treatment, but so far not good. Bipolar disorder runs in his family & so does alzheimers disease. Could anxiety/depression cause these disorders to rear their ugly heads?
Avatar m tn I am 47 and had been battling the health anxiety since 20 years. I have hypertension, hyperlipidemia & mitral valve prolapse with trivial regurgitation (which causes anxiety & palpitation). All these years my focus was mainly on heart, but since one month i has become very cancer phobic, as i remember one of aunt who died of cancer before 15 years..
Avatar f tn Apart from shopping, do you enjoy other hobbies now ? Seizures and its treatment, per se, are not responsible to depression. But long term illness does lead to a reactive depression. In any case, you will have to take care of that. Any more medicines may not be very helpful, unless you have a sever degree of depression. You may take help of a counseling psychologist. What is more important is that you should not give up. Giving up doesn't help.
