Avatar f tn Actually, too much calcium from too much vitamin D can cause tinnitus and many other drugs can cause tinnitus and there is no real evidence for Vitamin D (low) causing hair loss or adding Vitamin D and gaining hair. However, hypothyroidism will cause hair loss and tinnitus. But you say your TSH is normal? So it may be due to some other drug you are taking or low iron or magnesium can cause hair loss. One in five people get tinnitus. So, it is hard to pinpoint the cause.

Avatar n tn ) and Wellbutrin for depression for about 15 months. At about age 30 I started experiencing vertigo periodically with nausea and vomiting lasting for 4 to 8 hours. That condition has improved over the last 8 yrs but I suffer from continuous tinnitus along with hearing my heartbeat in my right ear, loud enough to disturb sleep. I use white noise to get to sleep. I have only been diagnosed with depression and social anxiety for which Wellbutrin and prozac offer relief.
Avatar n tn I have been told by my neurologist that I cannot take an ssi, and the tinnitus was caused by zoloft. Clomapramine used to work well for me, but now elevates the ringing and I have to stay away from it for 6-8 months. I am supposed to stay within the benzodiazepine class, but am finding anxiety overwhelming. Is there something out there that I may consider now, or down the road. I am currently on 3 mg daily of lorazepam.
Avatar m tn The excess fluid disturbs the ear’s balance and hearing mechanisms and causes tinnitus, dizziness and deafness. It could be Labyrinthitis, which is a viral infection. Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), is another entity in which with movement of the head the person is likely to get dizziness. And as you are on hypertensives, this can cause postural hypotension and dizziness. So, a work up is focused on detecting the cause and therapy for the same.
Avatar n tn student in neuorpsychology and I take 75 mg of Zoloft and see a therapist once a week to deal with frightening thoughts of hurting children in my life and depression. Originaly, it was thought that the depression was secondary to the obsessions but now my obsessions are undercontrol (They are not in control of my life anymore) and I'm still depressed. I will go three days to a week of feeling alright and then I will be in a full depression again for another couple of days.

The latter most commonly occurs in women who are overweight or taking certain medications, but could occur in anyone. Diagnosis is suggested by the presence of papilledema, or swelling of the optic nerve in the eye, as assesed by an eye doctor or a neurologist, and is confirmed through lumbar puncture.
Avatar m tn At this point, I went to see a psychiatrist, thinking my troubles were psychological, as I have been diagnosed with depression and an eating disorder (anorexia with some bulimia) in the past, and I was prescribed Zoloft, a drug which had helped me in the past. On the second day of my Zoloft treatment, however, I became extremely dizzy and started having tremendous difficulty thinking (a state which has persisted and is very hard to deal with as I am a graduate student at the moment).

Avatar m tn I have been fighting bi-lateral tinnitus and the accompanying depression and anxeity for over 20 years. In 2000 I was experienceing discomfort in my chest and ended up having a cariac cath and stents. since than I have had no problem passing nuclear stress tests or physical tread mill tests. This year had a full blown heart attack and ended up with a 3 way bypass.
Avatar m tn I have Benign Fasciculation Syndrome (sporadic twitching) which might have been brought on by stress/anxiety. I also have Tinnitus which may/may not have been induced by anxiety (actually I think it came about from over-exposure to loud music). So could this head condition somehow be anxiety-related? I know that dizziness is often a symptom of anxiety but being that I don’t have that, I’m wondering whether my “drugged,” “drunk-like,” “woozy” feelings could still brought on by it.
280418 tn?1306329510 As soon as I hear ringing (tinnitus) and feel a headache, hot flashes and flushes soon ensue. Does anyone else have this issue? I'm 33 and just had my hormones tested. All normal except low cortisol. I don't understand. I messed up and posted on my journal that I was fairly symptom free the last few weeks. Curses! I didn't knock on wood. It never fails that my symptoms return and/or new symptoms crop up. Anyone feel my pain?
Avatar f tn Sources seem pretty split on whether Sertraline causes permanent hearing loss, and with the aggravated tinnitus in my bad ear, there's really no way for me to tell if my good one is affected or not until it's too late.

552012 tn?1272859591 I guess you could say I am too depressed to get a lawyer so I can get SSD for depression! My arthritis (back and neck, 4 places) is degenerative and painful. I have to use a pillow (special one) when sitting in my chair at home. Sometimes the burning of the fibro is all I can take. Sometimes the beating loud aortic valve I had replaced is all I can take. Sometimes the tinnitus is horrendous and I have to listen to the very loud cricket sounds in my ears.
Avatar m tn It is doubtful that Tinnitus causes an increase in the matabolism. Considering that around 80% of all those over 60yrs old have some type of hearing loss, and considering around 90% of them have tinnitus, and then considering how many overwieght 60+ year olds there.... I do not see a link between tinnitus and an increase in metabolisim. That said, I think you may be going through some depression and in your case, this is your response to it.
Avatar m tn on these sounds to the point were it causes distress. The solution is to deal with the stress, anxiety, depression and don't direct them inward.
Avatar n tn Hi You have not mentioned what kind of sounds you listen while sleeping or the presence of any other symptoms. There may be several causes for sound in the ear- psychological as well as ENT disorders like auditory tube dysfunction, Ménière's disease or infection in the ear. Do you have any other symptoms like lack of sleep or depression? If you feel the sound originates somewhere in your ear and has a ringing or buzzing nature, it may be tinnitus.
