Avatar n tn I don't think anxiety causes seizures. Are you sure about this? Is he on any medications? For example, benzodiazapenes? Because if he's using them and stopping them abruptly it can cause seizures. Have the doctors told you anxiety is causing his seizures?
Avatar f tn I would love to know what the causes of arachnoid cysts are and if medication could also cause an arachnoid cyst.
Avatar n tn I am a 21 yr old male. I have no family history of neurological disorders (except for 'Bi-polar'). For three years I have been having random occuring neurological issues (events / attacks).
Avatar f tn If all brain related causes (transient ischemic attack, disorders of hypothalamus, dementia and multiple sclerosis, head injury etc) are ruled out then Vit B12 deficiency, chronic fatigue syndrome, sleep disorders (by sleep studies), depression, and certain types of seizures (where memory loss is the predominant symptom) should be investigated for as the cause of memory loss. Apart from sleep studies, EEG, you may need cognitive tests like mini-mental state examination (MMSE) or Folstein test.
Avatar f tn Will medication help depression that is not continuos. I am an epileptic and 99% of my seizures occur when I am depressed or worried. Things depress me about twice a month, for two or three days. I believe if I didn't get depressed my seizures would be under control. Does depression medicine help ocassional depression?
Avatar f tn His therapist also prescribed him Celexal and Elavil for depression medication due to bipolar disorder. Now it seems that the 2 anti-depressants have a side effect of seizures, which causes him to seize more than usual. Should the 4 meds be mixed, Keppra, Celexa, Elavil and Trileptal?
Avatar m tn Thank you for your response I don't use any drugs, no seizures depression is not an issue either but I do get little sleep after I finish my day before I go to sleep I stay up till 2:30-3:30 am everyday on the tv or computer and wake up around 7:30-8 if I don't have to wake up for college I usually get a couple more hours of sleep a night but 4 or 5 days a week im getting between 4.5-5.
Avatar f tn I am now allergic to it as it causes severe seizures for me.
Avatar f tn It would be good to find out if they think the seizures were caused by the emsam patch or if your depression is in any way increasing because Depakote isn't a good fit for you. Neurologists typically watch for mood changes when you start or increase a medicine. It is very common so they won't find your situation odd at all. Take care.
686172 tn?1256839717 They did many test and could find nothing wrong with my heart, I had my thyroid tested, I am now being tested for Lyme disease, I am seeing a GP, Neuro and a cardiologist, I have this pressure every day, I was asked by the Neuro, if I was depressed, NO I am not, I was on depression meds years ago, is it REALLY possible, for these kinds of symptoms to be depression? REALLY? Personal stories and Dr's please reply!! Thanks!
Avatar f tn Did your doctor check your clinical history to be sure that there is no high risk of seizures? Both medications lower your threshold for seizures and I read in the Wellbutrin info page that 300 mg or more plus any stimulant of the Central Nervous System (Ritalin, Adderal) increase significantly the risk of having seizures. Be sure to check that with your doctor, especially if he/she is thinking of increasing your Wellbutrin dosage. Good luck and please share your experience with the mixture.
Avatar f tn I would suggest consulting a neurologist first so they can understand what's going on. Many anti-convulsants (including the one I take, although I don't experience this side effect) can sometimes can depression or other personality changes (look on the prescription label or medication website). Also there are seizures associated with emotional changes. A neurologist would know more conclusively. Then they could decide if a referral to a psychiatrist is warranted.
Avatar m tn I'm not familiar with Depression "causing" seizures, I do know some who have seizure suffer with depression also. Maybe the depression can be the frustration of not understanding what is going on with our bodies, that get to me at times for sure. Have the Dr's mentioned increasing any of the medication? If you are on seizure medication during the EEG it won't show any seizure activity from what I was told.
Avatar m tn There are many causes like worms in stool, depression, anorexia nervosa, AIDS, cancers especially colon cancers, drug abuse, infections and loss of appetite. Loss of appetite can again be due to certain medications, drug abuse, depression, AIDS, acute and chronic infections, cancers and hypothyroidism. Either you do not eat well or there is increased metabolism as in hyperthyroid states, HIV, cancer etc.
Avatar f tn My dr. wants to put me on zoloft 50 mg for depression and clonazepam to help me sleep. Has either or both of these drugs worked for anyone? How about weight gain? Or loss?
410208 tn?1253658950 I'm 22 years old with a fairly healthy background. When I was around 5 months pregnant I started having seizure like episodes. I had an EEG done and was told that I have abnormal brain activity and my episodes were not connected with the pregnancy (except my OB along with other ER doctors still believe I'm just looking for attention). I had a MRI with contrast done and nothing was found. I've been on 1500mg of Keppra for the last 9 months and have been ok for the most part.
Avatar f tn He did another eeg and found that I was having grand mal and petit mal seizures so he immediately perscribed the right meds! I have been lucky to have had only approx. 5-7 seizures since seeing Dr.Upton in 1980 which I might add only seemed to have happened when I had forgotten to take my meds! The only unfortunate part of my story is that I take 350mg of dilantin daily and 2000mg of depakene or volproic acid daily. Over time Dr.
Avatar f tn I had seizures from 6-12 they stopped. Three years later I got what is called a conversion disorder. My EEGS are clean and I see a therapist, psychiatrist, and have a emotional support dog because this disoder causes paralysis, contortion of my left side mostly my hand, tremors, high heart rate but feeling calm when it's high, fatigue, walking problems, feeling faint, and anxiety which doesn't help it.
Avatar f tn t previously had seizures and been diagnosed with a condition that causes seizures, you should see a doctor ASAP. Could it be the rum? Maybe, but that's not generally the only sign of an allergic reaction, so it's doubtful that the brand of rum is the cause of your seizure.
Avatar f tn I keep hearing different causes of them kind of seizures. makes me fustrated to, I hope you find the cause its not easy, been a long road for me. Anyways more to my story but basicly this information is just about when I had this seizure which is not one I had before. I hope you get better! Good Luck!
Avatar f tn I having been having dizzy spells almost my whole life but within the last couple years, it's become way worse. I often feel really dizzy like I need to grab onto something so I won'tlose balance and when I'm driving, I have to concentrate so hard since I feel like I'm not in full control of the car. I forget things often like conversations with people, when I currently am and what I'm doing...
328381 tn?1269364102 While milk bones could be a cause of seizures, as you can see, there are numerous causes. The age of your pet would be consistent with true epilepsy. However, this presumptive diagnosis would only be suspected if the bloodwork, fecal, urinalysis and survey radiographs came back normal.
Avatar n tn The leading causes of seizures in a two year old dog are abnormalities in the brain such as hydrocephalus, idiopathic epilepsy (unknown cause) and head trauma. Other causes of seizures include: many infectious diseases including Lyme disease, endocrine disorders, hypoglycemia, toxins, parasites, cancers, and many more.
233622 tn?1279334905 Hi, LA. I'm concerned about your doctor's statement that Avonex causes depression. It does in SOME people. Don't know the stats but I'm sure this is a relatively small minority. Lots of Avonex users do just fine. I'm one. MS itself causes depression, in SOME people. Certainly not all. I for one would not go on any med prophylatically unless I were sure I needed it. Look what happened with Prozac for you.
