Depression causes seizures

Common Questions and Answers about Depression causes seizures

Avatar n tn I had an abnormal eeg(havn't had seizures for 20 years though) and I have recurrent depression and forgetfulness. Also, do you think that partial seizures could cause depressive symptoms?
Avatar f tn I am so sorry that your depression is untreatable, and with all those ECTs it has not improved. I presume no anti-depression medication has been effective in your case either. I presume you have tried them all. You certainly don't sound pathetic, I admire you for being such a fighter. Seems the doctors and psychiatrists have given up on you. Well I do not know what to suggest you do next, seems to me you have tried so hard.
373844 tn?1199340364 Everyday seems like such a challenge and I was reading there could be a relationship between seizures and depression. I am already on a low dose of Klonopin for the anxiety but I don't know what else to do??
327385 tn?1378364331 This could be due to the seizures themselves, due to medications, due to poor sleep, due to depression. Some of these causes, such as depression and poor sleep, and seizure frequency, are treatable, and each of these issues should be addressed. Continued follow-up with your neurologist is recommended, and evaluation by an epilepsy specialist may be of benefit to you. Thank you for this opportunity to answer your questions, I hope you find the information I have provided useful, good luck.
Avatar m tn encephalitis or meningitis, blood vessel malformations in the brain or may be hereditary could be the potential reason of your seizures. . Since you suffer continuous seizures, please arrange an appointment with a neurologist right away who will evaluate the possibilities here and can provide you an appropriate treatment.
Avatar n tn The 'attack' causes hearing sensitivity (where everything is louder, yet clearer, not to the point of uncomfortable however), sensory (touch) altering (where things feel different, like a pen feels like the width of a toothpick), and what I can only call 'Time-attacks' (I feel as if time itself is moving faster to the point that I actually see things moving quicker, such as my-self walking and the T.V. even though). I sometimes have tingleing in my arms and head during them.
Avatar f tn Also not sleeping will most likely make the seizures worse. Other causes/triggers, aside from stress, could be from reading her text books, sounds, flashing lights. The symptoms may be worse during her menstrual cycle as well. Did the neuro attempt to induce a seizure during the mri? Ive read that even magnetic fields can induce seizures. In my opinion drugs should be avoided, particularly b/c her seizures seem to still be undiagnosed other than pyschological.
Avatar f tn Apart from shopping, do you enjoy other hobbies now ? Seizures and its treatment, per se, are not responsible to depression. But long term illness does lead to a reactive depression. In any case, you will have to take care of that. Any more medicines may not be very helpful, unless you have a sever degree of depression. You may take help of a counseling psychologist. What is more important is that you should not give up. Giving up doesn't help.
Avatar f tn The cardiologist said i have a hole betwwen the two atriums, atrial septal disorder, the 30 day heart moniter came back normal and the neurologist did an EEG, came back abnormal the nurse said i was having small seizures coming from left temple, to get a better look i wore a 24 hr EEG that came back normal, my appt is May 19th. Avatar m tn have tried to stop it on and off by tapering down i quit completely once for about a week (i didnt know then you could have seizures) and things were going good and I had no symptoms then something bad happened i can't remember what and i went back to the "scary place" and had to start taking them again. anyway i am under stress from my teenagers mouth and sometimes my spouse doesnt understand me. Avatar f tn I'm lightheaded almost all the time and everything just seems sort of distant. I'm not sure if this falls into mini seizures or pre-seizure symptoms. My doctor thinks I'm dizzy because of depression but I am taking an antidepressant and still experiencing the dizziness, catching myslef before passing out, forgetting what was going on as it is occuring, pressure headaches... what do you think?

Avatar n tn She has been on Lamital since she started, They once gave her Keppra to try to help her from having so many seizures but she had a bad recation to that. Some days she will have the petimal seizures then there will be the grandmal, and then somedays she just has the one where she gets stiff amd stares into space. They tried a new medince last week called Depakote, and she also had a bad recation to that one. Well I was wondering if Anxiety was settng her seizures off, and I'll tell you why.
Avatar f tn I have had two of these episodes where I just fall to the ground and don't know how long I was there. I do know this. The reason joint pain and other symptoms accompany it is because you (we) have silent inflammation that is the underlying cause of most chronic disease (reference Br Barry Sears books). I started with depression in my late teens and it got worse when I started drinking and working more.
Avatar n tn I have recently been diagnosed with OCD (obssessions only), major depression and self harming tendencies (such as cutting superficially on my arms and legs). A few weeks ago I started taking zoloft to control some of these symptoms and to help deal with obssessions about mistreating children. I am tolerating the medication well and am already begining to "talk myself down" when I get vivid thoughts of hurting kids and not feel so guilty about having them.
Avatar n tn To appease them I suggested that pain can be exhausting on the body and exhaustion causes seizures. They are more agreeable to that. I have a very minor heart condition and and sciolosis. After car accidents and returning to work...that is grossly hard on my back, my siezures return. I fell at work a few months ago and my seizures returned and became uncontrolled. If I control my back pain I seem to control my siesures.
2010625 tn?1329375656 I was just wondering what causes Fibromyalgia? Can Anxiety, Depression/Bipolar, IBS, or Genital Herpes cause it?
Avatar n tn I feel like this has been the cause of my seizures and they've found no other cause. Could this be causing these seizures, even though the barbiturate was still in my system with the first one? I have gone to a neurologist, and he knows I take fioricet (he prescribes them) but I haven't told him how many I take. Thanks.
Avatar f tn I would love to know what the causes of arachnoid cysts are and if medication could also cause an arachnoid cyst.
Avatar n tn YES, Welbutrin can and does cause seizures. It is well worth considering this fact if you are thinking of taking this medication. It happened twice to me. Both times with no warning. The first time I was traveling in China with a large tour group (no ill effects, my travel partner let me sleep it off and the next day I was fine) (the hotel doctor spoke no English). The second time I was visiting my father in a nursing home in Calif.
Avatar n tn i have treatment resistant depression. my doctor and i have been through just about every medication i have heard of. recently he mentioned trying ultram. has anyone heard of this pain medication for depression. i really need something to really help but i really don't see how this one added to the regimine will be of benefit. i am on parnate, amitrypiline, cytomel, lithobid, klonipin, and i think thats all.
686172 tn?1256843317 They did many test and could find nothing wrong with my heart, I had my thyroid tested, I am now being tested for Lyme disease, I am seeing a GP, Neuro and a cardiologist, I have this pressure every day, I was asked by the Neuro, if I was depressed, NO I am not, I was on depression meds years ago, is it REALLY possible, for these kinds of symptoms to be depression? Avatar n tn I just woke up in the hospital being wheeled around all effed up with the doctors telling me I crashed my truck, luckily no other cars were involved. Anyways, weed definitely causes seizures for me, especially when combined with alcohol. Actually, any sort of smoke can bring it on. I went to skateboard at a park in a town that was downwind from a major wildfire so it was smokey out.
Avatar f tn I am not myself and do not know if I am fatigued from my disease or do I have depression? I will bring up my concerns at my next appointment with my gastroenterologist, but wanted to ask the community if they/you have any personal experience with this or have a similar situation to share. Thanks.
2030686 tn?1351692148 In my opinion, I think they are concerned about it because the depression Interferon sometimes causes is not just a little case of the blues, but a debilitating major depressive episode. As for your situation, you are very close to the end of treatment and it takes a few weeks for anit-depressants to work, so it would be kind of pointless to start you on them, even if you were able to take said you couldn't take them because of siezures, if I understood your post correctly.
Avatar n tn I see the dr again in a few weeks. If I don,t shake this depression He won,t let me have the treatment cause it causes depression.I can,t see my family cause of the clinic,I am hoping I get a my first take home this weekend so I can go see my family they are over an hour away,I just needed to vent.
304970 tn?1331429594 While bipolar is obviously a more severe case than just regular depression I still think any drug you'd take either 1). hasn't been tested on pregnant women or 2). is harmful. So sorry! Are you doing okay?
Avatar n tn I think my low dose Xanax 0.25 mg is causing me to have depression. Is this possible? Has anyone else experienced this?
Avatar m tn Only this isolated finding is not suggestive of seizures. You appear to be having an anxiety and panic disorder. This can cause you to feel breathless, and disoriented with respect to time and develop increased sensitivity to sound. Alzheimer’s disease, severe anemia, liver and kidney dysfunction causing brain fog, some mental disorders like schizophrenia could be the cause of your feeling disoriented to time.
Avatar f tn About 3 years ago my doctor prescribed me tramadol for some back problems, during the same time I had been trying many different medications for very very bad depression, not normal depression but crippling depression(unable to sleep, leave my home, panic attacks, dillusions, intense paranoia,my world was a living hell and I came close to killing myself a few times)I have taken just about every drug out there at one time or another so I'm well versed on their effects and what they do.
