Avatar n tn Depo Provera is costing me my relationship with my husband. After 7 years married (today) he confessed to me to be emotionally drained... wow... that's because we never have sex. And when we do it feels to me like a job. I don't enjoy it, I want it to be over fast. I definitely NOT GETTING my next shot. I guess I'll go back to the pill =/ Being a woman is a wonderful thing, but chemical birth control *****. Good luck to the ones that keep trying.

Avatar n tn I am 19 and was diagnosed with endometriosis September of last year I have been on Depo Provera since I was 14 because of heavy periods I read a posting on another forum about a woman that had a 19 year old that had been on Depo since she was 15 and now she has been told that her breasts are not growing because of the Depo shots is that possible please help me I am scared that this is happening to me please let me know anything.
Avatar n tn I have been on Depo Provera for 13 years. I have not had a period in probably 10 years or longer. I got the flu and started taking flu medicine and two days later all of the sudden - a period. I am freaking out. What would cause a sudden period after such a long absence? I want it to go away NOW. Did the flu medicine kill my depo shot?
Avatar n tn ) then I gained 25lbs this time around. Plus coming off of depo I had so many terrible side effects. If you really want to be put on depo I would suggest MARINA IUD instead. Depo is suppose to take a while to come out of your system well it doesn't always take that long. They can never really explain it to you. Everyone is differnt but if there was every a law suit against depo I would sign on the dotted line in a heartbeat.
Avatar n tn Despite what docs reassure you, please READ THE SIDE EFFECTS AND CONTRAINDICATIONS OF DEPO PROVERA ON THEIR SITE!! Here are some things you may not have been told: * antibiotics DO decrease the effect of any birth control, whether it is oral, topical, or by injection. * bleeding can and does occur during pregnancy, and esp.
Avatar n tn The Depo is one of the most effective birth controls on the market, but has some side effects that put women off. (I'd never personally use it. I went with a non-hormonal IUD) Side effects you might get are odd spotting, heavy/lighter than normal periods and over time no period, weight gain (this is a real common one) headaches, breast tenderness and a few other I can't think of. You can google for a proper list of side effects and the number of women who experience them.
Avatar f tn i decided to not go on any other birth control for awhile. What are the side effects of coming off the Depo Provera and is it ok to not be on any birthcontrol at all for awhile??
Avatar f tn I had the worst side effects on it, some including anxiety, depression and IBS. My periods stopped while I was on it. I was suppose to go for my second shot on 1/10/2018 but I never went back. I started spotting lightly since that day. But on 1/31/2018 I started bleeding heavily going on 2 weeks now. Some days it’s light and some days it’s heavy. I don’t know if it’s my period or just withdrawal bleeding from that one Depo shot.
Avatar n tn Hi! I'm new to this so please bare with me! I had depo provera injections from Apr 06 - Mar 07 (last one). BF & I have been actively TTC since then - My periods stopped at the 2nd injection and I have not had one since Aug 06. I have had a blood test in Aug which showed estridol 124pg/ml (in the follicular phase) and some more blood tests this week for prolactin which was normal, FSH - 4, LH - 5, and Estridol 489pg/ml. But sill no periods.
Avatar n tn I am a lawyer doing research in NY. Currently I am working on looking into the effects of Depo-Provera in young women, specifically focusing on osteoporosis and infertility. If you have any information please contact me, as I would like to speak with you regarding this matter. My email is ***@****. Thank you for your time.
Avatar f tn Ive been on the depo shot for a little over 4 years now and want to swith to the implanon implant in your arm. i havent really had any side effects from the shot since the first few months i got it except ongoing migraines all the time. i like the shot im just not planning on getting pregnant anytime soon so i figure i should change so i dont have to worry about getting the shot every few months plus im losing health insurance in a few mmonths and dont wanna have to pay for it all the time.
Avatar n tn Also just before the shot was due I would bleed a brownish discharge for 14 days. It was disgusting. I suffered so many side effects with the shot I had to go off it and back onto the pill. Mr Dr hates the Depo shot and was glad when I wanted to go back on the pill. But I did go on the Ortho Evra Patch when that first came out and that was really good. I'm off bc now since we are ttc.
Avatar n tn You don't have a period, Huh? I had a shot & I'm having my period now. I hate this drug. The side effects say you can still have periods & also break thru bleeding. I don't need it for birth control. I have a hormonal imbalance which I've had since I began my periods. It's ruining our sex life, too.
Avatar n tn Hi my name is Marie and i was on depo provera in May 07 and i had my periods in december. It was regular and my last period was in March 08. Since then i never got my periods again. Im confused and lost. Sometimes i take pregnancy tests and they all come out negative. So i really dont know what's the cause. I really need some help and answers! Recently i had sex with my boyfriend and my periods are still not here. But i feel tired and moody from time to times.
Avatar n tn I had been on the Depo Provera shot for about 12 months. My last one was in February. I stopped having a period by my second dose. For various reasons, I had decided not to continue with the shots. However, I still have not had a period and I am having tender breasts, cramps, bloating etc a couple of times a month, as if I am going to get a period, but it never comes. My "PMS" symptoms seem worse than they ever did before Depo or while on it.
Avatar n tn The docotors believe I may have a progesterone problem due to Depo Provera. I was on Depo for 6 years and went off the shot in Sept. Does anyone know if the effects of this shot can linger and cause lower progesterone levels?
Avatar n tn C in June 2013 now its almost Aug 2013 and i am still bleeding.. hate the depo... if i had known the ACTUAL side effects. I'm due for my nxt shot in sept. but im not gonna get it... i want another baby i have 3 kids 2 m/c :/ what would my odds be for carring to term.... 2 d&c procedures i had my 1st m/c then i got pg with my youngest who will b 4 n nov. then another m/c in june 2013... what r the odds for having another m/c with depo chances are higher????
Avatar n tn Well, here goes nothing. I have been on depo provera for over 8 years. I have signed up for a forum for people who are trying to concieve after depo and have had some great support. I have been reading alot your posts and replied to a few. I am told that it could take as long as 2 years before I can get pregnant. I don't think I have ovulated yet. Last shot was August 4, 2006. Usually you take the shots every 3 months since it is possible to get pg if it is taken too late.
193609 tn?1292183893 I have heard a lot about negative aspects of the Depo provera shot! Has anyone had a good experience?? One doc says I can have it, and another says No, so I am just wondering your opinions!!! Thanks!
Avatar m tn Since she has recently started with the depo shots, it may take side effects of depo shot to subside within 3 months. But if she is bleeding continuously then it may cause anemia for which I suggest you to consult her gynecologist. She may prescribe medicines like hormonal contracpetives and tranexemic acid to stop bleeding. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
1891325 tn?1321126576 Depo provera's side effects: • Depression. Several studies report that these occur in less than 5% of users. But should you have a tendency or already suffering from depression then you are more susceptible to this side effect. • Emotional liability, nervousness, fatigue, depression, dizziness. One injection will likely be out in three months. Still, it depends on your muscle as it is a muscular deposit. Seems like you have premenstrual syndrome. Actually, pill 24/4 can help you with that.
Avatar n tn I have never taken Depo, but I know of many women who have taken it with horrible side effects. In particular, there a lot of women that have gotten off of it in order to try to get pregnant and have not been able to conceive. It is probably impossible to prove a direct link between Depo and infertility, but this seems to be a somewhat common problem. Ultimately, the choice is yours, but continue to do some more research on it. There may be other options that are better for you.
Avatar n tn I didn't have any side effects (other then no periods) until I got off depo. Once I got off it, it was horrible, my body went through a horrible withdrawl of the drug, sweats, felt "pregnant" (ie stomach aches, puking, always felt hot, the smell of food would make me sick, sore boobs) headaches, dizziness. And to top it off even once I was off it I didnt' get a period for 7 months, and I only got that one because my doctor gave me provera to jump start my period.
Avatar n tn I'm just one person and this was my reaction to the shot but everyones different and Im sure there are some people that have used the Depo shot and not had any side effects. Best of Luck!!
432411 tn?1206475709 I was on Depo Provera for BC for 8 years with no side effects but headaches, which were manageable. Also had no periods, which was great! However, I became ill when I stopped having the injections at age 45. I experienced fatigue, joint pain and swelling, and depression. I was tested for everything from Lyme disease and Lupus, to thyroid conditons - all negative. My Dr. finally gave up and diagnosed me with Chronic Fatigue syndrome.
Avatar m tn It doesn't sound like you're pregnant. Every symptom you described is side effects of the depo, as well as pregnancy. But you've also had periods and negative blood work. When women get worried about something and fixated on a problem (which is what it sounds like has happened to you) they tend to notice even the smallest things their bodies do and increase it. It's like with a headache. While you're distracted you might not notice it as much, but if you think about it the pain is a lot worse.
