Unfortunately, because it's an injectible birth control method, there isn't much you or your doctor can do if you are having unpleasant side effects. I think you should talk with you doctor to see whats going on and also that you should of check out the side effects before getting on the Depo Provera shot because Deop can cause Irregular, heavy, or no bleeding are common side effects of Depo Provera. After a year of use, many women stop having periods. Lack of a period becomes increasingly common with longer use but since your period hasn't stop you should see your doctor.
The Depo is one of the most effective birth controls on the market, but has some side effects that put women off. (I'd never personally use it. I went with a non-hormonal IUD) Side effects you might get are odd spotting, heavy/lighter than normal periods and over time no period, weight gain (this is a real common one) headaches, breast tenderness and a few other I can't think of. I had tried the Provera when I was about 16 for about a year. I had to stop because I could not handle the side effects any longer. I did spot for about 3 months. It usually takes a few months for your system to get used to it.
The Lupron stops your period completely and basically puts your body into menopause, which is the one I am currently on.

If you were my patient, I would advise you that the effects of depo provera can last for up to 18 months, so "abnormal" periods for up to that long can be normal. I would suggest that you start doing ovulation predictors once you have a normal period and if you are not ovulating regularly, you could start a medication like Clomid to overcome the after effects of the depo.
ve looked them up (as the leaflet with them had hardly any info on and they had no proper box) and many woman all say they regret taking them and were in agony and that was just delaying periods!!! Not only that but the side effects include blood clots and they have been known in my family and seeing as many people do get this side effect they do worry me and my mum a lot!!!
I have had 2 depo provera injections since february 8th this year and have felt amazing, Ive had no side effects and no periods it has given me my life and freedom back however yesterday I started with discharge and light bleeding, is this normal when I havent had a thing since Feb (6 months ago) have to say I am gutted :(

I was on Depo for 3 years and it seems to sound as though you're dealing with the issues of the side effects of the birth control. It happens and really sometimes you get them sooner or in your case later.
I had the worst side effects on it, some including anxiety, depression and IBS. My periods stopped while I was on it. I was suppose to go for my second shot on 1/10/2018 but I never went back. I started spotting lightly since that day. But on 1/31/2018 I started bleeding heavily going on 2 weeks now. Some days it’s light and some days it’s heavy. I don’t know if it’s my period or just withdrawal bleeding from that one Depo shot.
It is important to take a calcium supplement while using depo provera. Weight gain is probably the worst side effect.

They can also give you depo-provera shots that will put you into menopause but it has a lot of side effects. I had a large fibroid tumor that my doc wanted to shrink in order to remove it with laparoscopy versus a major surgery. This was about 20 years ago. They gave me depo-provera shots for three months that shrunk the tumor but also put me in menopause temporarily.
