depo-provera

432411 tn?1206475709 I was on Depo Provera for BC for 8 years with no side effects but headaches, which were manageable. Also had no periods, which was great! However, I became ill when I stopped having the injections at age 45. I experienced fatigue, joint pain and swelling, and depression. I was tested for everything from Lyme disease and Lupus, to thyroid conditons - all negative. My Dr. finally gave up and diagnosed me with Chronic Fatigue syndrome.
Avatar m tn Not sure if this helps, but most of these are side effects of Depo, there isn't anything wrong with you. These should subside as your body adjusts to the Depo. If these issue persist, I'd return to the doctor.
Avatar n tn I just went off the depo shot a few weeks ago because I had serious side effects! I didn't realize it until I went to different doctors trying to find out what was wrong with me. Every test I got back was fine which was frustrating because I knew something wasn't right in my body. I had severe stomach problems that would brought me to the emergency room one night. I have a perfectly healthy stomach so it was strange that I kept getting sick.
Avatar n tn The symptoms you're feeling are also side effects of the depo so they don't tell much of anything. Take a test with first morning urine. At this point it will be accurate.
Avatar n tn Is it like saying just taking longer birth control pills? What are the side effects? What are the benefits? Has FDA approved? Where i can search more about Yaz? Will it affect my future plan of having a healthy pregnancy? Also, i was told if i do want to get pregnant, i should wait 6 months after taking the birth control pills. is that true?
Avatar n tn I'm just one person and this was my reaction to the shot but everyones different and Im sure there are some people that have used the Depo shot and not had any side effects. Best of Luck!!
Avatar n tn As long as you are on Depo, there is no amount of exercise, pill, weight loss shots, and caloric restriction that will help lose weight. Really. The hormones from the Depo put you in a permanent false state of pregnancy. This means you will hold water, fat, etc because your body has been given a hormone that kicks in to cause a primitive instinct to help the fetus survive, even though there is no fetus! It also changes your body chemistry.
1160836 tn?1332333769 My doctor thought it was enviormental (exercise, stress...etc) as I just started to go do body pump right around that time. Every cycle before that was 30-31 days to the day!! So we will see.....
Avatar n tn (not this one) Okay, now, my concern is the effcts after STOPPING yasmin. I understand that all bc pills are different and so are we women as far as side effects go. I have read postings about women who stopped taking yasmin and have experienced the following: - anxiety, panic attacks, heart palpitations and fluttering - depression - excessive weight gain - hair loss *I already have a prob. with depression, anxiety and panic attacks, so I am currently on medication.
Avatar n tn Didn't know it was a shot which may be enough to deter me from taking it. Now you mention that the side effects and I'm wondering if I should just continue taking the pill and take my chances. My husband and I are probably going to try to get pregnant within 6-9 months, so I am trying to do a cost/benefit analysis here. I really don't want to take anything that may make my life a living hell again. Headaches-I get bad ones anyway!
Avatar n tn Now my Doctor would like to put me on effexor, and I just don't know about taking an antideppressant when I'm not depressed, side effects seem so bad. My chiropractor has given me a naturopathy doctors card. He said that maybe I can start taking some vitamis that may help me. I am so tired of feeling this way I am willing to try it. I was having really bad chest pains last week, xray came back fine so that's why my family doc thinks it's panic attacks or anxiety.
1838686 tn?1324010389 What side effects are possible with Depo-Provera? Many medications can cause side effects. Avatar f tn Ive been on the Depo Provera shot for the last 2 months. I have a doctors appointment, but I am very anxious. Please help!
Avatar n tn She is talking about either Danazol or Depo-Provera. I have heard scary stories about both. I would like to go off of all hormones, but am afraid that will do me no good either. Suggestions please?
Avatar n tn I just had an abortion using the ru-486 pills, and got the depo provera shot at the same time. I know because of the abortion im suppose to bleed for about 2 weeks. but ive been bleeding for a month now, heavy at times. at times big blood clumps. Is this normal. is it because of the abortion or the shot? will the bleeding stop? i also get depressed at times, i feel tired, i think cuz of loss of blood, irritated. im sure from the depo provera. is there anything that can counteract this shot?
Avatar n tn I should add that I'm currently on depo-provera for birth control and 225mg of effexor for depression.
Avatar n tn Its all in my midsection (like I have a flotation device around my waist) and in my upper arms. I was put on elavil years ago for my headaches and that combined with the depo provera birth control and zoloft who knows what has caused it although i have taken all of those drugs in the past with no problems. I had blood work done and there were no problems.
Avatar f tn Your symptoms are worse than what you started. Yaz, like many other birth control pills will cause side effects, but since they are so popular and have put their name so far out to the public, the company is seen as doing the opposite and worse than other companies.
10977101 tn?1414282594 and it didn't help the cramps or the heavy bleeding. went back and was put on the depo provera shot and my mom asked the doctor what could be causing me to have severe cramps and the weight loss. the doctor told my mom that i was aneroxic and bulemic and that i should see a pyschatrist. after that being said i decided to not go back to that obygn after i stopped taking the depo provera shot because that wasn't helping the pain either. at that point in my life i was loosing hope.
Avatar f tn I don't need a CA 125 because they already know I have endo She sent me home with treamtment options to read up on but suggested continual birth control pills (not taking sugar pills but starting a new pack so period does not occur) or Depo shot. The main downfall with Depo is if you have any side effects you are stuck with them for three months until it wears off. I'm not sure what I am going to do but trying to decide in the next couple of days.
Avatar n tn I have read that sometimes antidepressants can cause it, but the two that I am on (Celexa and Wellbutrin) are on the 'least likely to cause those side effects' list. My grandmother, aunt, and mother all had to have hysterectomies in their late 30's and early 40's so I hope that it is nothing too bad.
Avatar n tn com You will find much information about it there. It's not just for depression. It has it's side effects, the worst being some interference with sexual function. I have no intention to sound crude here so please don't be offended. I think most folks are probably the most concerned with the sexual side effects of Paxil. I call it the depression of the emotion of orgasm. My personal experience has been that it prolongs the coming of orgasm but I think my wife probably appreciates that.
Avatar n tn As much as I want to lose weight, the list of side effects for Topomax scares me. My current med, Effexor/Lithium has side effects such as weight gain, constipation, tremor, etc. While I hate being fat, blurry vision ans brain fog don't appeal to me either. Of course there are also the risks of diabetes and heart disease from being overweight too. I'm having a very hard time deciding about this. Any advice is welcome.
Avatar n tn i have a 10 yr old , after i had him i went on the depo shot for 3 months and had to stop it because it made me so sick but it also took usalmost 6 months to concieve our son, so no 10 years later no other children and not from lack of trying...
Avatar n tn I have not been able to get it up to a high enough dosage to really help yet cause of side effects. I have PCOS (was diagnosed several years ago) and have been off of the pill for years, but really started "trying" in February. I am not patient enough to wait for the Met to work I don't think, but if it is going to work for you, you won't really know until you have been on it for 3-6 months from everything I have read about it. It can take that long to get your cycles regular.
Avatar n tn I switched because I found I was having side effects within the past 6 months or so - same thing happened with my sister - no side effects until a couple years in... weird. What I was experiencing was night sweats occasionally (my sister was getting them every night - and couldn't handle it - so she went off) It was annoying but not bad. Then I noticed a decrease in sex drive, and a few other things that i feel may have been associated, but I'm not sure.
Avatar n tn So far I have experienced only very mild side effects (vomiting once). One thing I am trying to figure out is if the metformin is the reason I feel so drained. I have zero energy. I've never been the most energetic person but now I have so little energy I find myself spending less time shopping and going to church. I hear the met can cause a B12 deficiency, so maybe thats what it is. The pharmacist tells me its hard to absorb the vitamin so its kind of pointless to take them.
Avatar n tn and had it taken out because i was getting irritable very easily and moody i was on the copper IUD and was told there was no side effects my question is how true is this statement . i just want to find out if there is a link between all of the sympyoms and if any to the birth control .
196469 tn?1365391575 But, progesterone cannot be patented and so the company that makes Premarin came up with a Progestin, as Katie pointed out, and they called it Provera (Depo Provera is a relative of this). The two drugs together, Premarin and Provera, Equal Prempro. It is now theorized that the Progestins are what helps create the big mess in the synthetic world of hormones. The snythetic estrogens are not great either ( I, like you, would only use a bio estrogen like Vivelle) but that Progestin is nasty.
