Avatar n tn Depo Provera is costing me my relationship with my husband. After 7 years married (today) he confessed to me to be emotionally drained... wow... that's because we never have sex. And when we do it feels to me like a job. I don't enjoy it, I want it to be over fast. I definitely NOT GETTING my next shot. I guess I'll go back to the pill =/ Being a woman is a wonderful thing, but chemical birth control *****. Good luck to the ones that keep trying.
Avatar f tn I would like someones opinion if their is a way to counteract these side effects or if I should just switch? I just really like the depo because so is very reliable for my-self. Please I would love some opinions.
Avatar n tn Despite what docs reassure you, please READ THE SIDE EFFECTS AND CONTRAINDICATIONS OF DEPO PROVERA ON THEIR SITE!! Here are some things you may not have been told: * antibiotics DO decrease the effect of any birth control, whether it is oral, topical, or by injection. * bleeding can and does occur during pregnancy, and esp.
1891325 tn?1321126576 Depo provera's side effects: • Depression. Several studies report that these occur in less than 5% of users. But should you have a tendency or already suffering from depression then you are more susceptible to this side effect. • Emotional liability, nervousness, fatigue, depression, dizziness. One injection will likely be out in three months. Still, it depends on your muscle as it is a muscular deposit. Seems like you have premenstrual syndrome. Actually, pill 24/4 can help you with that.
Avatar f tn I had the worst side effects on it, some including anxiety, depression and IBS. My periods stopped while I was on it. I was suppose to go for my second shot on 1/10/2018 but I never went back. I started spotting lightly since that day. But on 1/31/2018 I started bleeding heavily going on 2 weeks now. Some days it’s light and some days it’s heavy. I don’t know if it’s my period or just withdrawal bleeding from that one Depo shot.
290291 tn?1258156913 on your 13 week, yea right, doctors need to be more informative with this depo because i wouldve never got it, i could be prego now if it wasnt for depo. I started getting side effects a week before my shot was due and have had them ever since. severe abdominal pain, depression, mood swings, severe hair loss, very bad acne, gaining weight, just dont feel like myself. i also had a false prego on depo right after my shot was due test came up positive but i wasnt.

Avatar n tn The docotors believe I may have a progesterone problem due to Depo Provera. I was on Depo for 6 years and went off the shot in Sept. Does anyone know if the effects of this shot can linger and cause lower progesterone levels?
Avatar n tn Well, here goes nothing. I have been on depo provera for over 8 years. I have signed up for a forum for people who are trying to concieve after depo and have had some great support. I have been reading alot your posts and replied to a few. I am told that it could take as long as 2 years before I can get pregnant. I don't think I have ovulated yet. Last shot was August 4, 2006. Usually you take the shots every 3 months since it is possible to get pg if it is taken too late.
Avatar n tn I have never taken Depo, but I know of many women who have taken it with horrible side effects. In particular, there a lot of women that have gotten off of it in order to try to get pregnant and have not been able to conceive. It is probably impossible to prove a direct link between Depo and infertility, but this seems to be a somewhat common problem. Ultimately, the choice is yours, but continue to do some more research on it. There may be other options that are better for you.
432411 tn?1206475709 I was on Depo Provera for BC for 8 years with no side effects but headaches, which were manageable. Also had no periods, which was great! However, I became ill when I stopped having the injections at age 45. I experienced fatigue, joint pain and swelling, and depression. I was tested for everything from Lyme disease and Lupus, to thyroid conditons - all negative. My Dr. finally gave up and diagnosed me with Chronic Fatigue syndrome.
Avatar n tn I am wondering what side effects are expected from Depo. I have read that many women gain a significant amount of weight, and I am extremely health-conscious and exercise frequently, and I don't want this to happen to me. Also, many studies talk about depression, and a possible irreversible loss of bone density (kinda goes with the weight gain). Anyone care to share experience/advice about depo? Thanks a bunch!!!
Avatar n tn ive been on the depo injection for about 3years now,i desperately want to get off it but its like im addicted ,i mean da side effects are awful-manic depression, anti social, weight gain no periods, everytime my next shot is due i say ill never get another 1 but da symptoms i get when im like 1 or 2 days overdue for my shot are so terrible i run an get another 1 what can i do to wean myself off it
Avatar f tn I have ovarian cysts and to manage them I had to be on birth control. The pills gave me horrible side effects so I went to PP to discuss other contraceptives. I read the tiny pamphlet that stated minimal side effects, so I decided to follow through. I was only 24 when I received the first shot.. I wish I never had ever made that choice. The day after I felt fine.. It was only the week after that I started to notice severe changes to my body.
Avatar n tn happyflower i feel your pain i had one baby and i went on depo............ my doctor failed to tell me about the side effects.............i took one shot last august and.... i haven't seen a period till this day............. now i'm married and i want another baby and it seems impossible.........i have gained over 50lbs and i have no sex drive.. what am i supposed to do know??
202436 tn?1326477933 I wasn't planning on using any birth control after I had Lily, we were just gonna go with natural family planning. Well at my doc appt today he suggested the depo provera shot may help with milk production since I'm having an issue with it due to anemia. I went ahead and got the shot becuase I figured it was worth trying to see if it WILL help AND with the anemia problems right now it's probably best that I elminate as much risk of pregnancy as possible for awhile.
Avatar n tn The most important thing to remember about Depo, is that you need to take a calcium supplement while on it. The side effects from Depo are the same side affects you will experience from any birth control. Just make an informed decision.
Avatar f tn Anyway, I have a lot to say about the contraceptives that I have tried here, and none of them satisfied me at all. Weight gain and depression were the most common side effects I have gone through when taking Loestrin 30 (ethinylestradiol, norethisterone) and once I decided to put the Implanon (etonogestrel) – I could only handle it inside for 7 months and it was awful all the way out. I have never had so many side effects as this one.
Avatar n tn Has anyone experienced any bad side effects from the hcg shots? I am administering them myself and just want to know what to look out for.
Avatar n tn days when I can barely function and have also experienced symptoms of hypoglycemia and panic attacks and or crying jags for no reason. I have been reading a lot about the Depo side effects some women have had and they mirror mine. I've had a thyroid test and it was fine, so I don't think that I'm diabetic. I have been trying to eat well and clense with milk thistle to try to hasten the exit of the Depo.
Avatar f tn I've been reading alot of different side effects from different people on the depo provera shot.. some that go from hair loss to joint pain, mood swings, water retention, WEIGHT GAIN ..and the list goes on and on.
Avatar n tn I just went off the depo shot a few weeks ago because I had serious side effects! I didn't realize it until I went to different doctors trying to find out what was wrong with me. Every test I got back was fine which was frustrating because I knew something wasn't right in my body. I had severe stomach problems that would brought me to the emergency room one night. I have a perfectly healthy stomach so it was strange that I kept getting sick.
1908359 tn?1321937254 Hello, Menstrual irregularities are known side effects of depo provera. This can be in the form of excessive bleeding or less bleeding. Depo-Provera is a long-acting progestin (hormone) form of birth control and after using depo shots for an year atleast half of the women were not menstruating. The effects of the depo provera may last after several months after the last injection. You need to consult a gynaecologist for the same. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn Well I got my period immediately after the first pack, went and saw the main doctor and was told that the resident was uninformed about the side effects of Depo, and they were foolish to tell me that I had PCOS. It ABSOLUTELY was an effect of Depo. I've been regular ever since! Like I said, you should be fine. If it takes you a little longer than you were hoping to get back to normal don't freak out.
Avatar n tn I recently had an Impanon removed after two years of side effects - excessive weight gain, depression, almost non-stop bleeding, no libido etc. When these symptoms didn't clear entirely after removal I was investigated further and am now being treated for Hashimotos. I'm slowly feeling much better. I'm wondering now if thyroid issues maybe the real reason some women have so many side effects from Implanon?
