Avatar m tn Hi! I recently got the Depo Provera shot a couple weeks ago, and it is was within the 5-7 days before my period of which was supposed to be on the 23rd of last month.. And I still haven't gotten my period, I took a pregnancy test and it came out negative, I'm just really worried maybe the test was wrong, or is it normal to have a really late period after having your first shot?
Avatar m tn I just got a shot of depo-provera birth control 3 days ago and my period was supposed to start yesterday and it hasn't. I am sexually active and the last time I had sex was on my period last month and we used condoms but I wasn't on birth control and my partner did not go all the way. I just went to the GYN and got my annual pelvic exam and my first shot of depo and so far everything has been okay.
Avatar f tn I have been on depoprovera for over four years and i usually get my period three 2 five days before my shot, if at all. My shot is not due for another two weeks and I have been on my period for more than three weeks already. Is this a serious problem?
Avatar n tn I have been on the depo provera for 2 and a half years now, I have a period every 3 month 10-14 days before im due my depo. I havnt had a period this time and i am due to get it in 2 days. Could i be pregnant?
Avatar f tn You should invest in ovulation predictor kits to help you know when your most fertile days are, and that can improve your chances of conception. Good Luck!
Avatar n tn I went through two rounds of Depo. One in Feb of 2007 and the one after that. I got a period in May of this year. I stopped until about September and I am slowly getting back to being regular. I am not quite there yet. It does take a while for some women and others back right back. If you would like to start a cycle, consider asking your doctor about another method of birth control that regulates your cylce (i.e. the pill or nuva ring).
Avatar n tn I was told that it take 9 months to a year for your body to go back to normal after using depo. I myself used it for about a year and didn't recieve my period till after 10 months of stopping it. Maybe for you it will take longer since you were on depo for 3 years. As for the pcos I'm not sure if depo was the cause of it.

Avatar n tn I was on it for 18 months. And it took me four months after my missed shot to get get a period. Which was yesterday. So I'm hoping I can now ovulate since a period is a sign that ovulation had occurred and I just didn't get pregnant when it did. I didnt do anything special to bring it on. Unfortunately I just waited and waited until it came. Good luck to you and baby dust!
Avatar f tn Hi I'm 17 and I was wondering if its normal to be back on your regular periods and not be able conceive for a while, how long will it possibly take to conceive after my periods come back ?
Avatar f tn If the test is negative, I would chalk it up to the Depo shot and wait and see what happens during the next few months. Hope this helps!
1636874 tn?1311551031 I'm planning on getting the Depo shot this Friday, the 18th of March, and I'm a bit of worry wort. I was wondering, with the slight chance of me being pregnant, if I got the shot not even a week after "conception". Would it spontaneously abort? Would it hurt me? Would it keep the baby but give it birth defects? I'm not really sure and I would like my question answered because I am very worried. We used the condoms properly, no breaks or slippage. So, I highly doubt I am pregnant.
Avatar f tn I been on depo since 2008 and never had a period since I just now been in.a relationship ny bf ejaculated inside me . My question.really is isn't it hard to.become pregnant while taking the depo.
Avatar f tn You should consult with your doctor if you are interested in TTC at this time and you have not yet resumed having periods after your Depo. It can take quite a while to resume your regular cycle.
Avatar n tn No matter how long you are on it, it can take 12-18 months to fully get depo provera out of your system. I had a hard time after depo, my body started going through withdrawls of the drug and I had a cyst on my ovary from depo which was causing me not to ovulate.

Avatar f tn Hello ladies i been of depo for 5 months now i received my period right after coming off. The thing is my periods are very irregular am i able to take over the counter fertility drugs to help jump start ovulation?
Avatar n tn You can get irregular bleeding when you first start the Depo-Provera, but if you have never had this heavy bleeding before you should consult your doctor as soon as possible. They can check some hormones and examine you to make sure everything is OK.
Avatar n tn It stays in for 3 wks and then comes out for a week and you have your period and put another in for 3 weeks. There is a little timer that you get free form your dr that beeps when it is time to take it out and again when you are due to put another in. The cost is comparable to the pill, in fact the same as the multi-hormone pills. Anyway, I would strongly reccomend the ring to you if you are looking for a BC that you don't have to think of every day.
Avatar f tn It is possible to have a baby after being on depo for a long period of time. Keep in mind it takes depo 12-18 months to get out of your system. So once you are off of it do not expect to get pregnant quickly.

Avatar f tn Hello, Depo-Provera is a long-acting progestin (hormone) form of birth control. If you stop getting Depo-Provera injections, your period usually returns within 3 to 10 months but sometimes it may take 12-18 mths. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
4069776 tn?1349521984 Hello, I was on depo provera for 9 years, I had my last shot in Jan 2012 and was suppose to come get my next shot April 2012, My doctor informed me that it would be fine for me to just stop taking it because I did so well while I was on it and that I should be fine coming off of it, well I didnt. I had horrible side effects from July and they are still happening now, I have had every test done (ultrasounds, blood test, endoscopes, ect.) and everything came back normal.
273379 tn?1213044686 I took depo after he was born and it really messed up my cycles. I was very irregular and then didn't have a period for months. My ex husband and I broke up and I was afraid I was pregnant again because I really had no way of knowing without having regular periods. It was impossible for me to know when and if I was ovulating. Anyway, I also began having some of your same symptoms. The tenderness in the breasts especially. That had really only happened to me when I was pregnant.
Avatar f tn I've been on Depo Provera for almost a year but i've decided to not get my next shot in two weeks i'm not wanting to get pregnant anytime soon but I'm wondering how long will it take for the Hormones to leave my body and what kind of side effects should I expect?
