Avatar f tn A few years ago, I was put on Depo Provera. I was taking this for about a year and only had 1 menstrual period in this entire time. I have heard that this is quite common, and it can really mess up your cycle etc. I stopped taking it and went back to the pill as soon as possible, and I was soon back to normal.
Avatar f tn I have been on the Depo Provera shot for more than 5 years now. I read that the recommended amount of time that a young woman should be on Depo is only 2 years. I am 20 now and I have been on it since I was 15. I have tried to come off of it once. I bled for about 3 weeks and then got back on it. Currently I have all kinds of pain. Back, kness, neck, arms, and I have migraines. I read about a calcium deficiency when doing research about Depo Provera.
Avatar f tn Im taking depotrust for almost 2 yrs now. And i have no menstruation since then. Im sopposed to take my next shot last nov but i skipped.. My menstruation still dont resume back.. Is it possible to get pregnant if i had my contact during this time even if my menstruation did not resume yet?
Avatar f tn m wondering if this length will lessen, and what experiences and advice other people have had with depo, and whether you would recommend it long term for a 16 year old.
Avatar f tn Hi ladies. My last depo provera shot ran out in november and i never got it renewed as i was having bad side effects and i wanted to come off all contraceptives to let my body sort itself out. Its now nearly april and i havnt had any signs of a period apart from stomach cramps now andagain. I was just wondering if anyone had any information for me as im getting a little bit worried/frustrated. Thanks in advance!
Avatar n tn I didn't have a period or any bleeding at all after my surgery, but since I am on depo provera, I don't typically get them anyway. I wouldn't worry too much, it may take a bit for your body to readjust and the ovaries to start working again. Have you had a follow up yet? Maybe just give your doctor a call and ask, but it seems normal to me.
Avatar n tn has taken me off the Depo Shots and I was put on Birth Control Pills. The blood was very dark red and blood clots. I was given an altrsound was told nothing was wrong. Is this normal with the Depo Provera?
Avatar n tn Alternatively, a progesterone only form of contraception will provide endometrial protection, although most will not regulate your bleeding.
Avatar f tn Other forms of medroxyprogesterone, such as Depo-Provera, are used as a contraceptive injection and prescribed in the treatment of endometrial cancer. Some doctors prescribe Provera to treat endometriosis, menopausal symptoms, premenstrual tension, sexual aggressive behavior in men, and sleep apnea (temporary failure to breathe while sleeping). Avatar n tn i have been on depo shot for 6 yrs.i have now been off for 1yr.4months,my husband and i are trying to have a baby,by me being on shot so long do you think its still in my system the reason i havent gotten pregeant since ive been off the shot?
Avatar n tn and being doubled over in so much pain. See you ob/gyn and discuss your options. For me, I went on the depo-provera shot for 3 years. Had no menstruation. When I went off the shot, my periods were shorter and with nearly no pain anymore. Best of luck!
Avatar f tn I have a history of anxiety and depression. Is depo-provera a good choice or a bad choice for birth control? Thank you!
1467678 tn?1370941532 I started the depo provera shots last year (june), and was due for my last one 2nd January just gone. i didnt get the injection as me and my partner now want to start a family. When i was on the injection i was regular with a period every month.
Avatar f tn Im 28 and have never been pregnant slightly overweight but not too concerred and getting it back down periods were always regular and pain free went on for birth control, my husband has 1 child already and decided to start are own family.
959562 tn?1247109979 previous to that i was on birth control for 6 years. I just wanted to update you guys! Oh and does anyone know anything about provera??
Avatar n tn Hi, I am not sure of what type of antibiotic might affect other contraceptives like the pill, but I am pretty sure that she will be fine on the shot. I myself had the depo-provera shot about 10 years ago. I only had one shot and I didn't have a period until a whole year later. It actually took me over another year after my period returned before, I finally became pregnant. The depo-provera shot is extremely effective.
Avatar f tn s no way to tell for sure, but more and more proof is coming out that autism is NOT linked to vaccines, and because depo provera is an active hormone shot and not a vaccine, I highly doubt that it is the cause. Are your other children girls by any chance? Very often a family that has an autistic child only has 1 (almost always a boy), and the rest of the children are "normal". They are thinking more and more that it's a genetic mutation.
384896 tn?1335294331 not sure about the breast feeding part but a lot of women on this site might agree with me to stay clear of depo-provera. I was on this bc for 2 and a half years and have been ttc for the same length of time with no joy. I was diagnosed with depression at 16 years old when i was on this, i asked the doc if that was the problem and was told no, when the depo eventually cleared from my system so did the depression my family say i was a new person.
Avatar f tn m outside the normal range of time after stopping Depo Provera to have gotten my periods back. Could Depo be causing these problems or does it sound like something else could be a problem?
Avatar n tn c and diagnosed having a molar pregnancy. so that was in jan 2011. I immediately in february got on depo provera (birth control) and missed my due back in may 2011. Ive just started to have a normal menustration in july since all of that and we have been having sex and still no positive test. should i be worried yet ?
Avatar f tn In order to get pregnant though, you need to not only be ovulating but you also need to be producing fertile cervical mucous and a thick uterine lining after you ovulate. The reason Depo-Provera is so long lasting is because of the way it works. The levels of DMPA (the synthetic hormone in Depo-Provera) gradually increase over a three week period, at which time they reach their peak levels. After three weeks the DMPA levels begin to decrease exponentially.
Avatar n tn One thing I noticed during my internet search was a number of results discussing Depo Provera and how it has caused the onset of early menopause in women even in their 20’s. Has anyone else heard about this, and if so, are there other resources I can review to get more information on this correlation? Thanks, I just have to know what is causing this!
Avatar f tn Recently, Me and My Boyfriend had un-protected sex.. and afterwards i started bleeding. we haven't had sex in a week, what could time be a sign of.. I am on Depo Provera-the birth control shot?
Avatar f tn I had to have two surgeries that month and I was told I could start provera anytime after the surgery I wanted to. I took it and bled very heavily while on it. When I was supposed to get a withdrawal bleed from the provera I hardly had anything. I thought it was because of the heavy bleed I had just had. Come to find out yesterday I have a huge cyst and we won't be able to do another IVF cycle until its gone. Pcos is so hard to deal with especially while ttc.
3113005 tn?1341773834 I am little confused by your question. The depo provera shot is given once every three months not for three months at some unspecified interval. If you mean that you received the depo shot 4 months ago, and hence, the last month, you did not get a repeat depo shot, then the answer to your question is, yes, you can get pregnant. I was on the depo shot for about 5 years before stopping to try to conceive. It took me 3 years to conceive my son who is 6 years old.
