depo-provera

Avatar f tn Depo Provera { Started 5/20/2010, Last Shot 2/9/2012 } Before I started getting the Depo Provera Injections I always had a normal, slightly heavy period. Minimal cramping. After taking Depo Provera for 1 year I finally lost my periods.
Avatar f tn I've been on Depo Provera for almost a year but i've decided to not get my next shot in two weeks i'm not wanting to get pregnant anytime soon but I'm wondering how long will it take for the Hormones to leave my body and what kind of side effects should I expect?
Avatar m tn I've been having the depo-provera injection for over a year now, and my periods have stopped but around a week before I'm due to have my injection I get bad cramping. My nurse has shortened the amount of time I have between my injections (it's meant to be 12 weeks but I have mine at 10) but I'm still getting the cramping. Is there any way I can reduce the cramping?
Avatar n tn has taken me off the Depo Shots and I was put on Birth Control Pills. The blood was very dark red and blood clots. I was given an altrsound was told nothing was wrong. Is this normal with the Depo Provera?
Avatar f tn The only minor side effects I did have was mild cramping after the shot, and headaches. Although once I got off depo that was different. My hair started to fall out, I gained weight, headaches were worse and so on. This pregnancy happened 2 months after being off birth control completely, and while hubby had a vesectomy. So the only real birth control i think is no sex.....which is damn near impossibale lol.
Avatar m tn Hello, I have been given my FIRST depo-provera shot earlier this month, and it was not within my cycle - it was the 11th day afterwards. I had unprotected sex the following day, and am very worried I may be pregnant. Since I did not wait the seven days. I am extremely nauseous, getting bad headaches every two-three days, tender breasts, mood swings and today, I had a strong and sharp cramping feeling that lasted for less than thirty seconds, repeated and then stopped.
Avatar n tn Depo provera takes on average 4 shots before your periods stop.
Avatar f tn i have tried everything, from lupron, to laparoscopies, to yaz, to smoking marijuana - currently i am on Depo Provera and have been for the past year and a half. I am noticing a lot of side affects from this as time goes on, and unfortunately for me this has been the only thing that even remotely helps, and i still have a lot of pain.
Avatar n tn u could also try speaking with your doctor about the best time 2 try and conceive after stopping depo.
Avatar f tn I have a history of anxiety and depression. Is depo-provera a good choice or a bad choice for birth control? Thank you!
Avatar f tn Im 28 and have never been pregnant slightly overweight but not too concerred and getting it back down periods were always regular and pain free went on for birth control, my husband has 1 child already and decided to start are own family.
Avatar f tn I am 27. I was on Depo-Provera for 5 years, and have been off it for 3 years with normal (for me) menstrual cycles. During the past 6 months I have been trying to conceive, with no success. My period usually lasts about 4 days with a light to moderate flow. However, recently (during the past few months) I have been experiencing severe cramping during my period and lower back pain, as well as constant abdominal pain (not severe).
Avatar n tn Hi, I am not sure of what type of antibiotic might affect other contraceptives like the pill, but I am pretty sure that she will be fine on the shot. I myself had the depo-provera shot about 10 years ago. I only had one shot and I didn't have a period until a whole year later. It actually took me over another year after my period returned before, I finally became pregnant. The depo-provera shot is extremely effective.
Avatar f tn But since i had three kids and only three pregnancies My boy friend made me get on The depo. I am very fertle so My first shot was in feb of last year and i had alot of pain and light bleeding. The second shot was The same and by The third i decided not to take it any more i never had a period again. Now this year in feb i had some Spotin for two days , march for three days , then i had a period two days after it stoped.
Avatar f tn s no way to tell for sure, but more and more proof is coming out that autism is NOT linked to vaccines, and because depo provera is an active hormone shot and not a vaccine, I highly doubt that it is the cause. Are your other children girls by any chance? Very often a family that has an autistic child only has 1 (almost always a boy), and the rest of the children are "normal". They are thinking more and more that it's a genetic mutation.
384896 tn?1335294331 not sure about the breast feeding part but a lot of women on this site might agree with me to stay clear of depo-provera. I was on this bc for 2 and a half years and have been ttc for the same length of time with no joy. I was diagnosed with depression at 16 years old when i was on this, i asked the doc if that was the problem and was told no, when the depo eventually cleared from my system so did the depression my family say i was a new person.
Avatar f tn I'm 16, I have only took took shots of depo provera but didn't go on my 3rd shot which was April 29, 2014 because I have had continuous bleeding ever since I first started the depo which was November 2013. It's been over 6month's of non-stop bleeding and it still has not stopped even through I am no longer on the Shots. My periods would be kind of heavy then light then turn brown, then start all over in that order but it has never gone off !!
505857 tn?1329681517 I was on the depo-provera for 2 and a half years came off of it in August 2007 and got my period back straight away, it then went mental from July 2008 until September 2008 where one month it was really light then nothing then back again. I then went onto the contraceptive pill from Sept 08 until Dec 08 as i was told this could regulate my af which it did. from january this year until April my af has been between 28 and 30days, this has been the longest month without af so far.
Avatar f tn In order to get pregnant though, you need to not only be ovulating but you also need to be producing fertile cervical mucous and a thick uterine lining after you ovulate. The reason Depo-Provera is so long lasting is because of the way it works. The levels of DMPA (the synthetic hormone in Depo-Provera) gradually increase over a three week period, at which time they reach their peak levels. After three weeks the DMPA levels begin to decrease exponentially.
440473 tn?1204745862 sounds like ur ovulating and women who ovulate heavy have this clear stringy discharge.....odorless..my mom had it..i had it.....and thank God Depo provera did away with it!my ovulation and cramping with this was worse than periods later on in life.....and while ovulating like this u can get pregnant...if u doubt this or want medical opinion got to doctor and get xamined!
Avatar n tn One thing I noticed during my internet search was a number of results discussing Depo Provera and how it has caused the onset of early menopause in women even in their 20’s. Has anyone else heard about this, and if so, are there other resources I can review to get more information on this correlation? Thanks, I just have to know what is causing this!
Avatar f tn Some people "like me" I had to get my Depo-Provera at 11 weeks and if I didn't I would see dark colored blood
1524708 tn?1311998493 Last night I noticed a clear jelly-like, odorless, mucous discharge when I went to urinate. I know there isn't any chance of pregnancy, but I was on the Depo-Provera for several years and quit taking that in the summer. I switched to birth control pills, but since I'm not in a relationship or even dating, I quit taking that about two months ago.
Avatar f tn Recently, Me and My Boyfriend had un-protected sex.. and afterwards i started bleeding. we haven't had sex in a week, what could time be a sign of.. I am on Depo Provera-the birth control shot?
3113005 tn?1341773834 I am little confused by your question. The depo provera shot is given once every three months not for three months at some unspecified interval. If you mean that you received the depo shot 4 months ago, and hence, the last month, you did not get a repeat depo shot, then the answer to your question is, yes, you can get pregnant. I was on the depo shot for about 5 years before stopping to try to conceive. It took me 3 years to conceive my son who is 6 years old.
