Avatar f tn How soon after a cataract operation (on the 4th) can I have dental treatment for replacing a crown or maybe having this back tooth out. Some aching experienced but dentist said it did not look urgent. The discomfort is on the tooth next to the wisdom on the inside and on this side there seems to be a gap and sharp edge to the cap.
Avatar m tn I had two dental implants put on me today, by my dentist he used local anesthesia, can I expect a sore throat as a side effect ? after the local anesthesias effect went away ? i am experiencing a sore throat after the operation.
Avatar n tn What about all the people flying to Budapest to get dental treatment? Access smile may be able to help a little. There on the net. I have flown straight after a tooth extraction twice. Even though feeling weak and aching. Sleeping on a cafe seat over night in the dublin airport, I was glad to be helped as Uk nhs wasn't. I didn't care that I was swollen and probably people would wonder what as happened to me. The dentist in Budapest was so gentle of both accounts.
Avatar m tn Seems to be standard practice in the UK, I've had more broken bone surgery than I care to think about (gotta love those sporting injuries) and every time, afterwards I've been prescribed codeine, APAP and diclofenac for pain relief. Seems to just be the standard way of doing things here.
Avatar m tn hello,i broke my 9 and 10th teeth about 5 years ago in a hockey match. my dentist recommended cap and inserted a steel screw post before fixing the cap.i feel the presence of metal screw when i touch the portion of my face near my nose below which the screws are placed. They feel little uncomfortable when i touch them and i feel like removing them, i seriously thing of going for a tooth implant which i personally feel would be comfortable.
Avatar f tn i had an operation in the 'C' section of my neck 14 months ago, an MRI showed before the op i had a crushed spinal canal from C2-T7. i had 3 discs removed from the 'C' section and replaced with bone taken from my hip, which had been made into a resin and then 2, 3 sided blocks if titanium held with 10 screws to hold and line everything back in place. unfortunately it releived some of the symptons i was getting but has caused others.
Avatar f tn My stomach was full of food after fasting for 11 hrs and convinced this operation has exacerbated slow transit, which I did have very slightly before the operation. The only thing they are offering me is to take an antibiotic to quicken the stomach contractions as they will not operate again after having three of them! Is there anyone out there who suffers from the same thing since the operation. I would love to hear from you and of your experiences. Many thanks.
Avatar n tn I would like to know why laughing gas (nitrous oxide) is not a good option for my daughter to undertake while receiving dental care as she needs to be sedated. I am told that she needs to be adminstered the normal anesthesia as if she were receiving a surgery in a hospital. I understand that a cardiologist as well as the anesthesiologist should be present during the care (dental), but why specifically is laughing gas more hard on her system?

Avatar n tn Have you contacted your local dental society? Sorry, I'm based in the US so I'm not as familiar with the dental system in the UK. If there is a local dental society, they may be able to direct you to some type of service or volunteer dental program where they may be able to provide some services for you.
Avatar f tn I think I have a wisdom tooth coming through on my top left side. It hurts and if I shine a light in my mouth I'm sure i can see the start of one coming through. I'm a 17 y/o girl. Can I get it removed without it even being fully through? Or do I have to wait? Also I don't want to be put under and I don't want laughing gas. I don't have anxiety over this, I had fillings done and I wasn't nervous at all. Can I just have the numbing stuff and be done with it?
Avatar f tn I have been trying to post in the titanium dental implant allergy section but failed last time. I have several implants in my upper jaw which I am desperate to have removed as I have felt unwell for over 8 years since having them placed. I live in the uk and would like to find someone in the London area who could help me. I cannot believe i did this to myself and so wish I still had a denture.
Avatar f tn Hi, last year I did root canal in one of my teeth because of cavity and immediately after that I had to come to the Uk. I felt pain in the tooth for almost 1-2 months but I thought that could possibly because one side of my crown is little higher than the other side. Since this tooth is in lower jaw it might touch the other tooth on top. (I thought so after reading a few articles on net). I don't feel pain exactly in the tooth but it's kind of uncomfortable.
Avatar f tn I had a partial thyroid operation on the 24th january 2008, they found a benign cyst which rather largebut was successfully removed along with the left thyroid. the scar healed very well, but sometimes it feels as through the muscles tighten in my throat, its this an after effectof the operation.

Avatar m tn I have had a dental implant for approximately 1 1/2 yrs. now. I have never experienced any discomfort or pain from it. I had my teeth cleaned 3 weeks ago and the dental hygenist used metal instruments on the tooth. For 2 - weeks had a warm feeling in the jaw and soreness which I immediately reported to the dentist. I faithfully rinsed with salt and warm water and floss daily. The warm feeling has passed however I still have a soreness which almost feels like an air bubble is under the tooth.
Avatar f tn I had an operation at the end of March for a detached retina in my right eye which had been there for quite a while. Since the operation i still have wavy blurry vision. A couple of months later i started to get blurred vision in my left eye and was told it was just from a migraine but it was later discovered to be retinoschisis. They also said this was very strange because i am very short sighted.
