Avatar f tn I'm only 22. No insurance and no job. I live in a rural area with no means of transportation. I have had weird teeth ever since I was about 8 and would love to get my teeth worked on. I need cleaning; fillings in at least 4 teeth; 2 wisdom teeth pulled (one grew in with a cavity); missing a tooth so need a fake one; and braces to push back teeth, pull together teeth, and spread some apart. I think one tooth has even started spotting brown towards the back.
Avatar f tn You can go to a local dental school or contact your local dental society for a free clinic possibly. I think for California, medicaid doesn't cover dental anymore for adults so it may vary from state to state. It sounds like you have an abscess. Go to your primary care doctor and get a prescription for the infection to at least keep it under control while you find a dentist.
Avatar n tn Due to the new laws of insurance, I have been told that once I turn 21, my medi-cal will expire. Is this true ? Or does this no apply since my daughter will be under my case? I'm in california.
Avatar n tn It depends on the type of medical you have. And if its for pregnancy only no you cant be seen for either. Dentist visit don't cover cleanings but x rays yes after 21. As for optomitrist they only cover exams not lense and frames after 21. I just tried ding both last month and that's the information I got.
Avatar f tn The only thing I liked about covered California is it helps you pay for your monthly payment for insurance. Instead of like 450 for insurance we would end up paying 163. But that depends on what company and what insurance you get. Btw the medical takes a lot longer now to process thanks to the healthcare reform so I say apply on time. It took me 3mos to find out I was denied for medical and now its too late for me to be covered by anything on my due date.
Avatar f tn Hey everyone I have a long family history on moms side and dads side with severe dental issues. I understand if you have a toothache then go get it taken care of... But I've got about 80% of my teeth full of cavities, some holes are big. But I don't have tooth pain, no headaches, nothing. My teeth no way bother me. I feel like its worth to save my money now because no matter what, every person on both sides of my family got dentures before the age of 40.
Avatar n tn hi, i don't have any dental insurance so I need to pick and choose which tests and procedures at the dentist are really needed. I ask you this because I hope to find unbiased opinion. Last time I skipped the peridontal xray, but got the cavity xray and cleaning...he found 2 tiny cavities that ran me $400 out of my pocket but later a hygenist said maybe that wasn't necessary as the decay could have been reversed... So what do I "really" need..

1027870 tn?1252056250 yes you too can have a dental plan that most reputable dentists will not accept! i would love to go to a dental mill full of new, inexperienced dentists.
Avatar f tn Some insurance cover it some don't. Mine fortunately does. It usually cost 200 out of pocket.
Avatar n tn They said not to worry--not the dentist but an assistant. Then, I lost my dental insurance due to a bad accident and not being able to work. I kept good dental hygiene habits and rinsing with a commercial rinse that has H2O2 in it. But, my cheek seemed to slightly thicken, my discomfort spread to my jaw and a mild headache only on that side, with some mild swollen neck glands.
Avatar m tn Insurance cost us so much each month, we could not pay for our own dental needs and went years without a dental check-up. My teeth had no issues, so I continued to go about my life and now that I am on Medicare, I can once again afford dental visits. My first visit the dentist told me I have severe bone loss and they want to remove all my teeth and add bone grafts from a cadaver to my jaw line and fit me with dentures. This is totally shocking, as I have no issues with my teeth at all.
Avatar n tn On my first visit I had 3-cavitys filled. The cost after my insurance was $144. factor in the dental discount plan and my out of pocket cost was only $14!!! Check it out at http://www.dentaldiscountplans.org everyone is aproved! no exclusions! start right away! There is even a bonus code- DDP10 - that will get you an additional 10% off yearly dues. Let me know if you find providers that will accept both in your city.
1530342 tn?1405016490 The bill is the result of a compromise between dentists and the Alliance of Health Insurers, a coalition of nine major health insurance companies that handle dental claims, said bill sponsor Rep. Joan Ballweg, R-Markesan. Dentists shouldn't have to foot the bill for services that insurance won't cover and they shouldn't pass the costs on to other patients, she said. The bill brings Wisconsin in line with 30 other states that have adopted similar standards, Ballweg said.
Avatar n tn I am a resident of NY and I work in NY too. My husband (40 y/o,healthy)and I (40 y/o, healthy) are looking to get our health insurance coverage from next present. Right now we are on cobra GHI( extension from my previous work place) but they are asking me to change to EMPIRE PPO or EPO since they will not have GHI. I did not have dental and vision coverage previously but even if I want it they are saying they cannot add it. They are also asking for a one year committment.
Avatar f tn Does anyone living in california, have insurance that is not work related - that covers IVF. Blue Shield does not cover anything to do with infertility?

7530804 tn?1398546771 Has anyone moved out of state pregnant? I am 11 weeks tomorrow and my husband and I plan on moving a few days before Easter and I'm pretty nervous about finding a new Dr and all of what's involved. Has anyone gone through this? What do you have to do and is there anything I can do beforehand? I've looked up some things on google but just don't feel like it'll be as easy as signing up with a new lease or new ID, I don't know how long it will take to even have those.
Avatar f tn Yup you will be approved I also had health and dental already but was still approved, because I couldn't afford the copays of my primary insurance.
Avatar f tn However, I must say that I applied strictly for pregnancy medi-cal, I believe it would have taken longer if I would have applied for general medi-cal because there is a lot more paper work involved, with pregnancy (at least here in california) no one can be denied coverage for pregnancy. You can aquire a share of cost if you make too much money.
Avatar n tn A claim just ended against a dentist for a 4 tooth bridge that had NO occulusion ..I went the route of the California Dental Board Peer Review ....a nightmare of the first order....Lesson #1; the dentist does NOT have to tell the truth...as in a court of law...Lesson #2; The Peer Review Board ONLY goes by the dentists records and his buddies examinations (from his local dental association)...

Avatar m tn Hi. I'm hoping someone can help me understand a problem that's come up at my pharmacy. Last month I was waiting on a Prior Authorization for Fent. Patches with my insurance to go through, I'm always prescribed 4 BOXES PER MONTH, and I was dispensed 1 BOX of patches paid for with cash since it was my fill date but we were still waiting on the insurance process. I normally get 4 BOXES PER MONTH which comes out to approx.
