Common Questions and Answers about Dental insurance individual

insurance

Avatar n tn I am disabled on Original Medicare, have no intent to buy private insurance... I am wondering, is it possible for an individual to get real, stand alone dental insurance? Everything I've looked at caps yearly benefits at $1,000 or so which is completely insulting considering the premiums are close to half of that. Where can you buy dental insurance that gives you "REAL" coverage?
Avatar n tn I did some quick research on Assurant dental. It is NOT Insurance. It is a "savings plan". Any plan that advertises things like "no deductibles" no claim forms" no maximums" is NOT insurance. There are no deductibles, maximums, or claim forms because the "insurance" DOES NOT PAY ANYTHING TOWARDS YOUR CARE. It is basically a referral service whereby you are give a list of dentists who agree to accept very low fees on SOME (but in no way all) services.
620877 tn?1282764097 I should clarify that I was talking about individual disability income insurance. It is a private policy (that I would pay for out of my own pocket) that protects your income if you become disabled long term. Social security disability is the same thing, but that is a part of the goverment plan that we can access (hopefully) if we are disabled. There is also group disability policies that are offered by employers as a part of your benefits - medical, dental, etc.
Avatar n tn It is very rewarding, but I am having a great deal of trouble getting insurance. I wanted to get an individual policy, high deductible, with the physicians we use in the network. The problem is that I have a benign arrthymia known as PACs (premature atrial contractions). I have been assured by my internist and cariologist that there is no problem, and no treatment is required.
Avatar m tn I am so far a healthy 43 year old/m in pa. I am trying to decide which health insurance plan will be good for my situation and I am looking for some opinions here. This Month my group plan ends and I can take cobra but there is no financial benefit to taking my same PPO plan which gives me to price break for being unemployed. So I am trying to look at this at a meaningful way. Since my PPO was $475/m plue $29 dental I just cant be paying that on my own now.
Avatar f tn s not just cleaning like brightening your teeth and it actually may have been more. Though it was with my place of insurance (health) I do not have dental insurance, just medical. This was in MN. (not MX) Stuff is cheaper here but I don't feel safe do anything medical or dental here. Thanks for the list of possibilities. The only one I can rule out is pregnancy. I'll research the rest. Sorry, it took me so long to check back on this. Thanks Caliban!
1216952 tn?1283675247 I was sent for a consultation for the removal of the tooth and an estimate of what is going to be done was sent to my dental benefits insurance company. The estimate noted: Extract Erupt Tooth/Exposed root, Splinting - Extracoronal, Bone Graft and Resorbable Barrier. My insurance company will not pay for the Splinting - Extracoronal, Bone Graft and Resorbable Barrier.
Avatar f tn I have insurance but have an individual out of pocket of 4000.00 with 2500 deductible. Luckily my avonex only cost me 10.00 a month due to the fact the I qualify for patient assistance based on my income.
Avatar n tn hi, i don't have any dental insurance so I need to pick and choose which tests and procedures at the dentist are really needed. I ask you this because I hope to find unbiased opinion. Last time I skipped the peridontal xray, but got the cavity xray and cleaning...he found 2 tiny cavities that ran me $400 out of my pocket but later a hygenist said maybe that wasn't necessary as the decay could have been reversed... So what do I "really" need..
1027870 tn?1252056250 yes you too can have a dental plan that most reputable dentists will not accept! i would love to go to a dental mill full of new, inexperienced dentists.
763297 tn?1281379425 The man from the insurance company said that there is no individual plan that would cover fertily. It can get very expensive.
Avatar f tn I am awaiting official test results from my doctor. I currently have an individual health insurance plan. I was wondering if my insurance company can drop me? Thanks in advance for any info regarding insurance and herpes.
Avatar n tn I have dental insurance but as we all know the coverage has been less and less over the past few years so I looked into dental discount programs. Did you know that some dental providers will accept both insurance and a dental discount plan togeather? It took me about 5 phone calls but I know it was worth it. On my first visit I had 3-cavitys filled. The cost after my insurance was $144. factor in the dental discount plan and my out of pocket cost was only $14!!! Check it out at http://www.
Avatar n tn My husband (40 y/o,healthy)and I (40 y/o, healthy) are looking to get our health insurance coverage from next present. Right now we are on cobra GHI( extension from my previous work place) but they are asking me to change to EMPIRE PPO or EPO since they will not have GHI. I did not have dental and vision coverage previously but even if I want it they are saying they cannot add it. They are also asking for a one year committment.
Avatar f tn I am not sure at this point. On the individual explanation of benefits sheets, of which they included approximately 30, the ones dated in Feb. & March of 08 showed a discount that has been posted and then they show a total which is listed under patient responsibility.(it appears to be 50/50.) I have had 6 rounds of Rituxin, attempting to obliterate the Cryo. My last Cryo test showed that it was gone? Each session cost $19,631!!!!!
Avatar f tn What health insurance coverage/plan do you have? How much do you pay deductible and premium? Im so confuse about that. I'm 35 and planning family soon, but I'm so confused about this. thank ;you Just trying to get an idea.
387294 tn?1207620185 With this impact her chances to get health insurance on her own? Will it impact our ability to continue her insurance after the cobra period is over on our insurance?
Avatar n tn m having to juggle through insurance plans with different jobs, because it seems like private insurance is untouchable for me. Any help or advice would help.
Avatar f tn Ok mommys that have medicaid . Will I get denied if I already have dental insurance but not health insurance?
Avatar m tn Well, if its a bridge vs implant, then the implant would be the more expensive alternative due to the lack of insurance coverage. Unfortunately most policies with dental insurance don't cover dental implants. Still, a dental implant should last longer than a bridge and it would preserve #13 as well. As a long term investment, a dental implant is more ideal. It may cost more upfront but it should, in theory, last longer as well although no one can guarantee that.
398059 tn?1447945633 m trying to get Copaxone. I have an individual BCBS plan because my employer only offers dental ins. My maximum yearly prescription benefit is $2500 and as you probably know Copaxone will run about $2200/mo. I applied to NORD but I've heard they'll probably deny me. I wish I had a doctor that would help me in some way (making calls, writing letters, etc.) I'm feeling pretty helpless.
Avatar f tn Thanks alot for the reply. The crown is permanently fixed. Does this mean I have to have it removed & get a new one made to close the 'open margin'? I was thinking of having the 2 teeth (16 & 14) fitted with individual crowns & removing the long double crown I have now - which is covering the gap. Does it make dental sense to have individual crowns done & then getting braces fixed to close the gap?
Avatar m tn Hello, I can't remember the last time I was at the dentist but at the time the dentist said I had no cavities. Now I'm 21 and I have a cavity in on of my top molars. I don't know what to do, I don't have dental insurance and I really don't have the money to get it fixed. I don't want to wait any longer and have it get any worse but I don't have the extra arm and a leg the dentists charge.
Avatar m tn drill connet with dental handpiece, then let drill twirl. But when drill stop work in mouth, some saliva and blood will inside dental handpiece, it can pass to next person when next person useļ¼‰, but i remembered dentist did not change dental handpiece for me, only changeed drill. I went back the small clinic, asked dentist, he said did not change dental handpiece for every person, and he told me, all clinics do not change, and told me do not worry, it is safe, very sure.
Avatar f tn Does anyone have individual health insurance (not with an employer) that covers ANY part of infertility? I mean meds, IUI or IVF. Thanks!
Avatar f tn Hey Sarah I too am a college student looking for health insurance, I was curios to know what you chose and what worked for you. Also did you add dental to your health insurance, I cant find many quotes with both to know how much together they would cost.
Avatar m tn I am short of $ and my out of pocket expenses on this is almost a thousand. I exhausted the $1500 from my insurance just for this tooth. Having some more problems with the crown down the road I do not want to have. If you can give me an advise on my situation I really appreciate it. I never had any major probs on my teeth except today.
