Dental insurance codes

Common Questions and Answers about Dental insurance codes

insurance

Avatar f tn The codes are for insurance company purposes. If you're paying for this yourself without insurance the codes don't mean anything anyway -- the charge is the charge for the service rendered. Generally, psychiatrists charge a set fee in non-insurance situations depending on the length of the visit.
Avatar f tn I should probably stop here as I tend to carry on talking about insurance codes and the though of dental health being secondary to overall health.
Avatar m tn Is it legal for a medical insurance company to change the types of procedures a providers does and submits when they pay the claim? In other words can an insurance company legally change 7 lab tests to 7 unspecified medical visits when paying the provider. By doing this they paid the provider more than would have been paid under the actual work done, resulting in higher copays.
Avatar f tn i have blue cross blue shield, and wow have they been good to me!! they covered all the tests i've had to do, including the HSG, sonohystergram(had it done twice), all ultrasounds, bloodwork, injections, etc. nothing major was found and they classified me as a "pre-existing condition" where my uterine lining doesnt sluth off after my peroid. so my question is how come they wont cover the iui's? has anyone's insurance covered this?
Avatar f tn I never called my insurance company about it but claims were filed with codes that indicated it. From 8 weeks on, I had ob codes of pregnancy. The hospital for delivery is basically whatever hospital coverage you have usually. Look at your forms from when you last enrolled . . . or go online to your benefits department. You can find what your insurance coverage is.
Avatar f tn I wonder if you agree with me that ICD-9 codes 070.2 , 0703, 07042,07052 for Hep B and 070.41, 070.44,07051,070 54 for hepatitis C are the only ones that purely specify these infections. At this stage, the estimations are not going to be done. Also, I need to say that I have yet to see the literature on this.
Avatar f tn Don't be concerned about the diagnosis codes. As I understand it they are there for insurance purposes. You'll find, as you go through this process, those codes go all over the map. Good luck today!
Avatar m tn s my understanding. If its a medical emergency they may cover some of it. Dental insurance and medical insurance are billed differently with different codes, etc. If its something significant and cost is an issue, extraction may be the only option. You can ask the dental school if they know of any free clinics that may provide care. You can also contact your local dental society.
306867 tn?1299249709 If you ever need to have any kind of surgery or major procedure again, make sure that you have the doc put as many ICD-9 codes (reasons/insurance codes) down ahead of time. (e.g. You have chronic headaches.....Ask the doc to put in for everything from Rule out, chronic migraine, hyperstension induced HA, visually induced HA, brain infarction and/or tumor, electolyte imbalance, brain worms, hates her job....).just to cover your Arse if treatments for any of them are required.
Avatar n tn hi, i don't have any dental insurance so I need to pick and choose which tests and procedures at the dentist are really needed. I ask you this because I hope to find unbiased opinion. Last time I skipped the peridontal xray, but got the cavity xray and cleaning...he found 2 tiny cavities that ran me $400 out of my pocket but later a hygenist said maybe that wasn't necessary as the decay could have been reversed... So what do I "really" need..
1027870 tn?1252056250 yes you too can have a dental plan that most reputable dentists will not accept! i would love to go to a dental mill full of new, inexperienced dentists.
1722607 tn?1335747858 Do most insurance companies cover the cost of treatment? I have Care First Blue Cross. Anyone out there have the same insurance?
4046955 tn?1349289214 Hello, I am 26 years old and I am having trouble getting dissability. My DX is Dysautonomia (multi-system: heart: POTS, pacemaker: dual chamber, syncope, stomach: dumping syndrome & psuedo blockage of small intestine, heat/cold intolerance) which was diagnosed 9 years ago at Mayo Clinic in MN.
19413498 tn?1477669741 Yes. Insurance companies determine how much they pay and what they pay by codes that include diagnosis. This information is required by law to be kept private, so unless you tell someone they shouldn't know.
Avatar f tn I have been to a psychiatrist and I can not understand how he is billing me. The codes he gives in the invoice are 99214 and 90838. I looked them up and the second codes says 60 mins of psychotherapy. However I never see him for that long. He is always late and today I saw him for probably 30 mins. Has anyone else had this problem? And how can he charge me for more time?
Avatar n tn I have dental insurance but as we all know the coverage has been less and less over the past few years so I looked into dental discount programs. Did you know that some dental providers will accept both insurance and a dental discount plan togeather? It took me about 5 phone calls but I know it was worth it. On my first visit I had 3-cavitys filled. The cost after my insurance was $144. factor in the dental discount plan and my out of pocket cost was only $14!!! Check it out at http://www.
Avatar f tn I had a HSG done 4 yrs ago (6 mo after an ectopic) (to ensure the patency of my undamaged tube) and my insurance covered all of it. (highmark bluecross) 4 months after that I got pregnant with DD. Now DH and I have been TTC for 20 months without any luck. I'm wondering if the HSG helped things along last time (I was told the test was normal except for no left tube r/t the ectopic damage) I see my obgyn in nov. Does anyone know if my insurance is likely to cover a repeat HSG?
Avatar n tn My husband (40 y/o,healthy)and I (40 y/o, healthy) are looking to get our health insurance coverage from next present. Right now we are on cobra GHI( extension from my previous work place) but they are asking me to change to EMPIRE PPO or EPO since they will not have GHI. I did not have dental and vision coverage previously but even if I want it they are saying they cannot add it. They are also asking for a one year committment.
Avatar n tn Should I send a letter of explanation to my insurance company for an evaluation done at Columbia University? I had to pay $4,000 out of pocket for my evaluation and need to get reimbursed by my insurance. I'm wondering if it would be better just to send in the "bare bones," i.e., receipts and medical claim form without any explanation? I don't want to give them any reason to deny me....Any thoughts?
Avatar n tn I am disabled on Original Medicare, have no intent to buy private insurance... I am wondering, is it possible for an individual to get real, stand alone dental insurance? Everything I've looked at caps yearly benefits at $1,000 or so which is completely insulting considering the premiums are close to half of that. Where can you buy dental insurance that gives you "REAL" coverage?
1931218 tn?1323225877 It depends on your doctor, not insurance. Insurance will pay for any the doctor codes as medically necessary. Most healthy women only get one or two sonograms.
Avatar f tn re as close to the coast as we are, the insurance company requires us to carry Wind-Insurance, Hurricane-Insurance, AND Flood-Insurance. Further down the road, and we could ditch the Wind-Storm Insurance, but there you go. Location, location, location. So why on earth don't insurance companies in "Tornado Alley" REQUIRE builders to install hardened, reinforced, concrete, cinder-block, shelters in all homes?
Avatar m tn i called my nurse to get info on the new hep c vaccine incivek,. she informed me to contact her in December which seems like a life time, by then my insurance should cover it & i'll just pay the co-pay,. would it be easier to contact my carrier myself ..............
