Common Questions and Answers about Delay period norethisterone

period

Avatar n tn Hi there, If you are not on any contraceptive pill, you will need to take 5 mg of Norethisterone three times a day to delay your period starting 3 days before your period is due. After you stop taking Norethisterone you will have your period within 2 - 3 days. So you may stop taking it accordingly. It is very important that you consult a doctor so that it is known that this medicine is appropriate for you. Take care and regards!
Avatar m tn Is there anything I can take to delay my period (I do not want to go on birth control). Is norethisterone common in the U.S? If so, how would I go about getting it.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have PCOS and my periods are irregular but I do get them every 35-42 days, I am going on holiday at the end of the month and want to postpone my period until I get home. Does anyone know if there is anything that can help as i cant use contraception as my consultant has advised me not to use this what so ever because i have bad reactions to it. I know Norethisterone can help but i am not sure if you can use it for this reason with PCOS.
Avatar m tn Hello, You can postpone your periods by taking norethisterone which is often used to postpone a period. The dose is 5mg three times a day starting 3-4 days before a period is due. It can be continued for up to 2 weeks or so until you want to have a period. But it is advisable to use this drug only after a doctor’s prescription. It is not to be taken without a medical supervision.
Avatar m tn Utovlan is the branded version manufactured by Pfizer which contains the active ingredient norethisterone used to delay period. Norethisterone tablets are also available under their own generic name. Both of them are medically identical and contain a synthetic version of the female hormone progesterone which naturally occurs in the body and sustains the lining of the womb. When the level of progesterone falls normally at the time of a period, this lining is shed as a menstrual period.
Avatar m tn Hello, To delay periods you have to take progesterone only pills like Norethisterone. It is usually started two- three days before a period is due and then taken for the next seven days and then stopped, when normal vaginal bleeding will take place. You can talk to your gynecologist and get it prescribed as it is better to take it under medical supervision.
Avatar f tn The contraceptive noriday is norethisterone 0.35g once a day. The official line is norethisterone for period delay does not stop you getting pregnant, but I don't understand whether this is just to stop people using it as a contraceptive or wether there's some different effect due to the dose. Does anyone know wether you can actually get pregnant or not while taking norethisterone for period delay? There's nothing online that explains this.
Avatar n tn In the last 2 months I think I played with my period a bit too much. I took the Norethisterone to delay my period of about a week at the end of March and got my period 3 days after I ve stopped taking the tablet, so the 27th of March. I had unprotected sex the 3rd of April and took the morning after pill 4 hours later. I am still waiting for my period to come and did a test that resulted negative. When should I expect my period then?
Avatar m tn I'm currently taking the contraceptive pill Microgynon 30. I'm wondering if it is safe to take norethisterone (three 5mg a day) on my pill free break and if not, why?.. And will this mess with my cycle? I have tried running pill packs together to delay my period in the past which did not work, I got break through bleeding and cramping. I will be using alternative birth control during this week. Any answers would be highly appreciated. Thank you.
Avatar f tn but I think I may have my period sometime that week and I really need to delay it! I heard about this drug Norethisterone, that an OB/GYN can prescribe, and it can potentially delay your period. I am seeing an OB/GYN for the first time tomorrow and I wanted to ask her if she could prescribe me Norethisterone, but what should I say? And what is the likelihood she will prescribe me this medicine, considering my age?

Now I need to delay my period for about 10 days. my doctor prescribed duphaston again, but the problem is that my cycle was anovulatory as my ovum turned into a cyst.

Avatar m tn Hello, So I am on norethisterone .35mg one pill a day and I really need to delay it. Does anyone know if I was to double up on my pills will it delay my period? Or does anyone know what will help.
Avatar f tn I'm supposed to get it for my entire trip! I really would like to avoid this and I know it's possible to delay my period by just taking my next round of pills before my period arrives but I'm currently not on pills! I have an appointment soon and I'm wondering, if I start a pack in the middle of my cycle, will that delay my period until after my trip even tho this'll be my first pack for starting the system??
Avatar f tn There are 2 options. Going on the contraceptive pill leading up to the holiday, and then not skipping a week of your pill for the time when you would due your holiday. That, or use tampons and that way you can still go in water and wear bikinis etc. Maybe something to talk to your mum about and see what she suggests.
Avatar f tn How have you used Norethindrone to delay your period? My dr. has giving me a prescription of Norethindrone 5mg once a day due to heavy periods and needing to change my cycle just for the month of May. She really gave me no direction and is not one to return my calls quickly but I have reached out to her and will use her direction regarding any advice I receive here. I am due to start my period on the 14th. I leave for vacation on the 17th.

Avatar f tn Hi I'm going on holiday in about 4 weeks time and my period will be due at the same time. I know I can take primolut n to delay my period, but after reading about the side effects it sounds like I might have Pms-like symptoms while I'm taking it, so i dont really wanna be moody, bloated with pimples on holiday either. Does anyone know if once the period I'm on now finishes I could take the primolut n tabs for about a week or so, would this bring my period on early?
Avatar f tn So, I want to delay my period for April because I am going on vacation. I just started taking my birth control again this month. I was off of it for two months. To delay it, during the week in April I should get my period I skip the placebo pills and start taking a new pack of pills correct? Is this method very effective? I have heard it was, but I just want to hear of peoples personal experiences.

Avatar f tn long story short i am going on vacation this week. so, i wanted to skip my period or delay it whichever. so instead of taking my placebo pills starting yesterday I just went right into a new pack of pills. this morning I got my period or something like it. like its more brownish like how it would be at the end of your period and its pretty light. Will it just be light like this for the rest of the week or will it just eventually go away with me continuing to take the pill.
Avatar m tn Hello, Norethisetrone is often used in delaying the periods but it is also used in treatment of menorrhagia (heavy periods). A high dose of oral norethisterone can stop bleeding in 24 to 48 hours and hence can stop bleeding. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
