Give yourself time to grieve and try to think how happy you must have made Ralphie in the time he had with you. That's all you can do, besides pledging to love some more little furry souls that need you... the best way to heal is to keep doing what you're doing, even if you have to stop and take a breath and shed some tears.
Avatar f tn In that time, he’s had a major surgery, lost his grandmother, lost his job, and a few days ago, a close friend of his died unexpectedly. This most recent death has been pretty hard on him…he had known this friend since high school, so almost 20 years. Even though they had not seen each other recently or hung out much, they did keep in touch. The funeral was yesterday, but my boyfriend has been pretty quiet since it happened, which is to be expected.

335728 tn?1331414412 Well, my husband and I got some really shocking news over the weekend which culminated in the death of a close childhood friend last night. He grew up with my husband in Newfoundland. He had a wife and two children and what was so shocking was that he tried to take his own life. We heard that he was in a coma because he had not succeeded but we didn't know the situation until today. Apparently he had diabetes and no one knew it!
424839 tn?1268186246 Every single act and thought plays a role in shaping our existence, in both life and death. The law of causality permeates and molds the great eternal flow of cosmic life. What, then, are the practical implications of this philosophy? How should it affect our conduct and our outlook? In the first place it provides us with the courage to challenge both life and death.
916131 tn?1318681712 You and I will never be the same. Death has a cruel way of changing us a human being, but we are also survivers and will be able to handle anything that comes our way. It's going to be ok, but one day at a time and one step at a time...

Avatar n tn my daughter was with her best friend when he was hit by a car and died. she was hysterical on the day and also when i said he had died.since then she has shown no emotion even when we went to the chapel of rest to see him.the funeral is this week and i dont know how she is going to be,im worried because she isnt more upset or is this just her way of dealing with this. we do speak to her about it and speak about her friend but she seems to show no emotion at all.
Avatar f tn It's more of a comment than a question. I succesfully did a 6 months anxiety therapy which worked perfectly for my worst symptoms; PVCs. And 4 days ago, all of the sudden one of my dearest friends died, aged 39. I don't need to tell you wath and how i felt. PVC's went balistic, i couldn't stay thruout the funeral because i thought my heart will explode. I went to my cardio who did and ECG, timing was perfect since heart was firing dozens of PVCs so he caught them.
1056589 tn?1273747102 I have a book that was written by a Buddhist nun, Pema Chodron, "When Things Fall Apart". I've read it many times and have found some peace of mind in her gentle way of getting people to look at things in a new way. I think I'd better read it again as my attitude has been lousy lately. Thanks, Charley.

Avatar f tn But in addition to the instant euphoria, I had also found a cure for my emotional problems, which I would learn in a few years were actually a combination of depressive and anxiety disorders. But the alcohol especially made me feel normal. As the years have passed, I have been through periods of sobriety usually increasing in length, but also horrible relapses which would be worse every time.
630047 tn?1289248521 m so excited I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think its the excitement only a free man can feel. A free man, at the start of a long journey, whose conclusion is uncertain. I hope I can make it across the border. I hope I can see my friend and shake his hand. I hope that Pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams. I hope...
Avatar n tn A friend of mine told us recently that she has lyme disease. We were all kind of worried about her, but then she started claiming some really strange stuff that we're pretty sure isn't true. She says that she's the first person ever diagnosed with lyme disease in the state of texas, and that the doctor said she will probbaly die within 5 years. We were all wondering if this is true, or if maybe something is fishy as it seems.

139792 tn?1498585650 Hi, Dalubaba, The depth of the friendships we find in this community is amazing -- it sounds like you two had a very close relationship! I can understand why you're so concerned. Sometimes a member's family members send a PM or post in the forums to let us know what's happening; otherwise, just like you, we have no way of knowing about our members' personal matters.
460591 tn?1207150799 Things like little fortunes...or like horoscopes...or something? I try to read a page out of the "Tao Te Ching". This is the book that the guy from "A Million Little Pieces" read. That's where I heard of it. I feel like I appreciate it so much more being a recovering addict. I apply the page I read to my everyday life and it just fits. It's the type of thing you can shape to your life no matter what you are going through. Maybe some of you should check it out.
