I use chaptick 24/7 if I don't my lips and the side of my lips where the dark spot are located gets really dry. The black spots sometimes Burns really bad .
when i asked my dematologist for the blood check up so i can know whether it is some other reason or not she refused for that. please help me what to do and what could be the reason for the lips getting pink and rest part dark brown.and yes the difference of the colour looks more in dark room and less in light. please help!!!

Im a 17 year old asian male with dark lips. I was born with lighter lips but i have neglected them when i was younger. I have always peeled and ate the skin of my lips (I know disgusting lol) when i was younger and they were chapped. Everytime i went to the dentists, when i'd have my teeth pulled and they used anesthesia i'd take very hot water and test on my lips to see how i can not feel the pain. I never really cared about my lips from about 5 years old to 13.
I smoke with 6 friends, when I went back home I realised my lips have a cut and it’s chapped, the environment was so dark that I can’t see the cigarette was with blood, if my friend has a bleeding lip and there was blood on the cigarette, is it possible that he will transmit hiv to me? There was a 5seconds interval before cigarette was passed to me. And I took about 10 puffs.
She asked for a drag of the smoke and gave it to her then put it out. She said relax I dont have herpes. A few minutes later being very intoxicatd I lit a cigerette and again she took it and took a drag. I took one short puff after her and put it out. I didn't notice anything on her lips but she was wearing red lipstick and it was fairly dark so I can't say for certain.
I am a 22 year old female who for the last couple of years have suffered with darkening of lips. I suffer from eczema so i dont know if this is a contributory factor but i have periods where my lip darkens and but then goes away, only this time the lips is getting more pigmented and shows no signs of getting better. Please Please help me ive cried over this so many times because no seems to have an answer for it and its really starting to affect my confidence. Thank you so much for your time.

Given your history of non smoking, the only possibility that is coming to my mind is of a venous lake. It is a dark blue compressible papule caused by dilation of venules and lips are very commonly affected. Treatment is by cryosurgery, electrosurgery, sclerotherapy, excision and laser treatment. Please discuss these options with a cosmetologist in detail.

I have peeling lips on the outside and inside. I also get a sore on the inside of my nose which comes back all the time. I saw an ENT dr, my dermatologist, my internist, and none can figure out what it is. I use vaseline on my lips and chapstick and even some lipsticks make it worse. No one can figure out what causes this. I think it is something in the ingredients of lipstick or toothpaste. Anybody else have these? Thanks, KYkitty.
Two weeks ago I had to give a report in front of a big audience and I was totally stressed out and nervous about it, the next day I woke up and had little blisters, maybe the size of a pin point on my lips. I couldn't see them really, but I could feel them. Then last night I had another really stressful stituation and the same thing happened. I woke up with these teeny, tiny blisters all over my lips. The hurt more then anything else. I have never had anything like this before.
Rare but serious causes of dark spots on lips are oral melnaotic macules and Peutz Jegher ‘s syndrome .Keep your lips well hydrated. Apply lemon juice mixed with glycerine.Cutting down on tea, coffee and quitting smoking may help. If it persists consult a dermatologist. He may suggest appropriate treatment. I hope it helps.

Thank you so much for the reply! The dark spot itself is gone ... but my lips get painfully dry and flaky still. So, I will definitely try taking Vitamin B complex. I stopped taking multivits but I can get back into that as well.
I also read somewhere that it could be from hormonal changes & around the time the dark spot cropped up I had started taking birth control again ... might that have been a cause as well?
I started using Vaseline earlier in the week & that has really helped!
What can cause a dark spot on the lips, as if there was a concentration of blood beneath the surface? There is no actual bleeding, and no sensations whatsoever. The skin is otherwise normal, no blister or anything. The lips are a normal color, aside from the one darker area.

I starded lickin my lips when i was small they starded getting chapped then the chaped lips took off but then i got a dark ring around it and its embarrassing it looks like a mustache buht not that dark how can I take this off im 14?.......help please would a laser treatment work? s lip balm with SPF 15 to help protect your lips from direct heat and UV. Other lip balm or lip moisturizers with SPF may also help. There is no definite treatment for dark lips although micropigmentation which is used to apply permanent colors on the lips, eyes and eye brows may be used to bring color to the lips. This is more extensive and entails more risks but may give more dramatic and long lasting results.
can you tell me if the vitamin E cream has helped you in the long run and if the dark skin in and around the corner of the lips has disappeared ? My son last July got thèse cold sores for the first time on his lips right after a conjunctivitis and healed from it but just few weeks later we had to travel to India and it turned more darker and visible...as if He was having a moustache ...guess that list the hot weather that have accelerated the darkness...
