smoking

Avatar f tn I think its both positive and negative. It teaches the kids the dangers of smoking/second hand smoke and the problems it can cause as well as the result od death. As for the negative, the kids with the smoking patents are now worrying about losing their parent(s) due to the day care. Im an ex smoker myself.
Avatar f tn Hi. I'm just curious in people's opinions of something. I am an ex smoker. No longer have the habit. My child's daycare have been taught that smoking kills people etc.. so move away from people if they're smoking. A lot of parents from the daycare have come in abusing the child care Centre as they're smokers and there young children keep telling them they're going to die.
Avatar f tn Why risk something that has been scientifically proven to affect an unborn fetus? Science was a whole lot different for our parent's generation, scientist know so much more about the dangers of smoking than before. I just couldn't see myself taking chances like that knowing as many negative stories about it.
Avatar n tn i think you already know that its a very good chance every article i pulled up said as huge as it could do not get pregnant severe birth defects and you have to meet the iPLEDGE requirements so i'm sure you've been advised many times of the dangers of getting pregnant while taking this drug even for a short time but if you need to look it up again and talk to your doctor good luck

Avatar f tn So i'm 12 weeks and after smoking roughly 10-15 cigarettes a day before I got pregnant, i'm down to one or two a day. I was told that quitting cold turky would be worse for my baby (especially dealing with depression and anxiety) so even though I've cut down and plan on quitting some time this week, could there be any significant damage done to my baby? I'm really worried and wish I just would have quit when I first found out..

They should never discontinue their medication discussing it first. "In cases such as diabetes, hypertension, or asthma, patients can become very sick without their medication," says Dr. Lund.
Avatar n tn I am also cutting back drastically each day until my quit day to try to help the withdrawl to be easier and im going to check with my doctor on the effects of withdrawal on the fetus before I quit. I want to do this safely, but surely quit for good! Any advice from previous smokers that would help me kick the habit?
Avatar f tn This may be a good opportunity to start educating your 2 year old on the dangers of cigarette smoking. Teach him not to ever pick them up, especially when he’s older and others around him may be smoking.
Avatar f tn i have been reading up on detoxing and the dangers this could have on my fetus. yesterday i used a small dose of sub, i usually only need a small sliver from my 8mg strip to ward off withdrawls, and today i took about the same amount. i hope to be able to taper down to nothing by only taking the suboxone when i feel the withdrawls coming on. So what i want to know is, i guess how safe this will be for my baby. i would like to be drug and sub free in less than two weeks.

Avatar n tn you have to be proud of yourself for not smoking! and all will change for you! just don't beat yourself up for it and don't feel guilty. you really have to want to be smoke free, and feel freedom without them, you have to stop feeling scared when you know that you can't smoke, and really you have to feel proud, and it will be easier for you not to smoke ever again. You know that smoking is bad for you, and is bad for your LO....so just get rid of it!
Avatar n tn re most likely laid up, I would like to suggest a website called whyquit.com. While your recovering, you can educate yourself on the dangers of smoking. You are very young and quitting now will be a lot easier than 10 or 20 years from now. To answer your question simply though; YES, one or two cigs a day will hurt you! Good Luck! :) --- 3m 4d 16:55 smoke-free, 1,433 cigs not smoked, $394.
Avatar f tn Ok, recently found out I was 6w4days. I'm a normal smoker.. my doctor told me not to quit right away because the baby is already addicted to it and that I can wien myself off or cut way back. I've never heard of the fetus or anything of that sort being addicted to nicotine this early.. is my doctor a quack or is he really right?
Avatar f tn Amen!!!!thankyou for putting this on here!im sick to death of women making excuses for smoking while being pregnant! I smoked for 16 years and tried everything to give up but failed each n every time but the moment I found out I was pregnant with my first baby I stopped cold turkey there n then. The guilt of what smoking could do to my baby was too much! My sister smoked through her whole pregnancy and it made me sick to my stomach for her baby. There is no excuse.
Avatar m tn My mom smoked with me and I was 4 weeks early, have asthma, chronic ear infections, and weighed less than 5lbs. I actually did a research paper on the affects of smoking and pregnancy and while some babies may experience minimal affects or some moms might "think" their babies are completely healthy; what they don't realize is that the asthma or allergies their child has is related to smoking while pregnant.
Avatar n tn i am a 16 year old diabetic type 1 who would like to know the dangers of smoking cannabis?
Avatar n tn m 11 weeks tomorrow and I have sever anxiety I will be honest before I found out I was pregnant I was smoking marijuana to deal with it I have always kinda been against and scared of prescription so marijuana worked for me well I stopped smoking when I found out I was pregnant and I have had 3 full blown panic attacks in the last 2 days and I have done research that say that is very bad for my baby but it also says that prescribed meds could be extremely harmful to my baby also I'm close to

Avatar f tn So, here I am, for the probably 4th time tapering off a 8-10/day hydro habit. I am wondering...is this anything like quitting smoking? I smoked for 23 years, and could not imagine life without my "best friends", my cigarettes. I mean...what would I do when the phone rang, when I got in the car, after I was done eating, when I went out, sat next to the pool, etc etc. I remember thinking how will I EVER ENJOY life again without my cigarettes.
Avatar f tn If you are pregnant it is good that you stopped smoking weed. Not only is the action of smoking itself is detrimental to the health of the baby, but we do not know how cannabis intake can affect the developing brain. If you were using it for nausea, you may have hyperemesis gravidarum, a condition that causes excessive nausea and vomiting during early stages of pregnancy.
