Avatar n tn Thank you for the advice. I have been able to control my dandruff using salicyclic acid shampoos but the flaky condition on the skin is still a problem . Once I take those strong steroids the condition subsides but as soon as Im done with it it reappears later again. How do I keep this condition under control . Is it a temporary or a permanent problem?
Avatar n tn Help... my son is 6 and has mild asthma which is under control... problem after he has any illness ( flu, fever etc) his scalp breaks out with very itchy bumps under the skin which he then scratches and they become horrible scabs. They are small but annoying. I took him to doctor thinking headlice or something but doc said no, these are caused by fatigue and prescribed nizoral shampoo. Has anyone ever heard of this or have any suggestions. He has no allergies that we are aware of.
Avatar n tn then i started to develop light dandruff (white, very little grains) and seem not to manage to get it under control with normal dandruff shampoos etc. while googling dandruff i read that dandruff (but i assume heavy) can be a sign of hiv infection. then i started reading about scary high aids rates in portugal. especially as most new infections here come from hetero sexual encounters.
Avatar n tn coal-tar preparations (Neutrogena T/Gel, Tegrin) ; Pyrithione zinc (Suave Dandruff Control, Pert Plus Dandruff Control, Head & Shoulders) ; Salicylic acid and sulfur (T-Sal, lonil T, Sebulex) ; Selenium sulfide (Selsun, Exsel); and Ketoconazole (Nizoral A-D). (ref: http://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/understanding-dandruff-treatment)If these do not help, you may need stronger prescription shampoo from your doctor. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn I have had the exact same symptoms for years... no itching, just dry flakey skin under my goatee. I used dandruff shampoo to combat the situation to no avail. I did switch to Tea Tree shampoo and it is more comfortable, but still had flakes. I found that my problem was caused by improper drying after bathing. The hard, mineral saturated water would sit in my goatee for quite a while after showering, especially if I was in a hurry, and would soften and dry out my skin.

Avatar m tn I've always had issues with Dry Scalp and Dandruff, particularly during the winter. Over the past couple years, I've also developed some sort of scalp sores that when picked at tend to bleed. They seem to continually come back. I've tried a number of shampoos - Head and Shoulders, Nizoral, Aveda Pureformance, T/Gel, American Crew, etc. with varying results.
Avatar f tn Oils with camphor and similar products that control itching are available. Otherwise, it can also be due to dandruff. This can be treated by shampoos and tablets under supervision of a skin specialist. Nerve compression in the upper cervical vertebra too can be the cause. Take care!
4244557 tn?1371701336 Pre pregnancy I had some issues with dandruff which I learned to control with products that actually worked for me personally but now during pregnancy my dandruff has gotten out of hand and I can't seem to get my scalp moisturized good enough to fix the problem which is making me insecure. I really want to go get my hair cut but I'm afraid of what the stylist will think or say or react.
Avatar m tn I should mention that my mother suffers from a Candida Albicans overgrowth and I exhibit some of the signs of a similar infection at times. I crave carbs, I have dandruff that is hard to control, and in recent years any little scrape against my skin can turn into a puffy mark for an hour or so. Over the last week and a half I have also been eating a low/zero carb diet and taking herbal remedies to fight any possible candida overgrowth but the penis "rash" or whatever it is persists.
Avatar n tn instead the shampoos made my hair loss worse and gave me dandruff. I started experiencing severe burning sensation on my scalp. It felt like someone is pouring acid on it. It even felt painful to move my hair in any direction. It was so excruciating I ended up in the urgent care twice. They ran a bunch of thyroid and hormonal tests which came back fine.
Avatar n tn The spots are not scaly. Whenever he applies a dandruff shampoo to it, it eases and goes away. He has been told that it is the dandruff that has run down to his face.Others say that it is his high alcohol consumption which is in correlation to some liver disorder. The spots tend to look like ring worm but not exactly. When the weather becomes cool, it also surfaces. What do you think this condition sounds like?
Avatar m tn I had the same problem for years, until i was able to afford insurance.i was told by my doctor i had "dermatitis".there's differant kinds so you might want to look on line and see what symptoms best fits your problem.dermatitis causes severe itch, dandruff, and under the dandruff there's a rash.I'm no doctor but i think this info well help.i found it helpful to use shampoos that treat dermatitis.sence there's no cures.hope this info helps.
