Avatar n tn It seems to me every time I am due for my period (or after it) I develop dandruff on my skin. Is this hormonally linked?
17551709 tn?1457744886 I have had dandruff for years. I tried washing my hair with different shampoos, tried washing my hair multiple times per day and even tried several different anti-dandruff shampoos without success. Now I'm going to start using home remedies like apple cider vinegar.

Avatar m tn I've always had issues with Dry Scalp and Dandruff, particularly during the winter. Over the past couple years, I've also developed some sort of scalp sores that when picked at tend to bleed. They seem to continually come back. I've tried a number of shampoos - Head and Shoulders, Nizoral, Aveda Pureformance, T/Gel, American Crew, etc. with varying results.
4315059 tn?1352675085 I took the pills as I should but was not told to go on probiotics. Soon after I got a massive fungal rash on my back, and got bad dandruff. Later, I noticed that I had what seemed to be "ear dandruff", and my ear was sometimes itchy. After months of tryin I finally got rid of the rash on my back, but the dandruff has persisted for years. Now I have had a painful earache went to the hospital emergency room one evening. I was prescribed an antibiotic suspension for my ear.
Avatar n tn Topical terbinafine solution (1%) has also been shown to be effective in the treatment of scalp seborrhoea,as may lotions containing alpha hydroxy acids or corticosteroids (such as fluocinolone acetonide). Pimecrolimus topical lotion is also sometimes prescribed. It would be advisable to consult a skin specialist for his symptoms and a proper clinical examination if the symptoms persist. Let us know if you need any other information and post us on how you are doing. Regards.
Avatar n tn I have been seeing white things in their hair but they easily brush off. It seems like dandruff. This is all located around the ear area. Do I need to worry? I also constantly worry that I have lice..my head is itchy but I also only see what appears to be dandruff.
Avatar f tn It sounds like you have dandruff- which the selsun blue shampoo should help, but sometimes it can be resistant to anti-dandruff shampoos for various reasons. You could try some other brands (such as head and shoulders) or you could try some home remedies- lemon juice or apple cider vinegar. If that doesn't work, you may want to head back to your doctor to see if the flakes are indications of another medical condition- it could be something like eczema.
Avatar f tn Try using some Apple Cidar Vinegar topically. Just pour some in a cup and use a cotton ball or makeup pad to soak it up and spread on the scalp.
Avatar f tn Around 7 years ago, I idiotically used neat apple cider vinegar on my scalp as therapy for dandruff without diluting it. Caused burning, irritation and have had issues with scalp flaking ever since. Have tried lanolin, desitin cream, QV jelly, Vaseline but it is stubborn and does not heal. Thick flakes form which peel off to reveal weeping red itchy skin and the cycle repeats. Any advice to treat definitively and achieve regrowth of epidermis would be much appreciated.
Avatar f tn I do not have a greasy scalp, dandruff, or head lice . I need help with the itching. I, too, have tried different shampoos, including those with tea tree oil in them and others for so-called dry, itchy scalp-but it's usually for dandruff users. I was hoping some one could recommend something for relief until I can see a dermatologist in November; for another issue.
Avatar f tn I have constant dry scalp. It does not flake like Dandruff. I get sore spots all over especiallly along hair line. I had it bad a few years ago, then it got better. It just never cleared up. It hurts to even brush my hair. It has made my hair so dry that I cannot even style it anymore. It feels good after first washing it, but then it starts all over again. It itches too.
Avatar f tn If your scalp is extremely oily, you can control that just by doing a vinegar-water rinse at the end. Probably a tablespoon of vinegar in a basin of rinse water will help your hair look thick and fluffy and not oily.
Avatar f tn Hello. I'm a 20 year old male and during the fall season of 2012 my scalp started really iching and my hair started to shed severely around the crown region. During this time I also had dandruff. This itchyness and dandruff persisted for about another 3 months, that's when I jumped on Nizoral 1%. It stopped the dandruff and the itching, but till this day I'm shedding and its very noticable. My hairloss started at the crown and has worked its way up to my hairline.
4268628 tn?1375041176 But yea it happens bc of the hormones, before my outbreak now it had been 10 years since my last one. And I had very bad dandruff to, nothing worked for it. Thank god this has gone away in my second trimester.
Avatar f tn That was last year and it feels like it’s back this time I feel it almost paralyzing and going directly for my veins in arms and legs. Tried baking soda, flea and dandruff shampoo, listerine, peroxide , apple cider vinegar , cayenne pepper (Burns like a B*tch) aloe Vera, and cloves but I want them gone. Is it an actual possibility to remove this completely or just subdue....? Would like to hear your thoughts.
Avatar n tn Hi, The best way to treat dandruff is to use a dandruff shampoo. Look for shampoos with ingredients such as zinc pyrithone, salicyclic acid, coal tar, selenium silfide, or ketoconazole. All of these ingredients have been shown to work on dandruff; to use the shampoo, apply it to your scalp and hair, rub vigorously, and allow it to sit for five minutes so that the ingredients can work before rinsing it out.
Avatar f tn Hi there! I hope someone out there can offer some insight. I have an almost 7-year-old Boston male who is a very, very picky eater. We tried every brand under the sun and the only food he would eat unfortunately was Beneful so that's what we were feeding him. On his last vet visit the vet recommended Natural Balance. I wanted to get him on something more nutritious, so I gradually switched him over to the Natural Balance limited ingredient chicken and sweet potato variety.
Avatar m tn Then I recently contracted pneumonia and was given a round of strong antibiotics. My dandruff disappeared on the 7th day of my antibiotic treatment and has not returned for a couple of weeks now. This makes no sense to me, as I know that dandruff is not bacterial in nature. Do you have an explanation for this?
Avatar n tn Here is my general diet eggs, alot of water and very little if any soda within a month, skim milk, bran cereal, pasta, ground turkey burgars/regular burgars, fish, lunch meat, white bread, vegetables and fruits such as green beans, baked beans, green peppers, garlic, onions, corn, braccoli, salads, tomatoes, occasionally apples and strawberries, and radishes. I also put oil and vinegar on my salads if I go out to eat. I cook mostly with olive oil.
Avatar n tn I think this resulted in me developing serious dandruff. its been a problem for a while now. I think there is some hairloss and scalp is very dry and itchy. Everytime I run my fingers through my hand i can see flakes falling down. I plan on shaving my head and start applying some cream. Can you recommend any medicine or any remedies. I would really appreciate some help. thank you, max.
Avatar f tn Yes I would suggest using a head and shoulders type shampoo for dandruff (you may not have dandruff but the itchyness can be apart of that) if it persists, I'd suggest maybe going to the doctors, they may be able to prescribe something for it.
Avatar n tn tar shampoo, dandruff shampoo, ketoconazole shampoo (this worked beautifully for YEARS), Loprox shampoo, Derma-smoothe, apple cider vinegar (this was desperation), verdeso foam. I have been under major stress for the last year and a half, and that is when the keto shampoo stopped working. The Loprox didn't work. Derma-smoothe seems like it sort of works, but not like it did the first few times I used it.
