Avatar n tn He suffers from constant dandruff regardless of what shampoos are used. We have been to many dermatologist for prescription shampoos with no luck. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Avatar m tn i am suffering from dandruff from las two months and due this only there is hair loss too. i am using NIZOLE shampoo.but it is not working.
Avatar n tn Hello, It can be due to dandruff, eczema or fungal infection. Dandruff can cause either an overly dry scalp with itchy white flakes that may be waxy or greasy, or it can manifest as an oily scalp with scales. Eat a healthy diet. You can also take vit B6 and vit A and E which are good for hair and skin. Try medicated shampoos for dandruff. There are a number of over-the-counter shampoos available that can help.
Avatar n tn coal-tar preparations (Neutrogena T/Gel, Tegrin) ; Pyrithione zinc (Suave Dandruff Control, Pert Plus Dandruff Control, Head & Shoulders) ; Salicylic acid and sulfur (T-Sal, lonil T, Sebulex) ; Selenium sulfide (Selsun, Exsel); and Ketoconazole (Nizoral A-D). Avatar f tn I am on week 11 of treatment, interferon and riba, about 2 weeks ago, my scalp started to get very itchy, I have used a variety of different shampoos for dandruff, none seem to work on helping the itch. It seems to be worse in the evening when I'm finally relaxing. Is this common and does anyone have any suggestions?

Avatar n tn I've been doing a lot of reading and have concluded that I have facial seborrheic dermatitis. Red, dry, scaly patches starting from the creases of my nose and expanding outward onto the cheek area next to the nose. Through my search I've read that using anti-dandruff shampoos like Head and Shoulders on the face can drastically improve the condition of the affected areas. I started with this treatment about 3 days ago and appear to be responding well to it.
Avatar f tn ve experienced extremely dry and flaky scalp. Can you look at these photos and tell me what it is? Dry scalp, dandruff, scalp psoriasis, or seborrheic dermatitis. The bad part is, I just washed my hair on Monday night. I washed it, conditioned it, put a little of olive oil (food-grade), then I braided my hair in about 8 plaits. I have to wash my hair every week b/c of my scalp. I'm unable to wear twist-outs/braid-outs or any hairstyle that requires me to wear my hair out.
Avatar f tn My scalp is currently burning and itching, I'm sitting here running a brush through it because it just won't stop, my head has been kind of itchy for the passed couple weeks but I didn't think much of it since I thought it was just dandruff, it wasn't too bad until tonight, and now it's affecting my neck but not as bad my head. I haven't changed hair products, and my scalp has no signs of a rash/bumps/lice. Please offer me your best advice! Thank you!
Avatar m tn Also i used a scalp shampoo for some symptoms like psoriasis etc, and it made my hair feel sticky and i don't think i have those symptoms.
Avatar n tn Hey Paul, I suffer from the same problem as you. I am a male and am 18 years old and also suffer from seborrheic dermatitis. Ive done a great deal of research on this condition and have realized that hair loss commonly occurs with this condition when it becomes more severe (This occurs because when the dry scales of skin lift up, they sometimes adhere to the hair and take-out the hair with them).
Avatar f tn Hello. I'm a 20 year old male and during the fall season of 2012 my scalp started really iching and my hair started to shed severely around the crown region. During this time I also had dandruff. This itchyness and dandruff persisted for about another 3 months, that's when I jumped on Nizoral 1%. It stopped the dandruff and the itching, but till this day I'm shedding and its very noticable. My hairloss started at the crown and has worked its way up to my hairline.
Avatar n tn I would try using Neutrogena shampoo alternating with a dandruff shampoo. Avoid conditioner if possible. After washing hair, rinse in a basin of cool water with about a tablespoon of vinegar. Do one more rinse after that. If your city puts both chlorine and ammonia in your water system, consider getting a water filter that filters out both.
1273473 tn?1270775840 I just started treatment 5wks ago and have noticed that my head has been really itchy lately and Im starting to get dry scalp, could this be a side effect of the treatment? Im drinking about 100oz of water a day.
Avatar f tn I now have very severe dandruff, with scabs on my scalp, and my hair has begun to thin--my eyebrows are nearly as bad as my lashes. I don't know if any of this is related, but it has made me very self-conscious about it and everything I do does not help.
Avatar n tn I tried have also tried dandroff shampoos, thinking maybe if I try treating the scalp with dandruff shampoos then it would get better - not much help there either! Well, now, its gotten worse. Now its itching, not as much flaking, "but" she scratches til there are sores and they (more than one) bleed! I have also noticed that she has lumps under her scalp (again more than one)!
Avatar n tn Hi, The best way to treat dandruff is to use a dandruff shampoo. Look for shampoos with ingredients such as zinc pyrithone, salicyclic acid, coal tar, selenium silfide, or ketoconazole. All of these ingredients have been shown to work on dandruff; to use the shampoo, apply it to your scalp and hair, rub vigorously, and allow it to sit for five minutes so that the ingredients can work before rinsing it out.
Avatar m tn Then I recently contracted pneumonia and was given a round of strong antibiotics. My dandruff disappeared on the 7th day of my antibiotic treatment and has not returned for a couple of weeks now. This makes no sense to me, as I know that dandruff is not bacterial in nature. Do you have an explanation for this?
Avatar n tn I think this resulted in me developing serious dandruff. its been a problem for a while now. I think there is some hairloss and scalp is very dry and itchy. Everytime I run my fingers through my hand i can see flakes falling down. I plan on shaving my head and start applying some cream. Can you recommend any medicine or any remedies. I would really appreciate some help. thank you, max.
Avatar f tn You can tell its dandruff or dry scalp by the colour and if there is a smell present or not. Dandruff is yellowish and gives off an odour.
Avatar f tn Last year I tried to treat it by shaving my head and applying Neutrogena acne cream. The redness and the swollen did calm down but it never went away completely. Is the only option that I have is to visit a dermatologist? I try to avoid it since I do not have health insurance and due to my financial status but if that's the only option I would visit one. I wash my hair twice a day once morning once night. Thank you.
Avatar f tn It is about a foot wide a 3 feet long, so you can wrap around your back and legs. Found that using that combined with washing my entire body using a dandruff shampoo has made the itching no longer wake me up in the middle of the night and now manageable. I really scrub with that cloth and I have to say it feels wonderful, because it is also scratching at the same time. Also, everyone tells me that my skin looks great and is glowing, on an up side of this.
Avatar f tn Ive always suffered from dandruff and so i used T-gel and capisal anti-dandfuff shampoos, but when i got pregnant my doc told me not to use them because of coal tar and so i stopped, it also says on the back of the bottle not reccomended during pregnancy, its been 9 weeks and my head is soo itchy its driving me mad :( .. Anyone know any good natural ways to get rid of it?
Avatar n tn I have been suffering from dandruff for more than 10 years. I have tried Nizoral, coal tar, head and shoulder, selsum blue etc but nothing seems to help. Especially in 3 area in my head near the centre, I big circle of dandruff forming. They can be almost the size of dime. Its thicken , raised flaky transparent skin layer with dots. I have been noticing this for atleast 4 years now. I scratch and take it out but it rebuilds in just couple of day in the excact location.
Avatar f tn The first doctor prescribed a steroid cream and told me to wash my hair with dandruff shampoo and put a little of the suds in my ears and on my groin. The steroid cream worked for a couple of weeks and then stopped. A few years later a second doctor gave me samples of an anti-fungal cream and told me to use it. That did nothing. So basically I've been itching non-stop and clawing my body up pretty good for 15 years.
