Common Questions and Answers about Dandruff treatment cream

dandruff

Avatar f tn The first doctor prescribed a steroid cream and told me to wash my hair with dandruff shampoo and put a little of the suds in my ears and on my groin. The steroid cream worked for a couple of weeks and then stopped. A few years later a second doctor gave me samples of an anti-fungal cream and told me to use it. That did nothing. So basically I've been itching non-stop and clawing my body up pretty good for 15 years.
Avatar m tn If it's the outer third of the eyebrow, you should get your thyroid checked. If you have flaking and scaling, like you have dandruff in your eyebrows, then it's probably something fungal. If it's not super red and inflamed, you could try applying some hydrocortisone cream to it. If it helps, it probably is some sort of organism causing irritation and the hair loss, and something like ketoconazole cream or even lotramin would be the thing to do.
Avatar n tn I think this resulted in me developing serious dandruff. its been a problem for a while now. I think there is some hairloss and scalp is very dry and itchy. Everytime I run my fingers through my hand i can see flakes falling down. I plan on shaving my head and start applying some cream. Can you recommend any medicine or any remedies. 1392168 tn?1280074408 I remember when I was little I had a cream for some scabs on my scalp for a while. I think it was incase it was ezcema. My mum has psoriasis and she thought it might be that. It never bothered me until a few years ago, when scabs came back. They are mostly light, and flakey, so flakes come off like dandruff. Even if I spend months not itching them, there are still some there. Sometimes, it's better than others and clears up.
Avatar f tn [9][10] Ketoconazole can be prescribed as a 200 mg pill, a 2% cream, a 2% gel,a 2% foam,or 2% shampoo for the treatment of dandruff or seborrhoeic dermatitis, or as a 1% over-the-counter shampoo (Perkhotal) & (Nizoral). However, 2% shampoo is sold over-the-counter in many countries as well. Ketoconazole is also available as a topical mousse marketed under the brand name Ketomousse. In clinical studies, this preparation proved to be a superior mechanism of delivery to the shampoo.
Avatar n tn An over-the-counter antifungal cream or ointment is the usual treatment for ringworm. However, if it persists, have this evaluated further by your doctor for proper management. Take care and keep us posted.

Avatar n tn t anything visible except dandruff, so is my hair loss without scalp disease? My father has dandruff too but not hair loss. so, is my hair loss associated with tinea? Once I did take pills suggested by a dermatologist but that did not really help.
Avatar f tn hi, I have been infested with a critter that is not the norm (not scabies, lice, fleas, etc.) and am having quite a problem finding a final solution to getting rid of this. Could be something that I brought back from Baja Mexico or from Greece. This critter definitely flourishes in the heat. This has been on-going for about 16 months. I've done the normal route, to several GPs, Pathologists, to the Travel Clinic in Toronto, Ont.
1830047 tn?1321667793 It looks like rosacea. I had it for several years and they kept prescribing rosacea treatment (metro cream) which did not help much. Finally a dermatologist said it was rosacea and seborrhic dermatitis and prescribed a compound cream of ketoderm and hydrocortison and it cleared right up! Now it's flaired up a few times and the cream takes care of it.
Avatar n tn I will appreciate if some one can help me to treat this problem. There is lot of white dandruff flakes on my eyebrows and scalp.
Avatar f tn It started with a spot on my scalp that may have been normal dandruff, or it may have been fungal. Who knows, but it's been a long road since. It has always flaked and when I would scratch, tons of dandruff came off. Over the years, the size of the spot has gotten bigger and bigger and obsessive scratching has taken over my life. To me, I've always scratched until dandruff stopped falling. I felt better once it was all off of me, so to speak. Of course, guilt and shame often followed.

Avatar m tn I used to have dandruff, but it has essentially cleared after using zinc shampoo a few times a week. But the skin is still greasy under my brow and on my eyelid, which results in hairs being weak and falling out. Any suggestions to clear up the greasy skin? I've tried hydrocortisone cream, but to little avail. Also, the condition seems to worsen after a night of drinking alcohol - is that part of the problem?

Avatar n tn I've never had any issues with my hair, but all of I've noticed when washing it and brushing it alot more is coming out than normally would. And it is alot thinner in just a couple weeks. My scalp is itchy like no other and I've used ever dandruff shampoo, home remedies, even cortisone cream on my scalp...nothing seems to keep the itch away.
Avatar n tn Unfortunately, it is returning after this gel is discontinued. I tried an OTC anti-fungal cream for two applications 12 hours apart with no real improvement. She also has a small to moderately sized area of cradle cap on her scalp. The cradle cap has been present off/on since infancy. I plan on trying an OTC dandruff shampoo to see if that will help. Can both the facial rash and flared up cradle cap be related?
Avatar n tn Hey Paul, I suffer from the same problem as you. I am a male and am 18 years old and also suffer from seborrheic dermatitis. Ive done a great deal of research on this condition and have realized that hair loss commonly occurs with this condition when it becomes more severe (This occurs because when the dry scales of skin lift up, they sometimes adhere to the hair and take-out the hair with them).
Avatar f tn Hi, I have been on combination treatment for 15 weeks tomorrow and have been through almost every side effect I think tx can throw me. Just wanted to say hi. Does anyone have any advice on treating riba rash??
Avatar n tn Hi, The best way to treat dandruff is to use a dandruff shampoo. Look for shampoos with ingredients such as zinc pyrithone, salicyclic acid, coal tar, selenium silfide, or ketoconazole. All of these ingredients have been shown to work on dandruff; to use the shampoo, apply it to your scalp and hair, rub vigorously, and allow it to sit for five minutes so that the ingredients can work before rinsing it out.
4244557 tn?1371701336 Pre pregnancy I had some issues with dandruff which I learned to control with products that actually worked for me personally but now during pregnancy my dandruff has gotten out of hand and I can't seem to get my scalp moisturized good enough to fix the problem which is making me insecure. I really want to go get my hair cut but I'm afraid of what the stylist will think or say or react.
Avatar m tn Then I recently contracted pneumonia and was given a round of strong antibiotics. My dandruff disappeared on the 7th day of my antibiotic treatment and has not returned for a couple of weeks now. This makes no sense to me, as I know that dandruff is not bacterial in nature. Do you have an explanation for this?
