Avatar f tn Hi, Im not sure if I have posted in the right place but anyone's help would be greatly appreciated. For some time now, I have the urge almost constantly to run my fingers through my hair to find any loose dandruff particles that I would then pull out and roll in my fingers. I don't know why. It's soothing, yes, but I don't do it when I'm particularly stressed, I just do it when I'm comfortable.

687194 tn?1244811182 I have to constantly wipe my clothing off. I color my hair but have for years. I have not changed my shampoo or hair products at all. Can someone tell me about a remedy that will help...I will try just about anything!
Avatar n tn All of these ingredients have been shown to work on dandruff; to use the shampoo, apply it to your scalp and hair, rub vigorously, and allow it to sit for five minutes so that the ingredients can work before rinsing it out. Dandruff shampoo should be used every few days, and you may need to try several shampoos before you find one which works.
Avatar n tn i am using this for a few month now and i am not sure if it's help or not. since i am shedding a lot and Nioxin probably will not stop "old hair" falling off, but rather make the newly growing hair stronger. so it probably will take long time for me to see the difference. nonica1108. based on your experience, how soon people will see the result? also i have heard that you shall not using other brand the same time, is that true?
Avatar n tn They seem to be made out of dandruff or built up dead skin cells, but I use a specialized shampoo that keeps my scalp moisturized since I've had dandruff issues before. The bumps leak a clear fluid when I scratch them off, and, as expected of an open "wound", sting when in contact with anything external. There is no specific odor that is identifiable, and I have not been able to see one of the bumps via a photo to determine color.

2078979 tn?1332206668 lol) and u cal try oil treatments like puting coconut, jojoba, almont, or even penut oils with vitamin E on ur scalp and let it soak for about 20 min then gently with light shampoo wash it out of the hair bit dont scrub it out of ur scalp if u can help it the condition from scalp to ends of hair pull it up on top of ur head to let it sit while u finnish ur shower then rinse well at the end. U could do that a couple times a week and see if it helps.
Avatar m tn I had no problems with my hair with it. I use it maybe once a month now and I color my hair--- no issues using it. Again, tar is in the ingredients which is the treatment of choice for psoriasis. Cleared up the problem for me. the shampoo is brown and smells not so wonderful ( a bit like a tire) but then I use conditioner after it which makes it smell good.
Avatar f tn ih yes, hate this part!
Avatar f tn Once you have the condition under control, use a more gentle shampoo for your hair type - you may be better off using the baby shampoo - nothing to be embarrassed about.
Avatar f tn ve heard awful things about head and shoulders brand so i choose not to use it. I just use a good moisturizing shampoo because dandruff is caused from your scalp being dry.
Avatar n tn He suffers from constant dandruff regardless of what shampoos are used. We have been to many dermatologist for prescription shampoos with no luck. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Avatar f tn I had horrible dandruff through my first trimester my doctor told me to wash my hair only every other day and that after the first trimester I could use head and shoulders I use the apple one and it's amazing I love it and no dandruff or even signs of dandruff :D
Avatar f tn Just a question, is it dandruff (oily hair) or dry scalp (no moisture). I'd also like to add that head and shoulders is one of the worst shampoos you can use because of the wax that coats your hair. Maybe try cutting back on shampoos each week and use a moisturizing conditioner if your hair is excessively oily. You can tell its dandruff or dry scalp by the colour and if there is a smell present or not. Dandruff is yellowish and gives off an odour.
Avatar n tn You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium. If the symptoms persist, then it would be best to get it confirmed from a dermatologist. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.
Avatar f tn Just make sure the dandruff shampoo is okay'd by your dr. I know, crazy, it's just shampoo right? But personal care products can have things in them you shouldn't use, esp during first trimester. Motherrisk at Sick Kids can also help.
Avatar f tn I'll try that. I st driving me nuts with the itching lol all worth it in the end though. If I find something else that works I'll get back to you. I know it's not so bad while I'm in the shower and I separate my hair to make sure my scalp is extra cleaned off.
Avatar n tn It started out of the blue, my scalp became very itchy and I could not help scratching it, when I scratched it, what appeared to be white flakes of skin came off. I thought this was just normal dandruff so bought Anti-dandruff shampoo (over the years I have tried every Anti-dandruff shampoo you can think of, even stuff from my GP).
Avatar n tn If severe outbreaks are untreated for extended intervals, permanent hair loss may result, because of damage to hair follicles. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seborrhoeic_dermatitis Soaps and detergents such as sodium laureate sulfate may precipitate a flare-up, as they strip moisture from the top layers of the skin, and the drying property of these can cause flare-ups and may worsen the condition. Accordingly a suitable alternative should be used instead.
Avatar n tn Hi, In your case, I would say that if seborrheic dermatitis is present it may contribute to the hair loss but it is of course possible that the hair loss and dandruff are separate conditions. Male pattern baldness if baldness runs in the family may be considered here. But a presence of a scalp condition like seborrheic dermatitis or other fungal infections may cause some degree of hair loss.
