Common Questions and Answers about Dandruff remedies t gel

dandruff

Avatar n tn Hi, I have Seborria Dermititus of the scalp, I've tried over the counter t/gel and other anti dandruff shampoos, but the itching drives me crazy. Any suggestions or home remedies I can benefit from. Thanks in advance.
Avatar m tn I've always had issues with Dry Scalp and Dandruff, particularly during the winter. Over the past couple years, I've also developed some sort of scalp sores that when picked at tend to bleed. They seem to continually come back. I've tried a number of shampoos - Head and Shoulders, Nizoral, Aveda Pureformance, T/Gel, American Crew, etc. with varying results.
Avatar n tn Try using t gel by neutrogena, that does sound like psorosis. T gel is very helpful, and it's not expensive I use it because I get acne on my scalp from using hair spray And it works wonders even though it is made for psorosis. It's main ingredient is coal tar so it doesn't smell pleasant but it's worth a try. Also if you had lice you'd see it crawling.
Avatar f tn I'm having some very bad dandruff since i got pregnant. nothing helps. I've tried t-gel and head and shoulders. Any other suggestions?
Avatar n tn Psoriasis of the scalp and dandruff are very common. The best thing I've ever heard of to combat it is the tar shampoos. T-Gel is a name brand and there are lots of knock off's with the same ingredients. This is what dermatologists recommend.
Avatar n tn coal-tar preparations (Neutrogena T/Gel, Tegrin) ; Pyrithione zinc (Suave Dandruff Control, Pert Plus Dandruff Control, Head & Shoulders) ; Salicylic acid and sulfur (T-Sal, lonil T, Sebulex) ; Selenium sulfide (Selsun, Exsel); and Ketoconazole (Nizoral A-D). (ref: http://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/understanding-dandruff-treatment)If these do not help, you may need stronger prescription shampoo from your doctor. Take care and regards.

977806 tn?1249067346 Try Neutrogena T-Gel. I used that for my severe itching. Normal dandruff shampoo is not good enough.
Avatar f tn She prescribed me 4 different types of shampoos/treatments. One was just like a tar shampoo like Neutrogena T-Gel. One was a see-thru red shampoo. One smelled similar to the T-gel but was prescription strength and was a tan/pinkish color. The last one was a squirt bottle type thing to put directly on my scalp at night. Basically I alternated these treatments every week or two and it usually got better within a week and completely cleared up a month later.
1830047 tn?1321667793 Have you tried Neutregena T-Gel? I was having scalp itch and my face was a mess, all red at splotchy. I started using T-Gel and not only my scalp but face cleared up. It smells strong so I cut it.
Avatar n tn wash your face at least once a day. two times tops (once in the morning, once at night) try not to touch your face to much because of all the oil on peoples hands and dont eat to much sugar.
Avatar m tn try neutrogena t gel, or head and shoulders, you have to try a few before you find one that works
Avatar f tn Ive always suffered from dandruff and so i used T-gel and capisal anti-dandfuff shampoos, but when i got pregnant my doc told me not to use them because of coal tar and so i stopped, it also says on the back of the bottle not reccomended during pregnancy, its been 9 weeks and my head is soo itchy its driving me mad :( .. Anyone know any good natural ways to get rid of it?
2078979 tn?1332206668 Its called t-gel (tge shampoo that looks darkish brown) it does work good, or try denorex extra strength (it doestnt burn like selsom blue, it just has a sligjt cool minty tingle. Ive and what I thought was dadruff most of my life but I found out that dandruff is actually a scalp condition that is caused by a natural bacteria that grows on ur scalp and u can use oils like tea tree, and eucaliptus to kill it and calm/get rid of dadruff. But u could just have dry scalp which is different.
Avatar m tn Hi I've just found this forum and I'm delighted! I have to wash my hair EVERY day and by lunchtime it smells bad, more so on my scalp but my hair too! I've tried T-Gel, Nizorel, Vosene, Sulphur shampoo, anti dandruff stuff prescribed by the doctor (who actually didn't believe me, she clearly didn't get close enough!) and I'm starting to get paranoid, not to mention worried about the condition of my hair due to constant washing, drying straightening.
Avatar f tn Have you tried Neutrogena T Gel yet? That one did a pretty good job of keeping my itching and dandruff in check. Benadryl helps, too. You may consider asking your doctor for something stronger for the itching, like Atarax.
Avatar m tn Do you mean psoriasis? Pyrosis is another term for heartburn. I'm guessing you mean psoriasis which I also suffer. You've used the T Gel, tar shampoo? That's pretty effective. Here is an article of how it is commonly treated. https://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/psoriasis/scalp-psoriasis They also have topicals you can put on it and things that will make it peel. They sometimes use UV light treatment but this is a lot harder on the scalp if you have hair.
Avatar f tn The stuff on my scalp is getting better but I still have some days where it seems worse than others. I have used just about everything there is to try (T-gel, Head & Shoulders, olive oil at night with a shower cap on my head, washing my hair only 2 times a week to prevent extra dryness and nioxin) but nothing really seems to help to a great degree.
17551709 tn?1457744886 I have had dandruff for years. I tried washing my hair with different shampoos, tried washing my hair multiple times per day and even tried several different anti-dandruff shampoos without success. Now I'm going to start using home remedies like apple cider vinegar.
Avatar f tn I also tried head and shoulders and it seemed to make it worse. I am now trying T-Gel to see if that stops the itch and the flaking. It is just embarassing that I can't even wear a dark colored shirt. Never in my life have I had dandruff like this. If the T-Gel doesn't work, I will see if I can find the stuff you recommended in my local salon. Thank you both so much.
Avatar n tn I am a 24 year old woman who has long, thick brown hair. People always tell me how beautiful my hair is and comment on how silky, shiny, and thick it is. All my life I've been able to run my hands through it! About two months ago, the texture of my hair has changed and is more coarse like and is falling out. Now, when I run my hands through my hair, at least 3 to 10 hairs will come out.
Avatar f tn No test have been done, saw family physician, she only suggested a dandruff shampoo. I have been using T- Gel and Demerex.
Avatar m tn I went to see the doctor about this around May and he prescribed an alcohol based gel because he thought it was some kind of infection or fungus and that the gel would get rid of it. The gel just makes my skin ridiculously flaky where it wasn't flaky before so I only used it a few times and stopped. I've included some photos in case it might help... Using face soap makes it much worse and using a face moisturizer seems to help.
Avatar f tn I am going to get a referral for a dermatologist and get my scalp examined. I bought Neutrogena T/Gel therapeutic shampoo and washed my hair. It has been two days and the white flakes/dry patches are back. I will keep you updated on my condition. Thanks.
Avatar f tn Fearing that those would leave me marks I went to dermatologist and was prescribed acne clear gel, hidrate lotion and adaferin gel. I have been using acne gel and hidrate lotion from one month my acne settled well. But from last 3 days I am getting very bad white flakes on face. My face is tight and some time applying lotion burns my face. White flakes have appeared first time on my face. I am very scared does this resembles dermatitis? I also have little bit itching on face.
Avatar f tn For the past 6 months, my scalp has developed a bad hair odor. The smells occurs after my hair is dried. I smell it and others have told me that they smell it too. I used to wash my hair once a week but because of the smell, I wash my hair 2-3 times a week. I did go to the dermatologist and was prescribed Keketoconazole 2 % but it doesn’t work as the smell comes back. The doctor did an exam and there was no appearance of dandruff.
Avatar m tn hey there, I've had a similar problem before and I'm still not sure whether it was psoriasis or seborrheic dermatitis. The only thing that worked for me was this ointment called clobetasol propionate .05%. Fluocinonide might have worked for me also. Not sure. So Clobetasol Propionate worked for me, but it's very oily. They used to have it in cream form (without all the oil), but they don't sell it in that form anymore. So I had to deal with all the oil on my scalp for a while.
