dandruff

Avatar n tn Hello, It can be due to dandruff, eczema or fungal infection. Dandruff can cause either an overly dry scalp with itchy white flakes that may be waxy or greasy, or it can manifest as an oily scalp with scales. Eat a healthy diet. You can also take vit B6 and vit A and E which are good for hair and skin. Try medicated shampoos for dandruff. There are a number of over-the-counter shampoos available that can help.
Avatar f tn Seborrheic dermatitis on the scalp can be treated effectively by using an anti-dandruff dandruff shampoo containing ketoconazole or salicylic acid or selenium sulfide. If symptoms recur, you may again begin with the treatment prescribed by your dermatologist. Take care.
Avatar m tn what can i do about oily dandruff? all the things available in the market seem to be for dry dandruff. what products should i be using? any changes in my diet or lifestyle u could recommend?
Avatar n tn This cleared up the scales, but I still had horrible dandruff. After a week or so, the scales returned, and my dandruff is just as bad as ever. Does anybody have any recommendations for any alternative treatments? Could this be stress-related? I really need to get this under control, and it is becoming a problem in school. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Avatar n tn The spots are not scaly. Whenever he applies a dandruff shampoo to it, it eases and goes away. He has been told that it is the dandruff that has run down to his face.Others say that it is his high alcohol consumption which is in correlation to some liver disorder. The spots tend to look like ring worm but not exactly. When the weather becomes cool, it also surfaces. What do you think this condition sounds like?
17551709 tn?1457744886 I have had dandruff for years. I tried washing my hair with different shampoos, tried washing my hair multiple times per day and even tried several different anti-dandruff shampoos without success. Now I'm going to start using home remedies like apple cider vinegar.

Avatar m tn Hello, It can be due to dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis. Dandruff can cause either an overly dry scalp with itchy white flakes that may be waxy or greasy, or it can manifest as an oily scalp with scales. Seborrehic dermatitis, also called adult cradle cap is usually caused by overgrowth of Malassezia furfur. This skin disease is aggravated by sweating and humidity. I suggest you to get it evaluated from a dermatologist and get the diagnosis confirmed. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn I've had this problem since for about seven years now, it first started as just dandruff, but a lot of it, nothing would take it away; head and shoulders made it worse and so did selsum blue. Then the flake have gotten as big as the diameter of a 12oz soda bottle cap. Then i noticed that these large flakes looked more like scabs, and as they fell off really big red spots developed with blood under them, it has been on the top half of my scalp the whole five years.
Avatar m tn I went through a period where I was scrubbing my face almost compulsively because I thought it would help rid me of my acne. Sometimes, my face would look smooth and pimple free, but other times it was inflamed with some pimples. Anyway, I decided to stop doing this and allow my facial skin to develop naturally. After a few days of no scrubbing I noticed that small scaly, slightly yellow (I'm white) formations were forming over the portions of my face that I had been scrubbing.
Avatar n tn hi friends, when ever i sctratch my head , some white wetty substance get stucked into my nails.... what is this ? is this fungus ? or dandruff? i shampoo four times a week with garnier antidandruff, ......pls help me...
Avatar n tn Dandruff can cause either an overly dry scalp with itchy white flakes that may be waxy or greasy, or it can manifest as an oily scalp with scales. Dandruff is associated with a tiny fungus called Pityrosporum ovale, or P. ovale for short. This fungus lives on our bodies and scalp all the time, usually without causing a problem. Unfortunately, for some people, it can get out of control -- leading to dandruff.
Avatar n tn This may be a fungal infection. Have the scales microscopically evaluated to determine if this is indeed a fungal infection here. Also, do not pick on the area. Apply a thin amount of 1% hydrocortisone over the affected skin and see if this improves in two day's time. If there is no response, have this evaluated by a physician. Other differentials will be psoriasis or seborrheic dermatitis. Are there family members or partners with dandruff or fungal infections before?
Avatar n tn I have never had dandruff before. The flakes are pretty big and there is this one spot where if i go to scratch my scalp it always bleeds. I have tried changing shampoos and washing my hair with cold water instead of hot but nothing has made it go away. I notice a reduction in flakes the day i shower but after that it gets worse. Im not sure if i should see a doctor or not. What could it be?
Avatar f tn I started off with an itchy scalp about 4-5 weeks ago - i then noticed i had some dandruff - i wasn't too concerned intil i found myself itching quite a lot - ive had dandruff before and it generally goes soon enough and doesn't cause too much itching. Anyway i started to become paranoid thinking i had lice - as my cousins were visiting i thought perhaps i had got lice from one of them. However nobody was itching but me.
Avatar f tn The first doctor prescribed a steroid cream and told me to wash my hair with dandruff shampoo and put a little of the suds in my ears and on my groin. The steroid cream worked for a couple of weeks and then stopped. A few years later a second doctor gave me samples of an anti-fungal cream and told me to use it. That did nothing. So basically I've been itching non-stop and clawing my body up pretty good for 15 years.
