Avatar m tn My 7 yr old female cat has developed what appears to be dandruff thick skin flakes that slough off. Is this a cat's allergy or a dietary problem?
17551709 tn?1457744886 I have had dandruff for years. I tried washing my hair with different shampoos, tried washing my hair multiple times per day and even tried several different anti-dandruff shampoos without success. Now I'm going to start using home remedies like apple cider vinegar.
Avatar n tn I think this resulted in me developing serious dandruff. its been a problem for a while now. I think there is some hairloss and scalp is very dry and itchy. Everytime I run my fingers through my hand i can see flakes falling down. I plan on shaving my head and start applying some cream. Can you recommend any medicine or any remedies. I would really appreciate some help. thank you, max.
Avatar n tn t seem to have made much of a dent in the dandruff. Like I said, the dandruff is minimal on some days and heavier on other days with seemingly no rhyme or reason. I've tried adding some olive oil to his food, and even rubbing some on him because I read it might help, but really when I massaged some olive oil into his skin it almost seemed to make the dandruff worse. What do you all think? I have read they sell dog balm and dog moisturizers, which I'd never even heard of before.
Avatar n tn old is really suffering, your Vet should prescribe Medication for Arthrititis....These natural remedies (Listed above) take a few weeks to get in the system....Then the Vet meds. can be cut down...Good luck.... I'm curious now.......I'll have to google the Molasses.......

Avatar n tn It felt like someone is pouring acid on it. It even felt painful to move my hair in any direction. It was so excruciating I ended up in the urgent care twice. They ran a bunch of thyroid and hormonal tests which came back fine.
Avatar n tn At first i thought it might be tinea versicolor because it was kind of blotchy and does glow in the blacklight. but i have tried antifungal creams and shampoos to no avail. it doesnt itch or anything. i dont know if it glows in the blacklight because it is flaking skin or because of a fungus? i can scratch off little pieces of skin. what could it be? its not red, its slightly lighter than my regular color even when i tan, i think maybe just because it is dead skin coming off?
Avatar n tn I'd like to make a little correction: Nizoral's Blue is a shampoo I recommended for dandruff, and I didn't mean it in the sense of a shampoo that takes away the oils from your scalp. It is a medicated one, and does work for mild to medium dandruff. It needs to be used twice a week and usually does the job pretty well. Also, don't oil your hair and scalp for more than 2 hours, especially if your scalp sweats after being oiled.
Avatar n tn The dandruff is better when I cut hair short. Sometimes the itching is so irritating that I want to cut hair off!
Avatar f tn Whenever i scratch or brush my hair white flaky particles fall off and there are white patches on some areas of my head. In the mornings i notice there are sought of moulded particles on head and hair line which i have to choice but to scratch off, the result is a painful sensation all over my head. It's really embarrassing in public and generally. My doctor friend prescribed i use Selsun blue shampoo, I've tried that for months with absolutely no result at all.
20900786 tn?1598014440 I hope you can help. I have what I can only describe as huge, thick wad of dead, dry skin on my scalp above m my forehead. It feels awful and it's so irritating. Nothing will make it go away, not even a special shampoo a dermatologist prescribed. It's been awhile since I was seen. What is it, and are there any home remedies I can use? Dandruff shampoo doesn't work.
687194 tn?1244811182 I have a very very itchy and flaky scalp. I have tried all the OTC remedies, Sea Breeze and Tea Tree Oil. It is driving me crazy. I wake up in the middle of the night sratching my head. I do not have this problem anywhere else on my body except the scalp. I have to constantly wipe my clothing off. I color my hair but have for years. I have not changed my shampoo or hair products at all. Can someone tell me about a remedy that will help...I will try just about anything!
675347 tn?1365460645 If you feel the dandruff is becoming severe, your vet can recommend a good anti-dandruff shampoo for dogs. You might also try more frequent brushing to remove the dry skin. Humans "shed" skin, too, it's a natural occurrence. Old skin cells slough off and are replaced by new ones. But unless it is severe, I wouldn't worry about it.
Avatar n tn As Ghilly said, many products and remedies which are fine for Humans, can be poisonous for dogs, or indeed any other animal, as their whole systems are different to ours. That includes Herbal remedies. Some are fine, some are not. Only a qualified Herbal Vet would know.
209987 tn?1451935465 s ears, as treatments for humans do not necessarily work on dogs - and peroxide is very very dangerous, even in mild forms. Second, do not use the method of holding q-tips and letting your dog move towards them - this is so dangerous, as the ear is a very delicate organ and you can cause irrepairable damage to the middle ear, resulting in your dog losing its hearing and/or its balance.
277836 tn?1359666174 Okay I ned help my cat has dandruff and I am pretty sure it is coming from the lack of dry air here in the house it has been very cold.. So i am sure there isnt much mositure in the air... So are their any shampoos I can get to help clear this up for a cat like at petsmart??? Also he is on strict dry food diet because his tummy cant handle can food and he makes a very unpleasant mess.. So I am thinking of adding a tablespoon of olive oil to help to..
Avatar f tn I am sorry to hear about your dogs dandruff and that's usually quite simple to clear up. Add a little extra virgin olive oil to your dogs meals and/or supplement with Essential Omega-3 Fatty Acids. You might also reduce the weekly flea baths and intermix them with organic oatmeal baths which are quite soothing. Remember for most of us, the fall season is approaching which is when dogs shed their coats to prepare for winter.
Avatar f tn Glad you went back to the Vet and some tests are being done. Having done some breeding of dogs myself in the past, this just strikes me as really odd it is all 3 and only the neck area. I take it you have noticed no other hair loss anywhere else on the body? Did the Vet tell you to use that shampoo? Us that the human shampoo?
Avatar f tn I really hope you can help me. We have a male Boston Terrier who will be 7 in July. He's had allergies in the past that caused some yeast problems on the folds of his face and ear trouble, and he seems to have grown out of them or something - in the past 2 years he's had no issues with any of that. He'd been eating Beneful Healthy Weight formula for several years.
Avatar n tn ve tried over the counter t/gel and other anti dandruff shampoos, but the itching drives me crazy. Any suggestions or home remedies I can benefit from. Thanks in advance.
