Dandruff remedies head and shoulders

Common Questions and Answers about Dandruff remedies head and shoulders

dandruff

Avatar f tn It sounds like you have dandruff- which the selsun blue shampoo should help, but sometimes it can be resistant to anti-dandruff shampoos for various reasons. You could try some other brands (such as head and shoulders) or you could try some home remedies- lemon juice or apple cider vinegar. If that doesn't work, you may want to head back to your doctor to see if the flakes are indications of another medical condition- it could be something like eczema.
Avatar n tn I went to several doctors who have told me to try different dandruff shampoos (Selsun Blue, Nizoral 2%, Head and Shoulders) and none of the shampoos have ever worked. I've even tried leaving shampoo on my skin for several hours and then washing it off. I always thought it was tinea versacolor because of the photos I've seen of other cases, but none of the remedies have helped. Is there anything out there that will get rid of this fungus permanently?
Avatar f tn are u serious u cant use dandruff shampoo ?? ive been using head and shoulders .. holly **** i had no idea ..... O.
Avatar f tn Me too. Head and shoulders is supposed to be good for dandruff, but I've heard awful things about head and shoulders brand so i choose not to use it. I just use a good moisturizing shampoo because dandruff is caused from your scalp being dry.
Avatar m tn Head and Shoulders made them go away (both the Dandruff and head sores) but only for a short time. I have since been using a rotation of Head & Shoulders, Pureformance, and American Crew to no avail. My dandruff isn't too bad anymore but the scalp sores won't go away. I haven't tried T/Gel or Nizoral since getting the scalp sores.
Avatar f tn I had horrible dandruff through my first trimester my doctor told me to wash my hair only every other day and that after the first trimester I could use head and shoulders I use the apple one and it's amazing I love it and no dandruff or even signs of dandruff :D
Avatar f tn Just a question, is it dandruff (oily hair) or dry scalp (no moisture). I'd also like to add that head and shoulders is one of the worst shampoos you can use because of the wax that coats your hair. Maybe try cutting back on shampoos each week and use a moisturizing conditioner if your hair is excessively oily. You can tell its dandruff or dry scalp by the colour and if there is a smell present or not. Dandruff is yellowish and gives off an odour.
Avatar n tn About 2 years ago (when I was 23) I went to a hair salon, had my hair colored incorrectly, to fix this the colorist applied 2 different coloring treatments which were excruciating and made my scalp burn. Within the week I noticed that my hair started falling out more than normal. I went to my doctor and asked to check for vitamin/mineral efficiencies to make sure it wasn't the cause of my hair loss.
Avatar f tn Have you tried any anti - dandruff shampoo for a start? It sounds more complicated than dandruff but it shouldnt harm your current condition. The presence of puss could refer to folliculitis. Start with a common shampoo like head & shoulders to see if it gets any better although i would suggest you to visit a dermatologist.
Avatar f tn ve had this problem since for about seven years now, it first started as just dandruff, but a lot of it, nothing would take it away; head and shoulders made it worse and so did selsum blue. Then the flake have gotten as big as the diameter of a 12oz soda bottle cap. Then i noticed that these large flakes looked more like scabs, and as they fell off really big red spots developed with blood under them, it has been on the top half of my scalp the whole five years.
Avatar f tn I've had the same problem, I use Moroccan hair oil on my scalp and it helps.
1486982 tn?1289461783 I have had an itchy scalp and dandruff. My hair is healthy and becomes oily very easily. I have picked up some Tgel, but wanted to know if nayone had any other options on what works. Head and shoulders does nothing but make my hair very oily. ANy suggestions woudl be appreciated.
Avatar n tn You can also take vit B6 and vit A and E which are good for hair and skin. Try medicated shampoos for dandruff. There are a number of over-the-counter shampoos available that can help. The most effective ingredients -- antimicrobials -- to look for are zinc pyridinethione, selenium sulfide, sulfur and ketoconazole (also available by prescription). If your hair is colored, don't use products with selenium sulfide or sulfur.
1468158 tn?1363026295 its gotten worse they hurt all the time an itch, its all through my hairline an my head. they say head-an-shoulders is good for your scalp but its not working. i swear i just washed my hair yesterday an it already looks greasy dirty and feels nasty. its not lice either my hairs pretty dark i should see it but my husband hasnt shown any lice either an we share a bed.
Avatar m tn This is not uncommon. This is why there are lots of anti-dandruff shampoos on sale. Try Head and Shoulders or a Nizoral shampoo to see if it helps. But you need to go to a dermatologist to get it property diagnosed and treated and then you can forget about it.
Avatar n tn I am a 24 year old woman who has long, thick brown hair. People always tell me how beautiful my hair is and comment on how silky, shiny, and thick it is. All my life I've been able to run my hands through it! About two months ago, the texture of my hair has changed and is more coarse like and is falling out. Now, when I run my hands through my hair, at least 3 to 10 hairs will come out.
Avatar m tn Have you tried the products yet? Head and shoulders type stuff work for dandruff due to the active ingredients in it, and I believe it would work fine for oily dandruff.
Avatar f tn Thank you both so much for your posts. I have tried the cidar vinegar but I don't think I have done it enough times to get results. I also tried head and shoulders and it seemed to make it worse. I am now trying T-Gel to see if that stops the itch and the flaking. It is just embarassing that I can't even wear a dark colored shirt. Never in my life have I had dandruff like this. If the T-Gel doesn't work, I will see if I can find the stuff you recommended in my local salon.
Avatar n tn Use special shampoo such as head and shoulders. And maybe use a coconut oil hair mask once or twice a week.
2078979 tn?1332206668 I'm gonna be 35 weeks and recently started getting it, so right now I'm gonna try using a Paul Mitchell product since my bestie works at a salon that her mom own but I'm pretty sure head and shoulders or selsun blue they are both dandruff shampoos.. the selsun blue works good!
Avatar n tn Thanks for answering. I'm going to buy Head&Shoulders, i heard it helps with dandruff too.
Avatar f tn If you had head lice, you sometimes would find a little bug, but also would see white sugar looking grains on your hair near the scalp. These are called nits - these are the eggs of the head lice. The flaky skin that you have coming down and falling on to your clothes, like Jessjess2014 says is called dandruff. This can sometimes be caused by a fungal infection on the head. To treat this you would need a shampoo that also has antifungal properties.
Avatar n tn Me too getting dryscalp and dandruff.
Avatar f tn Hi, wondering if anyone has an answer for me. I used to get dandruff on and off and I used head & shoulders or others like it and it worked fine. This winter, however, my scalp has gotten extremly dry and itchy and flaky, and sore from all the scratching. I tried a bunch of more heavy duty OTC shampoos for dandruff, but none worked. I used an essential oils scalp massage and that worked for a bit. Now it is out of control and driving me crazy.
Avatar n tn wash your face at least once a day. two times tops (once in the morning, once at night) try not to touch your face to much because of all the oil on peoples hands and dont eat to much sugar.

Avatar n tn hi - i had the problem of scalp/head that smelled like sweat - even a few hours after a shower if i went outside. i ended up researching it extensively and began using regular head and shoulders. i do not have dandruff and my scalp really doesn't get that oily, but much to my appreciation - head and shoulders works for this problem.
