As it is normal for skin cells to die and flake off, a small amount of flaking is normal and in fact quite common. Malassezia(yeast) lives on the scalps of most healthy adults without causing problems.

But the hair continued to fall.

ahhh sorry to hear of Max's problems...sir he most likely has an infection and does need to be seen by a vet. There are no home remedies that I know of...maybe someone else will be able to give you more help, but I think a vet would be the best for kitty. let us know how you make out please.

I've never had any issues with my hair, but all of I've noticed when washing it and brushing it alot more is coming out than normally would. And it is alot thinner in just a couple weeks. My scalp is itchy like no other and I've used ever dandruff shampoo, home remedies, even cortisone cream on my scalp...nothing seems to keep the itch away.
