I have had dandruff for years. I tried washing my hair with different shampoos, tried washing my hair multiple times per day and even tried several different anti-dandruff shampoos without success. Now I'm going to start using home remedies like apple cider vinegar.

The dandruff is better when I cut hair short. Sometimes the itching is so irritating that I want to cut hair off!

I hope you can help. I have what I can only describe as huge, thick wad of dead, dry skin on my scalp above m my forehead. It feels awful and it's so irritating. It sounds like you have dandruff- which the selsun blue shampoo should help, but sometimes it can be resistant to anti-dandruff shampoos for various reasons. You could try some other brands (such as head and shoulders) or you could try some home remedies- lemon juice or apple cider vinegar. If that doesn't work, you may want to head back to your doctor to see if the flakes are indications of another medical condition- it could be something like eczema.

I have a very very itchy and flaky scalp. I have tried all the OTC remedies, Sea Breeze and Tea Tree Oil. It is driving me crazy. I wake up in the middle of the night sratching my head. I do not have this problem anywhere else on my body except the scalp. I have to constantly wipe my clothing off. I color my hair but have for years. I have not changed my shampoo or hair products at all. Can someone tell me about a remedy that will help...I will try just about anything!

instead the shampoos made my hair loss worse and gave me dandruff. I started experiencing severe burning sensation on my scalp. It felt like someone is pouring acid on it. It even felt painful to move my hair in any direction. It was so excruciating I ended up in the urgent care twice. They ran a bunch of thyroid and hormonal tests which came back fine.

I've never had any issues with my hair, but all of I've noticed when washing it and brushing it alot more is coming out than normally would. And it is alot thinner in just a couple weeks. My scalp is itchy like no other and I've used ever dandruff shampoo, home remedies, even cortisone cream on my scalp...nothing seems to keep the itch away.

My Taz has bad dandruff too. I use a little bit of baby lotion- NOT oil- and rub it into his skin really well.

Okay I ned help my cat has dandruff and I am pretty sure it is coming from the lack of dry air here in the house it has been very cold.. So i am sure there isnt much mositure in the air... So are their any shampoos I can get to help clear this up for a cat like at petsmart??? Also he is on strict dry food diet because his tummy cant handle can food and he makes a very unpleasant mess.. I have this issue too! Normally I have oily hair but I have bad dandruff and dry hair now. In used to wash my hair every day and I've taken to washing it 2-3 times a week and the split ends are terrible. My hair is still very shiny but that's about it.

I'm 25 weeks and I've noticed that I have very bad dandruff. I hate it and it really bothers me. Has this happened to anyone else and if so what helped?

A late comment; but, I do bathe my cats. No more than twice a year. I have four cats two of which are black. One of the black cats will get dandruff very bad if I don't bathe him. I use a good, vet approved cat shampoo and conditioner. I rinse him very, very well. He shines for months after a good bath.

I should mention that my mother suffers from a Candida Albicans overgrowth and I exhibit some of the signs of a similar infection at times. I crave carbs, I have dandruff that is hard to control, and in recent years any little scrape against my skin can turn into a puffy mark for an hour or so. It seems to weep and generate a crustiness I noticed. I have tried dandruff shampoo, neosporin, lotion, tea tree oil, and plain petroleum jelly. All have worked to a point, but the itchiness and scaly skin still continue. It comes off in flakes. I do wear glasses and use a headband when I go to the gym which I thought caused it. Keep it clean and dry after showers but it hasn't helped. Anyone have something that works?

I have been seeing white things in their hair but they easily brush off. It seems like dandruff. This is all located around the ear area. Do I need to worry? I also constantly worry that I have lice..my head is itchy but I also only see what appears to be dandruff.

For as far back as I can remember I've had horrible dandruff. In 2nd grade, I was so embarrassed because during a regular lice check at school, the school nurse made a nasty comment about my "cakes of dandruff." And coinciding with this dandruff is a horrible, almost unbearable itch.

Does anyone know any good remedies for dry skin? I have horrible dry skin and no lotion is helping not even coco butter.
