1608004 tn?1390770990 she only eats grain free food (both wet and dry) should I be giving her something to counteract this dandruff? maybe some sardines or olive oil or something. thank you!
277836 tn?1359666174 Since you have a large cat, I think the 1 1/2 cans wet and graze on a good dry like Wellness (or whatever else, there are many good ones) sounds perfect. Jade is a small cat and eats two 3oz cans of wet with a little dry food if she's hungry later. I'm thinking you and ZQ are talking about the larger, 5-6oz cans of cat food, yes? If so, sounds good. I agree with the shampooing - will only make the condition worse.
Avatar f tn You can tell its dandruff or dry scalp by the colour and if there is a smell present or not. Dandruff is yellowish and gives off an odour.

I wanted, however, to talk to you about this particular subject: Omega-3.
Avatar f tn m going off of what I vaguely remember lol. There are 3 causes for dandruff dry scalp, oily scalp, and a fungus. The condition of your scalp is what is going to tell u which treatment to use. One remedy is ad easy as shampooing everyday and using less conditioner on your scalp. You should also try using a clarifying shampoo and a moisturizing conditioner.
Avatar n tn Hi all! I hope someone can give me some advice on what might help my 7-year-old Boston Terrier's dandruff problem. He was a tiny bit overweight, and at the advice of his vet, we switched him from Beneful to Natural Balance limited ingredient food in May (gradually switching over about a week and a half). Coincidence or not, he immediately started having dandruff, but he loved the food, and since he's such an extremely picky eater we stuck with it.

Avatar f tn The only thing that helped me was to begin using shampoos without sodium lauryl or laureth sulfate or ammonium lauryl or laureth sulfate. These chemicals give some sensitive scalp people 'scalp scurf'. Mild natural shampoos can be found at the health store or online.

Avatar m tn Hello, Dandruff can cause either an overly dry scalp with itchy white flakes that may be waxy or greasy, or it can manifest as an oily scalp with scales. Eat a healthy diet. You can also take vit B6 and vit A and E which are good for hair and skin. Try medicated shampoos for dandruff. There are a number of over-the-counter shampoos available that can help.
Avatar f tn Hello, From the symptoms this problem of dry itchy scalp can be due to dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis. You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium. But if your hair is colored, don't use products with selenium sulfide or sulfur.

Avatar f tn The symptoms of Ringworm or Tinea Capitis include a dry itchy scalp, scaling, crusting, inflamed nodules, hair loss and tender enlarged lymph nodes on the neck. Because of the scratching that is involved with the condition it can become secondarily infected with a bacterial infection. Diagnosis is by clinical examination of the scalp as well as a skin lesion biopsy with microscopic examination. Anti-fungal medications, taken by mouth, are used to treat the infection.

9562964 tn?1416928231 The type of shampoo you use should also depend on your hair type in terms of texture and whether it is dry, oily as well as the scalp (sensitive, dry, oily). The above suggestions can be a bit harsh, especially if your scalp is damaged or sensitive. Stress and diet as well as medications can affect hair fall, however genetics do play a strong role. Don't go overboard with dandruff shampoos, you may not need to use it everyday.
Avatar m tn I've always had issues with Dry Scalp and Dandruff, particularly during the winter. Over the past couple years, I've also developed some sort of scalp sores that when picked at tend to bleed. They seem to continually come back. I've tried a number of shampoos - Head and Shoulders, Nizoral, Aveda Pureformance, T/Gel, American Crew, etc. with varying results.
