2026902 tn?1369098398 My daughter is a little over 5 months and has cradle cap. Anyone know any tricks on helping it go away?
5739386 tn?1378836460 Did she mean cradle cap? It's the rash on their scalp. It usually goes away by itself, my little brother had it wheb he was a baby.
8628831 tn?1407267564 Baby oil is for a small amount to use on baby's hair to prevent cradle cap and to add moisture. rub a little bit of baby oil in your hands then apply to babies hair. Brush it daily. Use once every two weeks.
Avatar m tn If you have dandruff and spots it could be caused by a yeast overgrowth similiar to when babies get cradle cap. This is not uncommon. This is why there are lots of anti-dandruff shampoos on sale. Try Head and Shoulders or a Nizoral shampoo to see if it helps. But you need to go to a dermatologist to get it property diagnosed and treated and then you can forget about it.
Avatar f tn Lol cradle cap has nothing to do with the hair not being rinsed off enough. It's basically really dry scalp and it develops thick dandruff that covers the scalp. And sum ppl use baby oil to remove it from my experience olive oil works better on cradle cap.
Avatar f tn Our five year old son still has a patch of what is commonly known as cradle cap on infants. For years we have used an over the counter cradle cap remedy, baby oil, and/or moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. We have picked it off and gotten rid of it and then it comes right back. It is not noticeable under his hair and it doesn't bother him. He does not scratch at it or notice it at all. Having large flakes in his hair is really just a nuisance.
Avatar n tn The cradle cap has been present off/on since infancy. I plan on trying an OTC dandruff shampoo to see if that will help. Can both the facial rash and flared up cradle cap be related? Is there other OTC options for treatment or should I bite the bullet and schedule an appointment with a dermatologist?
2177836 tn?1355173877 My son is almost 3 months, I've noticed that his scalp is really dry. Kind of like he was dandruff but it's on his scalp not his hair so I'm not sure what it's from or what I can do to make it better, he uses the jonhsons baby shampoo btw. Any suggestions ladies?
Avatar m tn Hello, I think the doctor is talking about seborrehic dermatitis which is also called adult cradle cap. You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium. If the symptoms persist, then it would be best to get it confirmed from a dermatologist. Hope it helps.
Avatar f tn Hello, For such symptoms which can be due to severe dandruff or adult cradle cap, eat a healthy diet. You can also take vit B6 and vit A and E which are good for hair and skin. Try medicated shampoos for dandruff. There are a number of over-the-counter shampoos available that can help. The most effective ingredients -- antimicrobials -- to look for are zinc pyridinethione, selenium sulfide, sulfur and ketoconazole (also available by prescription).
Avatar n tn My son out of the blue has horrible flaking and his skin is so thick on his scalp it almost reminds me of when he was a baby and had cradle cap. Does anyone know what this is? This condition was a quick change just between haircuts. Should I take him to the doctor or is there an over the counter remedy?
Avatar f tn I know Cradle Cap is used for babie's that have it but i just cannot remember the real name for it. Anyways my mum seems to have it and she's in her late 40's. The first time she got it was a few months ago, it started off with a severe itchy scalp and red itchy spots on her neck/back, then she woke up with a shock, her scalp was covered in yellow crust, it was awful she was so distressed, i had to get it out with a nit comb. That time she was suffering from stress.
Avatar f tn - baby oil is to help with cradle cap, but cradle cap does not mean you are poorly taking care of your child - you WILL make mistakes. Its ok. In the movie when the dad says the child rolled off the changing table, while it was funny, is also absurdly accurate. We all mess up. Its important to ALWAYS learn to forgive yourself as a parent. Bc screw ups will happen :) Any questions just ask ill try to help.
Avatar f tn I need suggestions on what I can do for adolescent cradle cap? My little brother doesn't have any insurance and I need help. Could conofite lotion 1 % help? What about chlorhexidine scrub used as a shampoo?
705807 tn?1300751246 Anyone else's babies have cradle cap? My son is 6 weeks and has had it for a week. It's pretty gross looking.
797375 tn?1256231262 My Bailey has what looks like cradle cap. I had him at the vet last month. She gave him antibotics, doggie benydrl, and Sebozole (miconazole nitrate 2% chloroxylenol 1% ) to shampoo him in twice a week. And she also did a fungial test and it came back negative. I did everything she told me too and he is not getting better if anything it's worse. I have changed his food and treats (this week), his shampoo. I really can't afford another 110.00 vet bill with more meds.
4251679 tn?1370305531 My son had cradle cap in the same place and in his hair line his pediatrician told me to use selsun blue, I know sounds weird but it worked! Just put a little bit across her eyebrows and then wipe off with a warm wash cloth..
Avatar f tn Hi ladies my first baby is 6weeks old now and has cradle cap. I was so worried I had done something wrong but thankfully that isn't the case as I didn't know anything about it so I did some research. My question is how can I get rid of it? Its not affecting him but it just looks bad to look at. I bought a cream called dermcrem for dermatitis and nappy rash and I think its improving it a bit but what else can I try?
Avatar f tn This is a Q for mommy's who already have a LO. My 2 month old has cradle cap, which in my opinion has gotten bad. It is yellow & scaly. I have used baby oil & tried brushing the scales off but it is not working well. It has gotten rid of a lot of it but not all & i have done it multiple days. It seems to be irritating her head too. Any suggestions?
