Avatar m tn Our cat is not shy with family and if our natural body oil helps at all, Catalina should be helped if she has dry skin, because she often loves to be petted and scratched! I think it is because scientists recognize there's a difference that they prefer to experiment on animals to humans. As a female not fond of rats and mice, I think they make a fine contribution to humans when they help advance medicine! Of course, cats are fond of those animals for prey!

Anyone know any good natural ways to get rid of it?
Avatar n tn t seem to have made much of a dent in the dandruff. Like I said, the dandruff is minimal on some days and heavier on other days with seemingly no rhyme or reason. I've tried adding some olive oil to his food, and even rubbing some on him because I read it might help, but really when I massaged some olive oil into his skin it almost seemed to make the dandruff worse. What do you all think? I have read they sell dog balm and dog moisturizers, which I'd never even heard of before.
2078979 tn?1332206668 Ive and what I thought was dadruff most of my life but I found out that dandruff is actually a scalp condition that is caused by a natural bacteria that grows on ur scalp and u can use oils like tea tree, and eucaliptus to kill it and calm/get rid of dadruff. But u could just have dry scalp which is different. Try drinking more water (even tho we all have to pee more we still need drink lots...
Avatar n tn But shampoo is usually not sufficient for dandruff, oil needs to compliment it. As of the yellow bumps, they can be either a case of dermatitis or in a more routine and non-severe condition, they can be caused due to sweat or reaction by your regular hair wash. If your home remedies have failed to work, I think consulting a pro would be a better option, since yellow bumps do sound a little unusual! All the best and have a happy recovery!
Avatar f tn ih yes, hate this part!
Avatar f tn Hi there! I hope someone out there can offer some insight. I have an almost 7-year-old Boston male who is a very, very picky eater. We tried every brand under the sun and the only food he would eat unfortunately was Beneful so that's what we were feeding him. On his last vet visit the vet recommended Natural Balance. I wanted to get him on something more nutritious, so I gradually switched him over to the Natural Balance limited ingredient chicken and sweet potato variety.
Avatar n tn My Taz has bad dandruff too. I use a little bit of baby lotion- NOT oil- and rub it into his skin really well.
Avatar n tn With regards to your dandruff, daily washing with an antidandruff shampoo may help decrease oil and cell buildup. There are plenty of dandruff shampoo available in the market today. Not all dandruff shampoos are alike, so you may need to experiment with them to find the one that works best for you. When shampooing, it is important to rinse well. If it still persists, stronger prescription shampoos may be indicated. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Im 13 (going to be 14 in 2months if that makes any sense) and im having dandruff for almost a year. I have tryed a lot of shampoos that say im going to get rid of dandruff but that doesnt help. Before it was a lot more ,i think now its a little bit less but still there. I really hate that. Does anybody now some good ways how to get rid of dandruff ??
277836 tn?1359666174 t know about the olive oil, but my neighbors dog had very flaky skin and he added some sort of oil made for animals so I don't think your original idea is a bad one. Since you have a large cat, I think the 1 1/2 cans wet and graze on a good dry like Wellness (or whatever else, there are many good ones) sounds perfect. Jade is a small cat and eats two 3oz cans of wet with a little dry food if she's hungry later.
Avatar m tn I use them after a dandruff treatment, the t/gel dandruff shampoo set that contains 3 types of dandruff control, all of them are anti-fungal. I also use tea tree or sea buckthorn soap, which are natural antibacterials. (not sure that is needed, now i think it is a fungus). To sooth my skin, I use jojoba oil and chemical-free lotions. The olive oil hair product from Hollywood Products also helps. I do this everyday. For some odd reason, keeping my neck moist makes me feel much more comfortable.
Avatar f tn Part of the problem may be you are bathing too often and stripping the natural pils. What breed dog is this? Do you have a flea problem? Have you asked your Vet about a once a month topical treatment or the new oral Comfortis? What food ate you feeding? I would try transitioning to a food with no grain, esp corn. You might try a small bag of the Pro Plan salmon or there are other foods available with fish in them. You can try adding some Omega 3' or fish oil or Flaxseed oil once a day.
Avatar f tn At home to help moisturise the scalp you can rub some baby oil or coconut oil. Coconut oil has antibacterial, antifungal and anti viral properties. Best to get the virgin coconut oil. If you try treating your scalp with the oils, leave it on for as long as possible, or overnight and then wash your hair as normal. The family shampoo that you are using may not be suitable for your scalp. It may bee too harsh.
Avatar f tn But I really wanted to get him eating something healthier, and at his last vet visit about a month and a half ago the vet suggested Natural Balance. We chose the NB grain-free limited ingredient chicken and sweet potato flavor and gradually began mixing it in with the Beneful and phasing the Beneful out until now he's eating just the NB. He doesn't seem to like the NB but will eat it if we dice up and mix in one of his favorite sweet potato treats.
Avatar n tn Nothing seems to work, I've had dandruff since I was a teenager and tried nearly everything, including the following: Shampoos: Selsun Blue Naturals (Salicylic acid 3%) Selsun Blue Medicated (Selenium sulfide 1%) Head & Shoulders AD (Zinc) Head & Shoulders (Pyrithione Zinc) Nizoral AD (Ketoconazole 1%) Neutrogena T/Gel (Coal Tar 1%) Janson Dandruff Relief (Sulfur 2%, Salicylic acid 2%) Topical Steroids: Fluocinide Clobetasol Alternatives: Salt Water Mineral Oil Vinegar Rinse Fi
Avatar m tn ve just found this forum and I'm delighted! I have to wash my hair EVERY day and by lunchtime it smells bad, more so on my scalp but my hair too! I've tried T-Gel, Nizorel, Vosene, Sulphur shampoo, anti dandruff stuff prescribed by the doctor (who actually didn't believe me, she clearly didn't get close enough!) and I'm starting to get paranoid, not to mention worried about the condition of my hair due to constant washing, drying straightening.
Avatar n tn Can u suggest me which shampoo and oil shall i use??
Avatar m tn One year ago I had good volume of hair but currently I had lost more hair reason because of dandruff. I feel very embarrassed. I was using coconut oil for my hair from my childhood and was still using it. But from one week I stopped using oil because when I use it now my hair look less and to hide it I don't use it. When I don't use oil my hair looks more. I am also using shampoo for my hair. I wash my hair daily from my childhood till now.
Avatar f tn You can tell its dandruff or dry scalp by the colour and if there is a smell present or not. Dandruff is yellowish and gives off an odour.
Avatar f tn I'll try the oil that's smart didn't think of that
