Avatar m tn However, I would speak to your medical team about the itchiness which could possibly be liver-related. The tx itself may make your skin drier; up your water intake especially during tx and transfer to a natural shampoo with no harsh chemicals. Speak to your nurse about the problems you're having... Good luck.
Avatar f tn Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is a condition where there is an excess amount of pigment following a disease process that affects the skin. Without treatment, this usually takes about 6 months to resolve and for the skin color to go back to its normal color. Topical treatments with acids and chemical peels can be effective but can take a while for the skin to totally revert to its normal color. Microdermabrasion can also be done, but this might require several sessions.
Avatar n tn Apply it twice in a week at night and keep overnight. There are many anti dandruff shampoos in the market which you can use. Comb your hair well and massage your scalp well. If dandruff persists consult a skin specialist. Once this resolves the lymph nodes will disappear on their own. Hope this helps. Do let me know if there is any thing else and keep me posted. Take care!
1608004 tn?1390770990 All you need to do is go to your local pet store and buy a special shampoo for cats for dandruff, itchiness, and dry skin. And, you can buy some salmon oil or omega 3 oil for cats and give her a half teaspoon a day in her food. This should really help a lot. I have done it myself and my cat looks great!
1351676 tn?1301339436 I would never recommend giving a cat a bath this will only dry out the natural skin oils even more, I too have a totally black cat and he has no white flaking. dry skin would indeed be more noticeable in their black hair. using even a pet shampoo spray would dry out their skin and leave 'white flakes' as a residue......if you want to use anything use a conditioning spray to help with the dryness. brushing is very good to help with the conditioning and stimulation of natural oils..
277836 tn?1359666174 Dandruff is just the shedding of dead skin cells to expose new cells and is not only normal but necessary. If the shedding is excessive, it may indicate a prior buildup of dead cells that were not properly shed. I agree with others that shampooing is not beneficial and dries out the skin. Frequent light brushing is far better for removing dead cells as well as stimulating oil production.

The most effective ingredients -- antimicrobials -- to look for are zinc pyridinethione, selenium sulfide, sulfur and ketoconazole (also available by prescription). If your hair is colored, don't use products with selenium sulfide or sulfur.

Avatar n tn hi actually the layer of dandruff( the bump i presume) gets very hard, thus simple shampooing with tip of my fingers doesnt disturb the bump, hard combing leads to breaking of the bump and usually a chunk of dandruff(skin) comes out,but the bump seems to reappear the next day, so are the bump bcoz of dandruff? ZPTO & ketoconazole shampoo made by different companies are different ?
Avatar n tn t seem to have made much of a dent in the dandruff. Like I said, the dandruff is minimal on some days and heavier on other days with seemingly no rhyme or reason. I've tried adding some olive oil to his food, and even rubbing some on him because I read it might help, but really when I massaged some olive oil into his skin it almost seemed to make the dandruff worse. What do you all think? I have read they sell dog balm and dog moisturizers, which I'd never even heard of before.

You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps. For mild-moderate symptoms a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone as dermacort), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide). But they are available under prescription and should be taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Avatar f tn I recently started getting a really itchy face. I have had dandruff and I do still have a bit of dandruff. When I first had it I got a dry forehead as well, I thought it was part of the dandruff. But very recently I have been getting red patches on my face (under eye area, around my mouth, cheeks, and still forehead). I started getting really concerned because everything I put on my face burns so much.
Avatar f tn I'm 25 weeks and I've noticed that I have very bad dandruff. I hate it and it really bothers me. Has this happened to anyone else and if so what helped?
Avatar m tn Of course, a vet would likely know if they looked at it. But with the dandruff like description and the winter months where heaters run and humidity tends to be lower in the house, it seems as if dry skin is a possibility. You might try a humidifier in the area she spends most her time.
