Common Questions and Answers about Dandruff and eyelid

Avatar n tn Eyelid inflammation may not be related to a dry eye and hense not need Restasis. you may have blepharitis which requires on-going treatment to keep under control (just like dandruff does also). See an Eye MD for a proper diagnosis and treatment. Find one at www.aao.
Avatar f tn Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites but you can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. Also consult a dermatologist and get prescribed the anti dandruff shampoo or steroid ointments as in children they have to be used in caution and cannot be obtained without prescription. I hope that helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how your child is doing and if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.

Avatar n tn I think I have a dermatits or dandruff or ecezma on my left eyelid. (At its worst it was slightly red with flaking, but normally just flaking of skin). I first noticed it about two months ago. It responds to 1% hydrocortisone. I used it lightly in the morning and night for 7 days, but after stopping a little less than a week ago, I woke up with some flaking in the same place again. It just seems like it won't go away and I can't keep using hydrocortisone from what i understand.
Avatar m tn i was told i have MILD MGD and bit of allergy on my right eyelid and left eyelid just mild MGD.. he gave me a sterioid drop tobramycin and dexamethasone only for the right side and he told me i HAVE to do warm compress for for 2-3 mins two times a day.. the steroid drop kind pretty much stopped the inflamed eyelid margin but it DOES NOT GO DOWN NO MATTER WHAT I TRY!! I do warm compress for 5-10 mins at 6pm and at 12AM EVERYDAY!! i massage it while im during the compress.
Avatar n tn in my case I find that this usually - instantly - releases the eyelid - if the eyelid can be released so easily and quickly after the drops, this says to me that 'dry eye'/blepharitis is likely to be the cause. I think if the people with this complaint were to try this and see if there was any improvement, it might ease their concern a bit. Following that experiement - do see your optician to ensure that the Blepharitis and other linked conditions are not needing further treatment.
Avatar n tn THIS ISSUE IS NOT NEAR MY EYELASHES IT IS THE UPPER EYELID PROPER. It is most itchy in the crease of my upper eyelid and more recently has edged slightly toward the nose area of upper eyelid - it is all a bit itchy when I am going through a bout. The skin on upper eyelid now looks like fine creased cigarette paper - very different than the outer edges on my upper eyelids - a visual difference of about 20 years - a very strange affect.
Avatar n tn Hello Last year, I wore my contacts dirty and it became uncomfortable and even tho I changed them to a clean one they were still uncomfortable, so I thought I have GPC, the doctor put on on Lotemax for 7 weeks. Lotemax didn't fix anything so I stopped using it. For the past couple of month I have been getting small bumps on my lower and upper eye lid that come and go every couple of days. They usually return the same place when I get them.

Avatar n tn I practically need toothpicks to hold my eyes open as they feel 1,000 pounds and the right upper eyelid has started to twitch. All of this within the last 9 months. Am I just getting older and this is normal or do you think there is a main dish causing side items?
Avatar f tn 1. I never have any dandruff on my scalp. 2. I have lesions on my right elbow at present. There is a red patch of skin and peeling skin around it. 3. I have had eczema on my eyelids for about 5 years, on and off. Also the cracking of skin on the upper part of my ear, just inside the fold of the ear, which comes and goes for about the same amount of time. It seems to heal up and then I notice a crustiness, which oozes followed by flaking of skin, both in ears and on eyelids at the same time.
Avatar n tn Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium.
Avatar f tn Also, at times the pain is going down into my left shoulder and I noticed today that I have a lump behind my left ear that is tender and firm (not hard) to the touch and my left eyelid is drooping slightly. I almost always get a sore throat and both ears ache with my migraines, and this time is no exception (but only my left ear aches).
Avatar m tn - itchy (severely at times), burning/stinging feeling just right below my eyebrow but reaches my eyelid and eye corners - the burning sensation mimics that of just having broken skin through trying to pop a pimple or something (or like sun burn because the burning lingers on) - itchy eye lashes - watery eyes at times - only right eyelid/brow is affected - eyelid/brow is swollen slightly and there are visible scar-like patches running down the center of my eyelid from the brow to my lashes - pat
Avatar m tn It has also spread to my scrotum and penis, as well as my left eyelid, upper chest and elbow. I've seen a dermatologist for two years now and all it's done during the time is spread and get worse. It's red most of the time, but sometimes becomes closer to regular skin but is very scaley. Any time I get it wet it causes it to peel and become irratated. It also seems to be spreading to places under my hair, because I never had dry skin or dandruff before this came along.
Avatar m tn I have very short hair and it is unsightly leaving red areas below ear on neck on the worse side. It seems to tighten up and look better after using a dandruff shampoo, but doesn't go away. Am calling doctor again tomorrow, I don't like to use chemical medicines but do use the OTC remedies for fungal like Lotrimin with great success for mild problems in the groin area. Thanks for all of your help. Here's to a cure!
Avatar n tn For the last 6 months I have been getting tearing (look like paper cuts) in my vaginal area (1/4 to 1/2 inch long). I get the tears at least once or twice a week and they last from 2-4 days, go away for a few days and then come back. They continue to occur in the same locations; 1. Inside the vaginal lips on the sides almost always in the crease (between the labia minora and majora?) 2. Between the anus and vaginal opening (perineum) 3. Above the clitoris in the "hood" area.
Avatar m tn The thing is, that suffer from hair dandruff, and im begining to think that my eye came into contact with this dandruff because I use to touch my hair a lot and right BEFORE this symptoms started i remember to touch that particular eyelid (right eye) a LOT because i was testing the vision trough my left eye with some tests i found on the internet and to do that i have to touch my right eye with my hand to keep it closed, for several minutes.
Avatar f tn At first I thought it was windburn, (my husband drives his jeep with the top off) so I began applying lotion all day and night. It burns and tingles a little whenever I apply it. The lotion isn't helping though. (I am using a oil-free face lotion) If this persists I will be going to the doctor next week to see what is wrong, but I was hoping someone here could offer some help beforehand. What is wrong with my face?!
496771 tn?1209698358 My hair line is extremely swollen and painful and the glands behind my ears are as well. They are sore to the touch and honestly kind of lumpy! -- am I in any danger? Will this just go away? Should I be worried? It's been about 48 hours since I dyed my hair. Thanks!
Avatar f tn Yeah, tingling is one of my main symptoms as well...but it's not constant. If yours is constant, then I bet it has everything to do with the buldging disk!!! Good luck!!!
Avatar n tn Slowly, over the last two years, this area of dry skin has expanded from just one square centimetre on each eyelid to around large, circular rings around either eye and up onto the middle of my forehead slightly - it's now working its way down the chin area. my epidermis becomes very, very dry and retains nearly no moisture and seems to peel of its own accord.
Avatar n tn He has tried every eye cream and drop out there and gets relief for a short while and then it comes back. He is allergic to many things but also has psoriasis (not too bad). Would allergy shots help him?
Avatar f tn Generally the causes are seborrheic dermatitis (similar to dandruff) and infection by Staphylococcus bacteria, but sometimes allergies like allergic responses to dust mite feces and other allergens can also cause it. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.

Avatar f tn I notice my eyelid rims are red, some eyelashes failed off with some tiny peeled skin like dandruff. I feel my eyes are weak and dry, so I visited another eye Dr. He said my eyes are fine just only my eyelids are inflamed. So, he gave me Opticron, Maxitrol eyedrops, and TelFast pills. Than I need to back to the clinic next week. I really want to know what is the real cause of my eyelid inflamed. How long will it go away? Can it cure?
Avatar n tn Hi, It could be blepharitis.Blepharitis is the inflammation of the eyelid margins, often with scales and crust. It can lead to eyelash loss. Some cases of blepharitis are caused by bacterial infection and some by head lice, but in some cases, the cause is unclear. It may also be caused by an overproduction of oil by the meibomian glands. Blepharitis can be a chronic condition that begins in early childhood and can last throughout life.
